Is there a CHR Pop chart this week? If not, do we still do a topic?

We usually do a topic using speculations of how the Top 40 chart would look if R&R printed the weekend of December 24, which they will not. And someone usually posts the Top 100 chart, using Mediabase figures.

Nelly will hold on for this week. Gavin will take over next week and then when the break is over Mario will be #1! So Gavin will never have an official #1.

I'm going to predict that Nelly will still be #1 after the three week break due to the fact that airplay is all but frozen for about a week and a half in there.

Now I understand why they have a break. Didn't think of it that way before. Thanks for the explanation.

About where do you suppose Gavin's spins will peak? I'm thinking at around 8100 or so. His bullet has slowed down significantly, considering he was gaining upwards of 800 just a few days ago.

Well, this might be true, but at least when the year-end countdowns air on the radio station, Gavin will get many more spins from those shows than Mario! No seriously I don't mind the Mario song at all (I like it actually), but there is nothing THAT special about it that it should be gaining +1200 and ascending to #1. I must be missing something...

I think it's a power vacuum thing. It's like the PDs looked around and didn't see anything that looked like the next "it" song, so since they picked this one and went with it.

You missed the payment transaction. That was very funny. About today's update. Avril will soon be no14 since songs are falling. Ashlee's bullet went up more. Ok, it is probably payola but if she is gaining then she is gaining. It is really going well for GC. I wonder how high Predictable got. Gavin is 1500 from Nelly. Quite a lot but it is getting smaller for every day. I know that with the two week break he'll never be no1 but no2 is good enough. I'm happy for the success Ryan is having with his song.

Again, everyone seems to be forgetting that bullets for new songs are going to drop dramatically over the next two weeks.

(which, BTW, I was talking about when I mentioned Gavin DeGraw peaking at 8100 spins). If so, I guess 8100 is about right on the money as far as peak spins are concerned.

Gavin's bullet seems to have started the dramatic slide early. Always an overachiever. ;)

Yeah, I'm not sure how it's doing on the h1r chart, but on the h1m chart, it's bullet's down to 372. As I said, late last week, it had a gain of near 800, IIRC. Just think of how it'll be down during the next few weeks. If it does, it might not make the Top 40 of the year, hence, I won't have to make a special chart run for it when it comes time to work on my annual chart project (if it makes the top 40, I have it debuting in the Top 40 the week that it re-enters the Top 50 on the R&R chart, and I even have it at #1 on the last three charts of the year, two of which haven't even been figured out yet) Of course, if "Roses" weakens significantly, the song might overtake it. We'll just have to see how things pan out. "Dare You To Move" is sure to beat out "My Band" by D12, which is hardly being played at all. In eleven days, it has only gotten 150 spins. Other than that, I don't foresee any songs entering the Top 40 of the year. "Broken" by Seether featuring Amy Lee seemed like a possibility last year, but it's weakening quite significantly and will probably continue to do so. And, as far as I know, no songs that are not yet in the Top 50 of the year have the chance to snag a spot in the Top 40 of the year. I've decided to go ahead and start the prep work of my project, putting the special chart run for "Over and Over" on reserve. Since that song is a late-year hit, I can always decrease its points if it doesn't overtake "Roses", which was a hit during mid-year. If it falls below "Over And Over" for the final year-end tally, I can amend its chart run. Then, around mid-January, I'll probably be done with it and then it'll be time for the guessing game. After this, I'm gonna sort of back off on the guessing game thing, since that's been way overdone in the past few months. It seems I've created a monster. ;)

Is hating Gavin just the popular thing to do? Because he sounds EXACTLY like anything from Maroon 5 and everyone seems to love that crap.

Maroon5, far more nasally in singing voice. Also songs are more jazzy and musically interesting. Gavin, Bland vanilla crap with a crappy singing voice This is like when someone told me Train and Matchbox Twenty were similar (although I think they had a better point). No, no no. Matchbox Twenty can write songs and they can mix it up a whole hell of a lot better.

Is this also true of the h1m charts? Yes, because the H1M chart is basically the H1R chart with some extra stations. While the satellite and television stations may not play as many recurrents over the next two weeks, they still likely won't change their playlists since no songs are going for adds. --DanG

That's the kind of singing you DON'T want to do, so I don't know how that helps your argument. Granted, Gavin isn't like Maroon 5 at all, partly because M5 is a group and Gavin is a soloist. He's written all of his songs and he has at least 3 versions of every single of them because he's performed them so much. I doubt you've even listened to his entire CD.

I like the sound of M5's Adam guy...but Gavin is just blah. At first "I Don't Wanna Be" was okay, but after just a couple times, I could do without hearing it again! Then I got online and listened to clips of his CD...it's all the same.

Green Day is doing good. A bullet of 590 which is the second highest of the ones between 31 and 40.
Ashlee's bullet is now 373 and soon her audience impression will go over 10 million. She needs atleat 20 mil to reach Billboard top100.
Gwen has the third highest bullet in the group between 31 and 40. This song will probably do much better than her first single.
Next bunch between 21 and 30. GC are doing well and can soon become no27. Nothing else worth mentioning in this group I think.
Next group is the ones between 11 and 20. Soldier is doing really well and soon its bullet will be over 700. Kelly's will probably reach over 500 too. Avril is steady and doing everything it can to maintain its position.
I'm happy for Ryan. He still has a chance to reach the top10 and he is now in the top40 on Billboard. Way to go.
And the last group, 1-10. Gavin is closing in and is less than 1500 spins from Nelly but his bullet is less than 400 now. Mario still has a bullet over 1000.

Gavin DeGraw's bullet is down to 325 now, and I could swear that its current play total is the same as about this time yesterday.
Hmm, perhaps he won't quite make 8100 plays...
