Jagged Little Pill Acoustic FINALLY comes out tomorrow here in the UK. I believe it comes out in the US this Tuesday as well. Finally! I wouldn't expect it to make a big dent on the charts next week since its been on sale at Starbucks, and available everywhere on the web for months...

I read this article on the LA Times website... " 'We're going to carry it, but we won't be marketing it or promoting it,' says Bob Feterl, Tower Records' Southwest regional director. 'You won't see it in store windows, it won't be in our ad and we won't be putting it on sale.' Since Starbucks began selling 'Jagged Little Pill Acoustic' in June, it's sold fewer than 200,000 copies, according to Billboard charts director Geoff Mayfield." More acts are striking deals with Starbucks. I've read a few albums will come out this fall and only be sold on Starbucks. I can't remember which artists they were but it seems this is getting more common now.

I wouldn't have expected it to make a big dent anyway, this one was mostly (or so it seems to me) for serious fans. though i expect the reasons you mentioned above probably sapped what little chart power it had.

Alanis was on Jay Leno last night. I didn't watch it yet, but I taped it. I read she sang "Perfect". Anyone catch it?
This Wednesday (July 27) she'll be on Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC.
She'll also be on PBS's Tavis Smiley Show for a performance but the airdate is TBA.

Got my copy of Acoustic today from Target - dammit, it wasn't even on First-Day sale. Paid $14.99. And as reported, it wasn't prominently displayed but in the midst of all her previous albums. Interesting videos on it and despite the general sentiment, I think it's a great re-interpretation.

Check out Alanis's cover of Seal - Crazy at alanismorissette.info It's a cover she did for the new GAP CD and is rumoured to being remixed/recut for release as a single.

Yeah, this is one of the best things she's done since Uninvited, IMO. It's just amazing... it doesn't have that polished URS/SCC sound, and her vocals are amazing.

"Crazy" is my favorite Seal song. It's the best she's done since "Hands Clean" for me. It would be cool to see it get a single release. Covers seem to do pretty well at Hot AC. She might be able to score herself a big hit with this if she's lucky.

I'm really liking that cover of "Crazy." It's one of my favorites from Seal as well. :) This sounds pretty good. It could make for a good single.

"Crazy" is my favorite Seal song. Alanis did a good job, but no one can better Seal himself.

The Collection is due out November 8. There's no tracklisting yet though. Does this possibly mean she's no longer with Maverick?

She probably doesn't have many albums left with them, if any... we'll see :) Can't wait for The Collection thought!

Alanis GH titled 'The collection' is slated for realease on the 15th of november. The single we know of so far is a cover of Seal's Crazy.
Some news about this song:
The song will be different from the gap cd verision. Reports have said that its been rerecorded or edited or somthing to be a bit rockier/radio friendly and shorter. The single is meant to go to radio on 10/10. as for the vid it has not been shot yet, but it is meant to premiere on 10/7.
I hope she has a solid hit with this.
What do you guys think of its chances on pop and hot A/C?
A completely new album is expected sometime next year.

The Collection is due out November 8. There's no tracklisting yet though. From Billboard.com Alanis Morissette's cover of Seal's "Crazy" will precede the Nov. 15 Maverick release of the retrospective "The Collection," Billboard.com can exclusively reveal. The 19-track album will be available as an enhanced single-disc set and a double-disc package with an hour-long documentary DVD. Aside from such hits as "You Oughta Know," "Hand in My Pocket," "Ironic," "Hands Clean" and "Thank U," the album features Morissette's contributions to soundtracks for "Dogma," "De-Lovely" and "City of Angels," plus a track she recorded for the compilation "The Prayer Cycle." Morissette was first heard reinterpreting "Crazy" earlier this summer as part of Gap's "Favorites" campaign. The track was available on a CD distributed only in Gap stores this month. "Ultimately, I put this collection record together to have something to show my great-grandkids one day, and to reflect with objectivity on my own evolution as a writer and singer," Morissette says. Here is the track list for "The Collection": "Thank U" "Head Over Feet" "Eight Easy Steps" "Everything" "Crazy" "Ironic" "Princes Familiar" "You Learn" "Simple Together" "You Oughta Know" "That I Would Be Good" "Sister Blister" "So Unsexy" "Hands Clean" "Mercy" "Still" "Uninvited" "Let's Do It, Let's Fall in Love" "Hand In My Pocket"

"Simple Together"? Uhh that doesn't really deserve to be there.
I love Alanis but I hate unnecessary collections/greatest hits/etc, so I probably won't pick this up.

"Unsent", "So Pure" and "Precious Illusions" aren't on there :O But I'm very very happy that she included "Still"! That song is a gem. Not too many people have heard it, I'm sure. "Let's Do It, Let's Fall In Love" is a hilarious song title. LOL!

It's kind of a shocker that she left off her unequivocally best non-JLP track, Joining You, while including bizarros like So Unsexy, Simple Together, and Sister Blister. I guess it's no wonder that she's been making such mediocre music over the past 5 years when these choices show that she can't even *recognize* good music anymore, let alone create more.

Wow, I couldn't have said it better. I'm seriously disappointed in this greatest hits album... it'll probably head south just as the Acoustic album did (which I actually liked) I definitely won't be getting this one... blah!
