Really disappointed that she performed at the Mar A Lago party last night. I guess you can take the girl out of Long Island, but you can't take Long Island out of the girl...

It has also been exposed that she charges only like $400 per gig. Love Will Lead You Back coming to a quinceañera near you!

This "cancel" thing is a bit ridiculous. In any event, Taylor's long past having much commercial clout, so I don't think this is going to impact her much. She'll still have some dedicated fans who will enjoy her for her voice and music. When I listen to "I'll Always Love You," among others, this incident isn't going to dampen my enjoyment of it. Those virtual Pride and other types of benefit events may think twice about booking her to avoid any type of backlash.

^Perhaps. We'll see if there's any follow-up on it from her end.

I can't say that I'm a big fan of Taylor's. I don't follow her but I was admittedly disappointed to find out she did the Trump gig.

Terri Nunn of Berlin issued statement apologizing and also offered some details about the circumstances in which she was booked to perform at that event. Her Berlin bandmate David Diamond contradicted her version of what happened by stating that he knew exactly where the event was and specifically would not be attending/performing. Terri claimed she was "afraid" but she didn't look at all scared or frightened in videos of her performing when she was jumping on random people's shoulders without a mask in sight...

Some of the peaks are like huh? Tell it and Prove deserved top 3 more than the others -except the two ballads. And I really liked her cover of Can’t get enough… but I know I’m in the minority around here.

I enjoyed so much her chart run plus some additional club hits in the late 90s/early 2000s and had the chance of seeing her live in Vegas once. Her performance for Trump at Mar-a-Lago a couple of years ago really turned me off unfortunately. With such a big gay following, that they last thing I would've imagined from her. I guess she was in need of money....

I will say this...Taylor Dayne made some of the most phenomenal music of the 80s. Her first album is stellar and I like her 2nd album. Musically and vocally, she soars past Tiffany and Debbie Gibson.
And I know everyone is criticizing TD for the Trump gig...but she did need the money. She did not make a lot of money from her heyday, and the money she did make was taken by the people that were handling her money. She made enough to live on throughout the 90, but not enough to keep herself stable.
If you watch her interviews she is very open about this type of stuff. I hate that Arista did that to her, because she deserves so much more
Also, Miss Dayne has not sold over 75M records ww. I estimate her sales to be between 15-25M. Singles and albums combined.

Yep, a good number of great songs and amazing voice! I never had her on the Tiffany/Gibson category in my mind though. I don't, I had her more with Jody Watley, Paula Abdul, etc. And of course none had Taylor's voice! I can't recall what Arista did to her. I may have watched something on youtube, but can't recall. She deserved to be huge with a longer pop career.

I may dare to say her version was the FIRST I heard of the song, ha ha. Believe it or not. Barry's I may have heard later on. Same happened with Gaye's What's Going On. Cyndi Lauper's was the first version I head of it. : )

Back in the day I always wondered if she was ever approached to be one of the very first judges on American Idol. You know, if they thought of her the way they thought of Paula Abdul.

I’m seeing Taylor Dayne and Tiffany live in concert next month. I can’t wait. Taylor’s catalog is bar none one of the most underrated in pop music. It’s really angers me that Clive Davis didn’t invest in her as a long term artist. After 93’s Soul Dancing, there should have been a real follow up instead of ushering her out the door with a greatest hits album. F-U-C-K Y-O-U Clive. You old queen. Attachment Deleted

She deserved to be huge with a longer pop career. It's arista records...so yk...their history with managing artists finances... Arista gave Taylor Dayne bad contracts. She was a young artist and at first they signed her to a singles deal until TITMH blew up in Europe and US and they had t rush to get the album out and signed her to a full on recording contract. She was young and everything happened so fast, and they took advantage of that. She made money, enough to buy a house and some decorations, but not enough to live lavishly like she should've been. Taylor, according to herself, had brand deals back in the day and she had money stolen from her. From what she was saying, she did not handle her own money, and did not understand how the business worked and now because of that she is a smarter businesses woman. The same thing kind of happen to Diana Ross, except she became a smarter business woman in '81 when she was still in high demand and bringing in millions.

I love all her hits from 1987-1990. My dad's fave from her is "I'll Always Love You".

We're scheduled to see Taylor perform next month in Philadelphia; All-4-One is the opening act. Shall we expect Taylor to do all of the hits?
"I'll Always Love You" has always been my favorite TD single.

Also, Taylor wanted to write her songs and Clive wasn’t having it. I remember him mentioning this specifically in his book. I thought he said she got to write more for her third cd and mentioned the only thing that did ok was a cover so there you go. I don’t remember exactly what he said. I haven’t read his book since it came out. He said many singers want to write but is probably better off not. I was a fan of hers and owned 3 of her first 4 albums and her Greatest Hits.

I wish "Original Sin" had been on her hits sets. Was it promoted?
I was a fan of Dayne from the jump; loved "Tell It To My Heart" and then liked basically every hit she had.
It's sad she had financial issues, and I'm sure not having written any of her hits was a hindrance as she wasn't collecting royalties. Of course I don't know if she had written songs if they would have then been hits.

Yeah, she wrote several songs on her third album including two of the non-cover singles and neither was a hit. Her days were likely numbered anyway... US radio dumped most dance-pop acts (aside from the really big names like Michael, Janet, Madonna...) by 1992-ish because tastes were moving away from that sound.

They made a video for OS, but I figured it wasn't promoted hard because the movie was a disaster and Taylor was at the end of her contract. It's a challenging song, but she gives one of her most powerful and controlled vocal performances. Her voice was perfect for Jim Steinman's work - I wish she'd done more with his catalogue.

Top 40 radio really did drop her pretty quickly after Soul Dancing. I mean, the nine singles prior to "Send Me a Lover" were all top 10 at the format. And then "Send..." stalled at 26 (per radio * records), and none of her releases thereafter even cracked the top 40/50 at pop. "I'll Wait," also from SD, did manage to bubble under at No. 3, and then "Beautiful," some 13 years later, made the top 25 at AC- but that was it.

In my alternate music universe, Taylor Dwayne got a global comeback as Anastacia An interesting tidbit is that two of her songs were covered by Latin artist and became pretty big hits in their genres —bigger than Taylor’s songs were in Latin markets: I’ll always love you by Tito Nieves (a salsa cover) youtu.be/EfN-0GinVgcQuién eres tú by Yuri (a Spanish version of Love will lead you back) youtu.be/TEZ3OQORnA0

Don’t forget Taylor co-wrote “Whatever You Want” for Tina Turner which was a decent hit in Europe.
In heinsight, Taylor should have produced a quick follow up to Can’t Fight Fate to keep the momentum going and let the Clive Davis machine do it’s thing. She could have easily sat back and had the same amount of hits Celine Dion had in the 90’s.

When she was younger, her facial contours--specifically, the soft transitions between the different facial planes--made it difficult for the general public to be able to even recognize her. That may have limited her star power.

She could have easily sat back and had the same amount of hits Celine Dion had in the 90’s. I always heard that Arista rejected the first version of what would be SD, which is the reason it was delayed and that CGEOYL was a late addition because the album really didn't have 'hit' material. I love 'I'll Wait,' but the rest is so weak compared to CFF. The rock-edge to CFF was a really good direction for Taylor, especially YCFF and IBYS. Somehow I think Taylor was so over the music business at that point that she didn't want Clive's machine. Taylor was so easy to market: amazing voice, energetic, attractive, great personality and stage presence. She really didn't have any obstacles. I think things have worked out pretty well for her regardless.
