Just saw that The Dream wrote Suffocate and Tricky Stewart produced it. You didn't know that? LOL. That's the whole reason why his label chose it as the next single. "Fatal" was originally 3rd. ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)

I'm glad they didn't release "Fatal." Boring.

Billboard Review:
While new artists ride the wave of singles these days, J. Holiday's debut appears to reverse the formula. Thanks to its soulful production and Holiday's harmonious tenor, "Back of My Lac" is equipped to re-enamor any true R&B aficionado from beginning to end. On the title track, reminiscent of D'Angelo circa 1995, Holiday passionately belts about his absentee father, while the piano-laden "Pimp in Me," finds him leaving his player ways behind to formalize a relationship with the woman he loves. Then there's the sensual single "Bed," with its repetitious hook and infectious chorus. If you have a soft spot for that tune, the rest of this album might just be irresistible.—Mariel Concepcion

I'm not to fond of the first half of the album (saved "Bed") but I think the end of the album is really good. Right now I can't remember the titles of the song so I need go back and listen to it again. Also "Fatal" is boring but I think a good boring song too.

He leans a little too hard on that whole "thug from the street" schtick for me. The love songs are his strong suit so he needs to stick with those. My favorites:
"Bed" "Come Here" "Be With Me" "Suffocate" "Fatal" "Without You" "Thank You" "Fallin'"

Billboard.com:
Sultry R&B singer J. Holiday can also attribute a big chart week to a hit single, "Bed," which fueled sales of his debut "Back of My 'Lac." The Music Line/Capitol album starts at No. 5 with 105,000.

I never realized but Fallin' is a really good song lol I like the guitar section towards the end. it's unusual for an R&B singer to do that I think.

"Bed" is still going strong. Does anyone know the name or where I can find this HOT remix that radio stations around the world is banging now. It's a much faster beat and has Fabolous rapping on the top. When I went to download a version featuring Fabolous it was the same slow-boring beat as the album version. Here's what it sounds like but I can't find it ANYWHERE to purchase! www.youtube.com/watch?v=sR_bXajvDr4

I wasn't too interested with this CD, but with the explosion of Suffocate on Urban and re-listening to the CD, I'm interested in it now. He has some nice jams on there especially when you get beyond that ghetto-wannabe stuff at the beginning. I'm surprised he hasn't hit Gold yet, which shows people have been responding more fondly to his singles than the actual CD.

His sales have been consistent, which is a good thing, so he needs to continue with the formula that's worked for him and drop "Fatal" next.

He's releasing a "deluxe" edition of Back of My 'Lac on Tuesday with 3 new songs and a DVD with all 3 of his videos. 1 of the new songs, "Sooner You Get To Love", is his next single. For those aware of the pre-album leaks, "Sooner You Get To Love" was originally titled "A Love of Your Own". ![](http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/3680/jholidaydeluxecoverff9.jpg) 1. Back of My 'Lac 2. Ghetto 3. Thug Commandments 4. Bed 5. Betcha Never Had 6. Good For Each Other 7. Come Here 8. Be With Me 9. Suffocate 10. Fatal 11. Without You 12. Pimp In Me 13. Thank You 14. Fallin' 15. Sooner You Get To Love 16. I Know Love 17. When You Get Home

WTF? That's so stupid. "A Love of Your Own" is a terrible single choice.
They need to release "Come Here" or "Pimp in Me," and wrap this era up.

"Suffocate" is going for adds at Pop this next Tuesday, so I don't think this era will be over any time soon. And the re-release might push him towards sales of one million, if everything goes smoothly.
