People better listen to the real deal before they expose themselves to this "tribute". I've heard "Summertime". It isn't great, but it's also not a TW song. Her voice is passable.

Well clearly the original is wayyy better than this. And I'm not quite familiar with Tom Waits so I borrowed two of my mom's CD's & I'll give it a listen this weekend. :)

Feb 16, 3:06 AM EST Hasty Crowns Johansson as Woman of Year
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) -- Not quite the Oscar, but Scarlett Johansson still was all smiles Thursday about being crowned the Harvard Hasty Pudding woman of the year. And happy to participate in the rambunctious roasting that goes along with the honor.
She participated in a mock SAT exam, and endured a lampooning of her famous unclad Vanity Fair cover pose. But the blonde actress kept mum when asked to make an analogy between director Woody Allen, in whose films she has appeared, and fashion designer Issac Mizrahi, who groped her breast on the red carpet at the Golden Globes last year.
She was gleeful, though, in accepting the award.
"Thank you so much for this fabulous golden pot. It's been such a wonderful day. This is the closest I'll ever get to a Harvard degree for sure," Johansson said. "It's a real honor and I can't wait till later tonight when we party."
Before the roast, Johansson led a parade through Harvard Square, sitting in the back of a silver Bentley convertible, flanked by Harvard students in drag.
Johansson, 22, has appeared in films including "Lost in Translation," "The Girl with a Pearl Earring," "Match Point," and "The Black Dahlia."
Ben Stiller is to be crowned Harvard's Hasty Pudding Man of the Year on Feb. 23.
The awards are given to performers who have made a "lasting and impressive contribution to the world of entertainment" by Hasty Pudding Theatricals, the nation's oldest undergraduate drama troupe.
Last year's honorees were Halle Berry and Richard Gere.

She looks amazing.
Planning on seeing The Prestige tonight. (=
Oh and there's a a record label now, apparently.
The album, entitled Scarlett Sings Tom Waits will consist entirely of Johansson's cover versions of Tom Waits songs. It was recorded during the winter of 2006-2007 and will be released on Rhino Records' Atco label in spring 2007.

Scarlett Johansson: Not Looking for Love "I don't focus on finding a boyfriend," she says of being single
By Stephen M. Silverman People Magazine Apr 06, 2007 10:00AM EDT
Scarlett Johansson has partied with Justin Timberlake, but she is mum on relationship rumors about the pair.
"We live in a world today where if two people are single - and one's a guy and one's a girl and they're both famous - you're going to be linked with somebody," the actress, 22, tells Seventeen for its May issue, when asked about the two of them. "If it's somebody one week, it's going to be somebody else the next week. It's either me or Jessica Biel."
Johansson, who most recently dated her Black Dahlia co-star Josh Hartnett, says she's not focused on finding a boyfriend. "When I'm single, I don't focus," she says. "I focus on a guy if he's a boyfriend, but I don't focus on finding a boyfriend." With a laugh, she adds, "They're never around when you want them."
In February, while being roasted by Harvard's Hasty Pudding Club, she announced that her dream date was "Probably Patrick Swayze," though she has also expressed high praise for her "criminally sexy" - her words - Match Point director Woody Allen.
Her first love, she also reveals to Seventeen, was "a great boyfriend in high school. ... I totally thought we were going to be together forever, which is how it should be."
When she is with a boyfriend, she says, "If someone is straightforward with me, I'm very confident. But if he's playing a weird mind game, I get very self-conscious."
Still, were she to be in a relationship, she says she would like it to be surrounded by a sense of mystery.
"I can't stand mind games," she says. "But I think you should be mysterious and flirtatious. You should always have some mystery in a relationship. You don't wanna know what the person's thinking all the time. And you don't want him to know what you're thinking all the time."

Oh, and for the record - I'm not at all sick of actresses undertaking singing. I'm deathly tired of singers undertaking acting. Stick to your music videos, you pill-popping whores.

How to Be Scarlett Johansson's Perfect Man SUNDAY MAY 13, 2007 06:00 AM EDT
By Jennifer Garcia
What does Scarlett Johansson look for in a guy?
"I think it's the full picture," the 22-year-old star of the upcoming Nanny Diaries tells PEOPLE. "I look at a guy and think he has such a cute nose or such nice eyes, but there isn't one feature I look for in a guy. One thing that I look for that isn't physical is a healthy confidence."
Healthy enough, she says, to compensate for those men who don't quite measure up in the looks department to Jared Leto or Josh Hartnett, both of whom she's dated.
"If somebody is confident in a way that you would admire - being strong, funny - that can make someone that you might not initially be attracted to more attractive," Johansson says.
As for herself, the actress, recently featured as one of PEOPLE's 100 Most Beautiful, says she still has her own down days.
"I think that everybody has days that feel more accepting of their own body than other days," she says. "I wouldn't say it's something I struggle with. I have what I have and I try and appreciate that."
So when does she feel her most beautiful?
"That's a tough question," she says. "I never think about things like that. I think I feel most beautiful when someone that I love and trust tells me that I am. Then you really do feel it. When people you trust and have affection for tell you that you're beautiful then you really feel like it's special."

For the past month or so (before going to Spain), she has been pretty much out of the public eye. I think it's safe to assume she dedicated at least a bit of that time to this record.

Movies, music keep Johansson busy
By Sandy Cohen Associated Press
Life is good for Scarlett Johansson. The actress and aspiring singer just recorded her debut album and has a calendar full of film projects that will keep her busy for months.
At 22, Johansson has taken direction from Robert Redford, Brian DePalma and Woody Allen, with whom she's working for the third time. She's shared the screen with John Travolta, Bill Murray, Steve Buscemi and Hilary Swank in roles that have seen her as an outcast, action star and little girl lost.
In her latest project, "The Nanny Diaries," which opened Friday, Johansson stars opposite Oscar nominees Laura Linney and Paul Giamatti. Set in her hometown, New York City, the film tells the story of a 21-year-old college grad who learns what money can and can't buy when she takes a job as a live-in nanny for a super-wealthy couple and their son.
Speaking by phone from Barcelona, where she's shooting Allen's latest film, Johansson talked about music, her movie career and how she avoids the pitfalls and paparazzi that plague her Hollywood contemporaries.
Q. Are you Woody Allen's new muse?
A. We both kind of think that term is so bizarre. You know, it's not like I come bring him inspiration when he's got writer's block at 3 in the morning. We like to work together. It's an easy working relationship and a really nice friendship, so it works out. But I don't know if it goes much further than that.
Q. What attracted you to "The Nanny Diaries"?
A. Shari (Springer Berman) and Bob (Pulcini) were attached to it ... had written the script, and I was a big fan of "American Splendor." So I met with them ... and we just got along incredibly well. The three of us spent hours talking about everything, and we have sort of similar upbringings, and we're all from New York. That's what attracted me to the project to begin with. Of course, (also) just the opportunity to play somebody who was a girl who I very easily could have been friends with or known. I felt like I'd never really had the opportunity to play someone that I could so easily relate to, someone my own age. I just really loved the script. I thought it was clever and funny and a nice opportunity to do kind of a broad comedy. It all was very attractive.
Q. How did you like working in your hometown?
A. New York is such a great city to shoot in. ... It's been a long time since I've been able to shoot at home, and it's just so much fun. It's wonderful to be able to just see your friends after work, to be able to go home and sleep in your own bed. It's just such a pleasure.
Q. What about this album you're releasing? It's all Tom Waits covers?
A. I've always been a huge fan of Tom Waits, and I had this golden opportunity to make an album however I wanted and it's kind of a dream chance. ... Originally, I thought that I would do an album of standards and I wanted to include a Tom Waits song. And I don't know, I thought maybe everybody does standards, and so, I see Tom Waits as being kind of a composer of modern standards, and so it seemed appropriate that I could interpret his songs. Obviously, it's not an album where I'm trying to sound like him. It would be impossible. He writes such beautiful songs and incredible melodies, and they're so cinematic and kind of open-ended, so I felt like it would be something that I could be inspired by.
Q. Has music always been an interest of yours?
A. I actually started acting because I wanted to be in musicals when I was a little girl. That's where my dream career was going to be when I was 8 years old, like the young Cosette in "Les Misérables." Then I started making films and I never ended up doing musical theater. Of course, by the time I turned 13, I kind of buried that part of myself. You know, it's always been there. I've always loved to sing and I've always loved music and listened to lots of music and all kinds of music.
Q. Unlike some of your contemporaries, you're not a famous partier and haven't been arrested for drunk-driving. How do you stay on track?
A. I don't think necessarily that there's trouble looming around the corner for everyone involved in this industry. ... I have a really wonderful family that's very supportive. Luckily, I never really struggled with any kind of, I don't know, image problems or addictions. You know, I think it's not just people in Hollywood. ... It's kind of part of just growing up and growing up in the world that we live in today, where everything is so available and so fast-paced.
It's hard, I think, for a lot of youths to avoid these pitfalls. Obviously the availability of whatever it may be, whether it's drugs or alcohol or partying or whatever, is dangerous for people who are prone to addiction or that kind of lifestyle. I'm just fortunate enough to never have had that inclination. I guess I attribute that to my parents and friends, and the way I was raised.

Well at least she's still planning on releasing it some time.
She'll be very busy for a while, so I don't see how she could fit it in her schedule, but maybe next Spring or something she'll finish it.
August : Filming of Woody Allen Spanish Project September : Filming of He’s Just Not That Into You October : Production of The Spirit Winter : Filming of Mary Queen of Scots
And then she'll have to promote The Other Boleyn Girl (unless it's not meant to be a huge hit), which is released in February.
