It's so weird that Gavin DeGraw is doing so well....hardly anyone I know even knows who sings it, a lot of people haven't even heard it, and pretty much no one LIKES it. I certainly don't.
And to think it might be #1 soon....*shudder*

Switchfoot and Seether feat. Amy Lee are getting payola.
edit: Trick Daddy is/was also.

I love the Gavin DeGraw song, but that's just me. And people don't have to necessarily know who sings the song on the radio to like it...a lot of times on the radio they'll play people that just sing some of the melody to request something, b/c they don't know the name of the song or the artist. FWIW, it's also been the theme song of One Tree Hill for around two seasons there, so it's had time to inculcate itself into some of CHR/Pop's target audience.

If Gavin gets #1 it won't be for long because Snoop is gaining huge numbers and is on his way to the top.

Somebody's been studying their vocabulary words. ;) I happen to like the song too, and hope it goes to the top. :)

LOL, the song is called "N Dey Sey". The song it samples is called "True" though. Would that be "True" by Spandau Ballet? If so, that's the second song in thirteen years to sample that song (the first was "Set Adrift On Memory Bliss" by PM Dawn, another artist now ignored by CHR/Pop radio, and I don't think they've even gone on to AC stations ;))

Eric, is your station WFBC? If so, you are in luck, because that is an F-ing tight station.
Anyone remember that thread I posted a while back using 'FBC's playlist on their site busting all those payola songs? Thanks to them identifying their "CD preview" (payola) songs, I've nailed Yellowcard (I think I nailed them the first time around for Ocean Avenue...hmm...) with Only One. Also nailed Switchfoot and Trick Daddy, which Eric hinted to.
Damn, the upcoming #1 contenders are GOOD! I Don't Want To Be, Drop It Like It's Hot, Let Me Love You and True are all way good songs.
Could recurrentitis and/or having other songs on the chart be killing Destiny's Child, Maroon 5, and Hoobastank?

Could recurrentitis and/or having other songs on the chart be killing Destiny's Child, Maroon 5, and Hoobastank? Yup. I actually should have nailed it before. I used to talk to Chris Taylor a ton when he was doing overnights...and we had all these jokes about CD Preview, and then Scary Ted (who now is at "The Planet") told me they get millions a year off of playing CD Preview. Infact...Chris Taylor and I had the joke about it going so long, that (since i'm an idiot), I'd make 100 flyers that say "Check out cool new music with Chris Taylor and CD Preview Weeknights From 11:00PM:30AM then make a junky little t-shirt and go to the mall and pass out the flyers and take pictures of people holding them. All that for 10 bucks...haha I still have the shirt, but I lost the link to the site I made with the pics. I also took him and Matt Lesley some pop tarts one night...haha
