Looks like the index page of the FC has a short video of the FC party in Nashville. You don't have to be a member to view it. carrieunderwood.fm/

another carrie fan at the fanclub site said her radio station dj announced that carrie's single will be released very soon...so this is more confirmation. This same person ( I think) also said that Oh Love will be brad's 3rd single- so that confirms what my dj said. Also- on wikipedia.com, there is a blurb that the new single will be out 7-23 and it is called "show Me." Cary and others at carriefans researched the single and it was previously recorded by Martina as a bonus track. You can hear it on youtube. I think it is sort of blah for a lead single- and I doubt wikipdia is accurate since why would carrie's most important single- the lead off one- be a recycled blah song?? so hoping wikipedia is wrong as usual...or- that the version of "show me" is different from martina's version altogether. I highly doubt this is the same song, it is so blah and I wouldn't think Carrie's first single of the new album to be a cover! Wouldn't even show case her voice at all. another carrie fan at the fanclub site said her radio station dj announced that carrie's single will be released very soon...so this is more confirmation. Here is video taken during a radio interview taken during the 2007 ACMs with Carrie and Bo Mathews of 92.3 WIL. Carrie talks about the endeavors of just trying to get her "cable" fixed at her home! You can download the WMV vid at my site under VIDEOS,INTERVIEWS.

I never trust anything on wiki if I can't confirm it with a more reliable source. Never. Once confirmed though, the facts are nicely organized when I want to look back and check on something quick. Re: the lead-off single, no way do I think that is accurate. Someone's playing.. and it's good that it's now been taken down.
Btw, are we keeping this thread or are we now gonna move on to the "New Album" one? I'm getting whiplash checking this one and that. I vote to stay here in the meantime! :)
ETA: Thanks for the video, vinman ;) That was great!

Well, count me as someone who loves Show Me and thinks it's one of Martina's best songs. The imagery in the song is beautiful. I would love for Carrie to record it though I do not think it should be a single.

I'm a little behind on the tour business. Is she headlining a tour right now or opening for someone? I feel like I haven't heard anything about it aside from this thread. I'll have to see if she's coming to Mohegan. I'd love to see her live. I know this post is several pages back, but I was skimming this thread and noticed that no one has stated that Carrie hopes to co-headline for her next tour (since she's only doing a couple of dates each month now, as Jeff said). This is being discussed at carriefans.com. Carrie says she doesn't quite feel comfortable headlining an entire tour yet completely on her own. So, what Country act would everyone like Carrie to headline with? I would like to see Sugarland, Martina, or even Brad (though she was Brad's opener last year).

I would love for Carrie to record it though I do not think it should be a single. I completely disagree with that, but we all have different opinions. And I definitely agree this shouldn't be a single, definitely not a first single. Perhaps this song is Carrie's one cover song that she stated that she might put on the next record?

Well, count me as someone who loves Show Me and thinks it's one of Martina's best songs. The imagery in the song is beautiful. I would love for Carrie to record it though I do not think it should be a single. Yeah...while I'm not that keen on Martina's version, I actually rather like "Show Me" -- I think Carrie could do a great job with the song. I like "Show Me" better than every pop song (i.e., Huff-produced track) on Some Hearts), with the exception of TWII, and this song would probably rank up there with TWII eventually. It's not a perfect song (I think some of the imagery is overdone towards the end) and I think it would need punching up (which Carrie and better production would do), but I like its intensity and think Carrie would do really well with it. Having said that...as a single? I would hope not. Not so much because it's a previously recorded song (because that happens A LOT in country music). Sometimes, it takes the right match between artist and song to make the song really work. My objection would be more because "Show Me" is a pop-leaning song that I think could only sound a bit country in the end. Even though several of country's female format artists (Martina McBride, Sara Evans and Faith Hill) essentially all have pop songs as country singles right now, I'm hoping that Carrie doesn't follow suit. I'm hoping that Carrie's lead single will sound a bit more conversational, down-to-earth and, well, country. And I can definitely get on the board with the hopes that the lead single for Carrie's album will be a song that was originally written for or by her. In any case, Carrie did say that a couple of her co-writes would likely be singles down the road, so that'll be nice. Having said all that...I'm with those of you who don't think the original "Show Me" claim is reliable. My first thought was that some lesser-known songwriters who were hoping to pitch a song called "Show Me" to Carrie tried to stir some online buzz by going to her wikipedia page. But perhaps not. Eep. I just noticed this is still the Some Hearts thread. To answer leilamaurizia's question, I would say that any new album speculation/discussion (including this post, technically) should definitely go in the New Album thread. I would also suggest that once Carrie's next single hits radio, all Carrie conversation should go to the New Album thread. In this interim period and when there's stuff like Carrie concerts to discuss, I guess people can stick to this thread unless you all want to agree to move over to the new thread. But we should really try to avoid having parallel conversations in two different threads. And having more than one Carrie thread active at the same time probably isn't a good idea (if nothing else, it will likely annoy a lot of people).

I'm for it Dudly. If you wanna lock this thread and make the New Album Era the active one I think it would be approprate, unless we are still discussing charting of SH on this thread..

I thought there were several reports in May that there was a good chance Carrie's next single would be one she co-wrote.

I thought there were several reports in May that there was a good chance Carrie's next single would be one she co-wrote. Yes, there were. Blair Garner, who does the syndicated show, "After Midnight", announced this weeks ago. This is why I strongly believe that "Show Me" was just some rumor that started on Wikipedia, which ANYBODY can edit.

GACAccolades Continue for Carrie Underwood July 5, 2007 — Not only was Carrie Underwood voted Most Beautiful Woman by readers of Country Weekly magazine this week, she was also recognized as one of the three most "influential" entertainers by OK! magazine. The current issue of Country Weekly features the results of a poll in which readers were asked to choose the most beautiful woman in country music. Carrie takes the title from 2006 winner Faith Hill, who placed second in this year's voting. OK!'s list of 19 famous faces, which appears in the issue due on newsstands tomorrow, was separated by editors into six categories: beauty queens, style setters, entertainers, newsmakers, survivors and body shapers. The top three entertainers — the "people who decide what we watch and listen to," according to OK! — were Carrie, "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell and model-TV host Heidi Klum. Carrie was also recently voted World's Sexiest Vegetarian woman in a PETA poll.

From Billboard Chart Beat'CHEATS' PROSPERS: Carrie Underwood has outlasted her competition to have the longest-running title among all of the songs that have peaked in 2007. "Before He Cheats" dips 13-16 in its 44th chart week. That breaks a tie that existed last week, as the Red Jump Suit Apparatus had a 43-week run with "Face Down," which peaked at No. 24 in April. In third place is John Mayer's "Waiting on the World to Change," which remained on the Hot 100 for 40 weeks, peaking at No. 14 in March. Underwood will have to remain on the Hot 100 for another 19 weeks to own the record for the longest-running song of the 21st century. The current champ is "You and Me" by Lifehouse with a 62-week stay. That single peaked at No. 5 in August 2005.

TWII is also the one Huff track that I like better than Show Me. I also agree that I want her first single to be a little less pop-infused.

blogs.usatoday.com/idolchatter/Idols on the radio: First-half performance <Snip> 15. Carrie, Before He Cheats (chart peak: 7): Her biggest multi-format hit, and an anthem for legions of vengeful, vehicle-defacing girlfriends everywhere. The song climbed to 18 on the national chart in December based primarily on its country airplay, then declined into the 40s before starting a long slow climb to the top 10 in May after it crossed over to AC and top 40 stations. 43. Carrie, Wasted (chart peak: 23): This Carrie tune didn't get the crossover benefits, but was such a huge country hit that it nearly made the national top 20. <Snip> Idols score on first-half album, download charts Idols were all over the lists of top-selling albums and downloads in the first half of 2007. The greatest triump was Daughtry's -- his album is No. 1 for the year so far with 1.73 million sold in 2007 (out of 2.85 million total). Carrie also did great, landing at No. 5 with 1.07 million despite Some Hearts coming out in 2005.
