Album name: And The Band Played On... Please tell me there won't be a cover of the Temptations' classic "Ball Of Confusion" on it. Although knowing Jessica, there will be.

MTV/Vh1:
Jessica Simpson Mixes Country Flavor With Club Tracks On Upcoming LP Working on 'The Dukes of Hazzard' put the singer in touch with her Southern roots.
"The Dukes of Hazzard" has done more than launch Jessica Simpson's movie career — it's also given her a sense of direction for her upcoming album, which she promises will have a country-fried flavor.
"Living in the South for three months again felt really good," Simpson said of shooting the film in Louisiana. "It brought a lot of my personality back that I was missing. I retreated back to Patsy Cline, and tried to go back there a little bit."
Simpson had threatened to go country as early as this past December, when she also contemplated adding some jazz overtones to the album (see "Jessica Simpson Planning Workout Video, Listening To Bjork For Inspiration"). But Simpson's redirection mostly comes thanks to her collaboration with Willie Nelson on the "Dukes" soundtrack single "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'," which she said was so much fun that she hopes to work with Willie again (see "Jessica Simpson To Record Duet With Willie Nelson"). "We've been talking about it, Willie and I," Simpson said. "We have some songs put away for each other, but I don't know what we're going to end up doing. We'll see."
What she does know is that her LP, titled And the Band Played On, is due out in November. "I have two more songs to record," she revealed, adding that the album marks her first as executive producer. She compares the LP's sound with "Billie Holiday, Patsy Cline, Stevie Nicks — it's all over the place. But then there's songs for us girls to dance to in the club," she explained. Simpson has worked with knob-twiddlers Corey Rooney, Scott Storch and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis on the disc, with the latter pair of producers collaborating on "about six songs" total.
One of Storch's tracks, the dance-club burner "Fire It Up" — he calls it Jessica's "Dirtty" — is a contender to be the LP's first single. Simpson also recorded another club track, "Mr. Operator," with Storch during their session together three weeks ago.
"You'll hear [the country], but you'll also hear the fun club songs. Club songs and country songs; it's all of it, mixed into one," Simpson said. "Just really good music."

Personally I think Jessica tries too hard to be like her rivals. She tried to sing like Britney ( and Christina ), then she had to try and be sexy like Brit in Boots, and now she's gonna have a dirrty song ... chyea right.

I dont think she tries to be like them .. i just think people are getting tired of her ballads and covers so she has to reinvent herself.. i really wanna hear "Fire It Up."

Conveniently, "Nick" and "dick" rhyme already, so it probably wasn't hard for her to come up with some "Dirrty-esque" lyrics.

Six songs with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis? I hope that doesn't mean ''whispering'' like "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'"...

Hmm, lets see, she's working with producers who have most famously worked with Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson and Jennifer Lopez. Plus she's gunning for a country-themed album? Err, it just doesn't add up! ??? This album is gonna totally rock or totally suck seeing how the spectrum of music she's bound to make is so wide. I'm shocked that I'm actually looking forward to this. November is gonna be real eventful month for music!

I am interested in knowing the release dates for both Ashlee's and Jessica's albums. Will both of them score themselves a/another #1 album? Only time will tell...

That dress is unflattering. It looks like her breasts are squished and trying to run away from eachother.
And the album title is still annoying me. I wonder if she even knows it was a sad movie/book about AIDS.

Is that title 4 real? Man, I like her and all but I'm not to sure about that title (hopefully it changes) and how she wants this album to come out.

"I want people to know that I'm a strong woman," says Jessica Simpson (at a July 30 screening of The Dukes Of Hazzard in Knoxville, Tenn.). "So I went after this role as hard as I could and I got it."

Before traveling to military bases to promote Dukes, Simpson (at Robins Air Force Base in Georgia on July 26) and Lachey made overseas stops in Germany and Iraq this spring as part of a USO-hosted tour. "I think it brings us closer together," Simpson says of the couple's interactions with the troops. "To see it together and impact people's lives together, that is a pretty cool deal."

She must be totally exhausted. It seems like she's been non-stop for the last week or two.

I read an interview she did in OK! magazine, and she said the only cover on this album will be Son Of A Preacher Man.

I read an interview she did in OK! magazine, and she said the only cover on this album will be Son Of A Preacher Man. I wonder if she's going to write new lyrics for it (like she did with "Boots"). I can only imagine a bridge in the middle about Papa Joe. And the video...

I Wanna Love You Forever peaked at #3 on Billboard and went platinum. Sweet Kisses went 2x platinum. In This Skin went 3x platinum and had a smash hit. Her Christmas went gold. These Boots Are Made For Walking is a hit. If I'm not wrong I just listed more than 2 "career successes" ha, and IMO her best album is "irresistible" which only went gold!

I agree with this, when I first saw the first few clips of the "These Boots.." video when she is on the dance floor and the camera is panning out...from afar, with the tan skin and dark features, she looked a lot like Christina from 'Dirrty'....so much so, I had to do a double take.

Despite her profound independence, Simpson remains as close as ever to her biggest supporters: mangaer dad Joe and mom Tina. Joe steadfastly defends his daughter's marriage, telling PEOPLE that the Simpsons and the Lacheys take a similar approach to life: "We stick together. So we laugh together. We cry together. We drink together."

Dude, Jessica needs a break...I can't believe she's releasing an album so soon. I think it might be a bad idea; right now the world's on Jessica-overload and she's releasing another album. By the time November comes along, people will be tired of Jessica and her album will suffer. Take a break...maybe a few months...write some stuff and relax.
