R&B Singer Adina Howard Gets MarriedDate: Tuesday, October 18, 2011, 10:45 am By: BlackAmericaWeb.com Staff Remember the song "Freak Like Me" by the risqué R&B singer Adina Howard? Well, she's decided to settle down. The popular 90's sex symbol recently said "I do" to her long-time, on-again-off-again boyfriend, Sherman. In an interview with Hellobeautiful, she explains that the couple dated shortly while they were in their 20's but parted ways to do some growing up. In addition to her new marriage, Howard is back in the studio working on a new release.

I wish being that I am in Phoenix that I knew a way to get in contact with her. It would be AMAZING once she gets to working on the music if I could just hang out in the studio with her!

Signal to Noise Five Tracks From Abroad That You'll Be Hearing on San Francisco DancefloorsBy Derek Opperman So far the month of March has held no punches in delivering its share of dancefloor anthems. This time around we train our focus on popular sounds coming from abroad; the sort of stuff that carries clout in both techno and bass circles. Read on -- you just might hear these the next time you go out dancing. "Can't See Higher," by LorcaRecent years have seen a rise in popularity of UK bass music on San Francisco dancefloors. Yet, while a lot of these sounds stressed forward-thinking aesthetics and experimentalism, the recent crop has been fairly dull and formulaic. Not so with "Can't See Higher," the latest cut from UK-based producer Lorca. Establishing a loose groove, he pushes together a shuffling percussion line and droning organs to create an overall experience reminiscent of Joy Orbison's massively popular "Hyph Mngo." "Freak Like Me (Citizen Remix)," by Adina HowardThe novelty of appropriated R&B samples has definitely worn off. That being said, give Citizen's remix of Adina Howard's chart-topping single a chance. Moving away from the abrasive chipmunk-style sampledelia that characterized the past two years of the R&B craze, he wraps aspects of the original vocal around swirling Rhodes chords and a swung-out rhythm ripped straight from '90s garage and the soulful side of UK house. "Yo Vogue," by French FriesA local DJ friend put it best: "So now that Dirtybird is releasing a 'vogue' record, does that mean I won't be getting any more dirty looks from the house-bros when a bitch tries to do floor-work at their parties?" Not sure if this is the record that'll make that happen, but you can be sure that you'll be hearing it rinsed at the city's bass-centric parties for at least a while into the future. "Frisky" by Maceo PlexStepping away from bass for a moment, Maceo Plex's latest is possibly the best thing he's released since "Your Style." Titled "Frisky," it sees him dropping into a druggy late-night vibe that cruises along one-note muted guitar plucking with intense synthesizer washes whipping by like hi-speed trains going under an overpass. It sounds heavy, but he ties it all together with a deep low-tuned bassline, clean drum programming, and his characteristically breathy vocals. If you're looking for a track to carry you into the summer party season, look no further. "Talk to You" by EjecaFirst appearing back in 2011 with the R&B-tinged "Tetra," Ejeca has since been hard at work pumping out top-notch dance tracks. "Talk to You," his latest, follows on the heels of a highly anticipated ultra-limited vinyl release on Tusk Wax. Familiar ground for the producer, it layers atmospheric diva wails and sharp percussion over vortices of piano notes that take things just to the brink of trance. Yet, just as things are about to go overboard, he backs off and lets it simmer instead of going for a full boil.

It kinda sucks she's a cook in somebody's instead of having a full-time, active recording career.

Find out this fall when TV One’s popular series “Life After” returns for season five. Beginning on Sept. 11, new episodes will reveal the whereabouts of some of your favorite celebs who seemed to retreat from the limelight after reaching huge career heights. Maureen Guthman, SVP of Program Strategy and Acquisitions for TV One, said in a statement: “Our fascination with our favorite performers doesn’t end when the cameras stop rolling. Life After offers audiences a glimpse into the lives and loves of these beloved performers as they share their intimate secrets and the life lessons they have learned, giving their fans an up-close look at the person behind the celebrity.” Other celebs to be featured on season five are legendary Broadway performer Sheryl Lee Ralph, actor LeVar Burton, songwriter/actor/minister Clifton Davis, comedian/actor Jimmie Walker, former Atlanta housewife Sheree Whitfield, and actress Maia Campbell.
