"I've been in the studio recording my new album 'Go' with Will.I.Am, Pharrell and some of my other favourite producers, I'm also going to be doing a duet with Alicia Keys. "This is a new, sexier, harder more mature Mario. Usher and Ne-Yo watch out: I'm going to smash the charts!" www.mtv.co.uk/channel/mtvuk/news/02032007/exclusive_mario_interviewNo "Just A Friend"?...awwwwwww. I miss it.

Mario Gets Back To Making Music With Akon, Timbaland, NeptunesAfter acting alongside Hilary Swank, crooner drops Go! on July 17. If you ask Mario the singer about Mario the actor, he'll say he keeps his two professions completely separate — but the similarities just seem too hard to ignore. After starring alongside Hilary Swank in "Freedom Writers" (see "Mario Sheds A Tear For 'Freedom,' Says He Wants To Direct"), Mario's loaded his next LP, Go! — now due July 17 — with an equally star-studded lineup of producers and songwriters, including Timbaland, the Neptunes and Akon. If you ask Mario, though, just like working with Oscar-winning Swank, communication is the key when putting together a project with so many people involved. Other producers penciled in to work on Go! are Mr. Collipark, Sean Garrett, Dre & Vidal, Warren Campbell and Jim Jonsin. "I worked with a lot of different people [for this album]," Mario explained. "And you got to talk with the writers and producers and really be in front of it and really give your perspective on things. That's the best way to go — be involved and creatively help to come up with certain situations that cater to who you are." One of the new tracks is "Do Right," which Mario described as a more personal song based in part on his childhood growing up in Baltimore. Mario revealed to MTV News earlier this week that he and Akon collaborated on the song. "I kind of went in and told Akon about a lot of the personal things I experienced," the singer said. "I didn't want to do a club record or like a fun record. I wanted to do a more serious record that would cater to some of the people who may have experienced what I have." Similarly, now that he's tucked a few films under his belt, Mario is taking his time selecting the next role and is interested in more dramatic roles. "I've been struggling with [picking] what to do," he said. "It's been difficult for me. Of course I want to do something that's top of the line and amazing, but I also don't want to rush and put myself in a pressured situation, 'cause it may not be pulled off as well. So I'm still really working on that. I'm still working on finding the right next role. Hopefully by the end of the summer I'll be shooting the next one." Up next for Mario is the video for his lead single, "Breathe," which he said he'll shoot in two weeks with the song being released to radio by the end of the month. After "Breathe," the Polow da Don-produced "Crying Out" is slated as the follow-up.

Is that piece old or are they really going back to "How Do I Breathe" as a single?

I hated the song Go! but of course it was the Neptunes so what else can I expect? I do love Kryptonite and the singles though.

I've heard "Crying Out For Me", and I like it a lot.
I liked most of his last album, and I'm getting this one for sure.

Release date bumped again... Mario Teams With Akon, Timbaland On New SetApril 19, 2007, 11:00 AM ET Mariel Concepcion, N.Y. Almost three years after the release of his sophomore project, 2004's "Turning Point," which spawned hit singles like the Ne-Yo penned "Let Me Love You," R&B singer Mario will return July 31 with his next J album, "Go." "You got different types of artists -- timeless artists, artists that look good right now, some that look good later and others that only look good on video but don't sell no records," the 20-year-old singer tells Billboard.com. "I'm one of the artists that fortunately sell records. So, you make your pick." "Go" features A-list production from the likes of Akon, Pharrell, Timbaland, Polow Da Don, Big Reese and Jasper and Stargate. The latter is responsible for the first single, "How Do I Breathe." The Polow Da Don-produced "Crying Out for Me," written by Jasper, is anticipated to be the second single. "It's a song about me wanting to come and save a girl because I don't want to be stuck in the middle, seeing her get hurt while I know she still loves [him]," says Mario. "The track really feels like a late-'80s, early-'90s record." Mario's production team, Nightriders, produced three songs on the album as well, and has recently worked with Jennifer Lopez, Chris Brown, Usher and Raven-Symone. "I'd say I wrote and produced about 20% of this album, though I don't want to call myself a producer," Mario says. "I'm definitely more of a writer." "Go" also includes the title cut ("It's different from a lot of records that people would expect me to do," Mario says) and "Kryptonite." The artist is planning to tour later this summer, with dates to be announced.

"How Do I Breathe" sucks. Why is he trying to release that as his single? That came out like 2 months before "Crying Out For Me" did, LOL.

Well "Crying Out For Me" and "How Do I Breathe" both came out a long time ago. J just took months trying to figure out what they wanted to be the first single. I think "How Do I Breathe" is a good song. I LOVE "Kryptonite". It should be the second single, but Mario's already said that the second single would be "Crying Out For Me".
