for debut albums, yes. He did well. Not amazingly, but Bo's first week has outsold Justin Guarini and Diana DeGarmo's albums combined, so he's in no danger of being dropped, and for a runner up not named Clay Aiken that's huge I assume "The Real Thing" will be pushed to radio in January, yes? I think it'll sell somewhat steadily throughout Christmas due to name recognition, but after that he needs more.

Maybe Bo can do advertisements for Pantene. Hey any promotion is still promotion right?

Bo has already been added to Radio, i think he was added to radio the week he released his album, he's climbing the radio charts (media base), he's currently #55 with 432 spins, and i think with 40 stations playing him, and still going up, he is doing pretty good on radio so far!

Of course in fairness to Diana and Justin Bo has received MUCH better treatment and promotion by RCA than either of them did. That certainly makes a difference doesn't it? I see Bo's song going in the lower top 40 on CHR/POP I think it would have to pick up a few more stations to go much higher.

He actually was excited about producing Bo's album, and decided to put more effort and promotion into him than previous runner-ups.

What does everyone think Bo will sell for his second week? Normal for any album is 40-60% drop - Due to xmas I think he could see less than 10% drop and sell 200k odd maybe more. Dont pay any heed to hits predictions particularly when they are on holiday - They have been 100k or more out before!!!. I dont think carrie will sell 400k and I am a huge fan!

Billboard's headline for last week's sales:
Question, was that remotely even considered a challenge? Maybe they just liked his last name and decided to put it there for fun, the BICE. It is quite catchy Bice Bice Baby.

Got this for Christmas! Its kinda weak admittedly. BUT I do think You're Everything and U Make Me Better have some major potential. I really like those tracks. Nothing Without You and Lie, Its All Right are good too.

Dec 27, 9:24 AM EST 'Idol' Runner-Up Bice Releasing Debut Disc BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- "American Idol" has made Bo Bice a hot property this year, both for his music talent and for his long-haired sex appeal. Now he hopes to cash in.
Bice, 30, finished the TV show's fourth season as the runner-up, but the Alabama native hopes to follow Clay Aiken as the also-ran who actually runs away with it. He's releasing his debut disc "The Real Thing."
"I'm obviously very excited about the album, to see what people think of it," he told The Birmingham News. "I had quite a bit of creative control, and I was extremely pleased with that. I had a lot of input."
Two of 11 tracks on "The Real Thing" were co-written by Bice, and one, "Valley of Angels," is a ballad he wrote several years ago that was given a new instrumental bridge by producer Cliff Magness. "`Valley of Angels' is about the idea that things aren't perfect," Bice said. "Everyone fumbles and falls and makes mistakes. When you're down, you might not feel there's any place of serenity you can find. It's about finding peace."

I don't really know what kind of sales you guys expect for a man who hasn't been publicised enough. Plus one of the main problems is that Bo needed to shake off that pop label he has on his forehead and comes out with a pop record called 'the real thing'. If I were a fan I'll be happy that this album doesn't do well because if it did, expect the second album to be pop again.

His album needs to do well for people to take him seriously. Trust me, as an AI fan, I'll never stop hearing "Bo flopped" and I don't want that to happen! I trust Bo to make more of the music he wants to with his second album.

I would never hope that someone's album flopped just because it didn't suit my personal taste. I've seen a BROAD spectrum of opinions with respect to Bo's album. Some people love it and are glad there's no Southern Rock, others wanted him to "rock harder," some are disappointed that there's no "Southern Rock/Soul/Blues," one critic suggested that he should have done Country, someone on Amazon.com thought the album should have been more "Prince/Lenny Kravitz/James Brown," and others have argued tirelessly that this isn't the "real Bo." But I really can't tell you which opinion is "right" because it's all very subjective. So I think the Pop/Rock album that RCA did was the most logical. I don't know, it seems like no one will be 100% happy no matter what musical direction his next album goes in. But I guess it all depends on what your expectation is and that varies from person to person. I just hope Bo feels better next year.

I picked up this CD with a gift card the other night. Its a good pop/rock album. Nothing on here blows me away, but there isn't a bad song on the album. Nice job by Bo on this.

I just hope Bo feels better next year. that's exactly the problem, people are judging this album on what they were expecting instead of what the album is, including the critics, most of the critics i've read they praise Bo, they recognize Bo's talent but they blast pretty much the company/producers... for me is a solid pop/rock album.. i'd love to see more Bo originals, didn't happen, but i still love this album, there is no song that i don't like and i think Bo is having great sales!
