I was being general with the term "faded." Ashanti is not in the same boat as Brandy as her last album didn't even scan gold(the same may be with Monica)--a huge failure and Mya has never reached superstar level--she's the female counterpart to Tyrese. All of Mya's album have have sold at least a million records, unlike Tyrese. Yes, but what I'm getting at is that they've always been second tier r&b acts whose hot dance moves seem to overshadow their music.

this whole "faded" term is getting old. stop with the comparing, its just silly now lol Why because you say so? Comparing will aways occur in music, it's inevitable.

I miss her multiplatinum-platinum days as well. And yes "After The Storm" has been certified platinum long ago. This album I believe is certified gold for shipments. She's sold nearly 300k now. But the album I know has shipped 500k. I hope she actually sells 500k. See Monica messed up releasing "ETTBD" as a first single she should have brought on a ballad first. And I also blame her record label for rushing this album out and for not giving this album the proper promotion it deserved. Monica suggested that she now regrets not siding with Clive on the single choices. Now he's turn his back and allow her to wallow in her own mess as he concentrates on Alicia, Whitney, and now Jennifer.

Although I don't think that ETTBD should even be on the album (easily the weakest song, IMO), there was nothing as great for a lead off single as So Gone. I still hope Sideline Ho does well.

I liked Monica before she became a ghetto ho. One of the worst career metamorphoses in modern music history. But it wouldn't sting so much if the output music was actually good most of the time.

She's always been "a ghetto ho" though. Leave the poor girl be, LOL.

I think people don't think of her as ghetto because her career height was the pop days of "For You I Will", "The First Night" & "Angel Of Mine".

"Why Her" definitely needs to be the next single! I'm disappointed with the "Makings of Me Era", especially Dozen, and Everytime didn't make it to the top 10 on Billboard hot 100, or pop.

I thought After the Storm was great. Songs like So Gone and Knock Knock were a little ghetto, but for the most part original and maybe even classy. Songs like Everytime The Beat Drop (which I do love) are what I didn't really need to hear Monica doing.

^ So did I. I still think "Breaks My Heart" is my favorite track off it.
In terms of this album, I've been hooked on "Getaway" for the past week.

"Sideline" has been smartly scrapped and J has now settled on an official fourth single/video:
"Hell No" feat. Twista

Took them awhile. This would've been my choice for a single a long time ago.

"Hell No" and "Why her" are the best songs on her albums so I'm very glad!

ugh why did sideline flop? It never went for adds at mainstream, J waited too long on the video, and Mo didn't promote it anywhere. I stand by what I said about "Why Her" being her smash hit off this album but "Hell No" is a good choice as well. I think it'll be a hit, too.

Sounds to me, "Hell No" will be the part 2 of "So Gone." Eventually, this will do better in pop radio, just as "So Gone," and "U Should've Known Better."

Not entirely. "So Gone" never went for adds at pop, and peaked at like 97 or something.
