MORE OF JONES: As we head into Super Bowl weekend, there is one winner we can already predict. Norah Jones’ third Blue Note album, Not Too Late, will be just in time to finish at #1 on Tuesday’s chart, with what is looking like up to 375k in first-week sales. Idol alum Katharine McPhee’s RCA debut is #2, with an expected total of around 115k, easily outdistancing fellow show grad Daughtry at #3 with 85-90k. Manhattan’s Celtic Woman album is the week’s other debut at #4 with around 70k, followed by Sub Pop indie darlings The Shins (60-65k) and last week’s chart-topper, Atlantic’s Pretty Ricky (55-60k). The rest of the Top 10 includes Columbia/Sony Soundtrax’s Dreamgirls (55-60k), Star Trak/Interscope blue-eyes soul man Robin Thicke (50-55k), SRC/Universal Motown’s Akon (45-50k) and Sony Commercial Music Group’s 2007 Grammy Nominees (45-50k). The album debuts #1 in UK, her third #1 album there:
"Not Too Late" tops charts
LONDON (Reuters) - Jazz vocalist Norah Jones' "Not Too Late" had the honour on Sunday of becoming the 800th album to take the number one position since the charts began in 1956.
Also debuts #1 in the Netherlands.

I found this online about Norah's 2nd album's first week sales:
New Norah Jones sells 1 mil in 1st week Wednesday, February 18, 2004
NEW YORK (AP) -- Norah Jones' "Feels Like Home," the follow-up to her multiplatinum, Grammy-winning debut album, has sold over 1 million copies in its first week, the highest sales debut for an album since 2001.
No act has posted more than 1 million in sales since 'N Sync sold 1.9 million copies of "Celebrity" in the summer of 2001. "Feels Like Home" was released February 10, and for the week ending Sunday, it sold 1,022,149 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

It's worth noting that Norah's release week in 2004 was both the week of Valentine's Day and the week immediately following the Grammy Awards (which were on February 8). That's a big sales week, with lots of people in the stores. ( Billboard reported that overall sales for that week were up 35.9% over the previous week.) This release is a bit earlier, relative to both the Grammys and Valentine's Day, so it's not surprising that she's not looking at the same huge number. That being said, I was still expecting higher first week sales for this effort than what HDD has been predicting. We'll see what happens when the numbers come in. I'm hoping that they underestimated.

I truely hope that hits underestimated her number's as well. I want her to sell so much more than what they have predicted.
Norah is spectacular.

Billboard.biz:
• Finally, after weeks of less-than-exciting charts, The Billboard 200 gets an influx of debuts, with Norah Jones' "Not Too Late" the top opener at No. 1. The singer/songwriter's third set sold 405,000 in its first week. It's an impressive figure, but still small compared to the 1.02 million that greeted "Feels Like Home" in 2004. Don't forget -- that album was released the same week as Valentine's Day and the Grammy Awards broadcast. Both always engineer big gains for album sales, and if anyone benefits from Valentine's-related music gift purchases, it's Jones. The Grammy darling -- eight awards and counting -- seemingly acted as a pied piper last week for artists who count mature consumers as their biggest fans. Celtic Woman, Harry Connick Jr. and Jill Scott also have albums that debut high this week, and figure that each counts older music fans as their core audience. "Thinking About You," the first single from Jones' album, garnered 7 million in radio audience from all monitored stations for the week ending Feb. 4. That's not exactly gangbusters, but Jones has never counted on conventional and commercial radio stations as her most ardent supporters. That said, "Thinking" does hold at No. 5 on the Triple-A chart and moves 10-7 on the Smooth Jazz radio chart ... Jones performed Jan. 29 on the "Today" show, and will visit "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" this evening ... Unsurprisingly, the album was sale-priced for less than $10 at Target, Best Buy, Circuit City, Kmart and Wal-Mart ... Did Jones' debut -- along with the other 23 bows on The Billboard 200 -- finally halt the year-to-year slide that we've been seeing for weeks now? Nope. See Market Watch below -- we're down 14% compared with the same week of 2006.

I wish Billboard would have given updated total sales for CAWM since it is #3 on the Catalog chart this week.

Variety is reporting that Norah will be on "60 Minutes" this week. That's a nice slot since it comes on CBS right before the Grammy Awards. Also, she'll perform on Letterman on V-day.

Norah did a nice job of Thinking About You last night on Leno. More chart news... Norah Jones blasts to No. 1 By JOHN WILLIAMS Senior Editor, JAM! Showbiz Norah Jones helped Canadian music stores break out of a sales funk with a strong debut on the album charts. The New York-based singer's full-length disc "Not Too Late" checked in at No. 1 with over 36,000 in sales, making it the biggest debut of '07, according to data compiled by Nielsen SoundScan. However, the album didn't match the first-week success of her last CD, 2004's "Feels Like Home," which racked up 73,000 in its debut. jam.canoe.ca/Music/Artists/J/Jones_Norah/2007/02/08/3559265-ca.html---- Norah Bows At No. 1 In Europe February 08, 2007 - Global NORAH JONES By Paul Sexton, London Norah Jones makes a victorious debut on European Top 100 Albums with "Not Too Late" (Blue Note/Parlophone), opening at the top of the composite chart after amassing no fewer than nine No. 1 debuts around the region. It starts at the top in the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Holland, Finland, Denmark and Norway, and climbs 25-1 in the Belgian region of Flanders. In February 2004, Jones' second album "Feels Like Home" opened at the Top 100 Albums summit after ten No. 1 debuts. It led the composite chart for five weeks, stayed in the top five until May and ended the year as Europe's bestselling album of 2004. "Not Too Late" sells 60,000 in its first week in the United Kingdom, according to charts compiler the Official U.K. Charts Company, compared to 236,000 for "Feels Like Home." The new set also arrives at No. 2 in Ireland, No. 3 in Spain, No. 5 in Portugal and No. 6 in Italy, and climbs 12-4 in Wallony. www.billboard.biz/bbbiz/content_display/industry/e3i1bca43ffb402e1d78aa1f30341241d2b---- The album hit #1 in: #1 US #1 UK #1 CANADA #1 GERMANY #1 AUSTRIA #1 FRANCE #1 BELGIUM (FLANDERS) #1 SWITZERLAND #1 SWEDEN #1 FINLAND #1 NORWAY #1 DENMARK #1 NEW ZEALAND Has been #1 international album in Japan for past 2 weeks and now #1 on Eurochart.

The CBS site has some quotes and video up from the upcoming 60 Minutes feature: "I felt really bad," says Jones of her Grammy success. "I felt like I went to somebody else's birthday party and I ate all their cake without anybody else getting a piece." The 27-year-old says she isn't sure where her career is headed and with the phenomenal success she's had thus far, it doesn't matter to her. It's just more cake. "I feel I've had my cake and I've eaten it and it tasted great and I don't need another piece," says Jones. www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/02/08/60minutes/main2449673.shtml
