WQSX in Boston, has been classified as "CHR/Rhythmic" since about last summer. Before that it was referred to as "Rhythmic Hit" because its not your typical CHR/Rhy. station, its like WKTU in NY...its a dance station. But today it switched back to Rhythmic Hit. Does anyone know why they did this?

I call it a classification change. I define formats by the Arbitron ratings, not by what Radio and Records think they are.

Makes sense. WQSX does not at all match the Rhythmic panel. They would fit on a dance panel with stations like WKTU and WPYM.

The question is, should a popular dance station be denied to count towards charts because they are different? There are enough ignored or indicator stations in general that R and R does not provide proof of a song's popularity. Although there aren't enough dance stations for me to expect R and R to make a dance chart anytime soon, I think it would be nice to have at least the three dance stations with a 2.0 or higher rating (WKTU, WQSX, and WPYM). Golden Eagle Boy, WPYO changed, not WPYM. Monitoring those three stations still is only a minority of the commercial dance stations, with WXXP, WXQQ, KPTI, KNRJ, and KKDL being the others.
