Well, they are both poppy, but if you dont hear the entirely different musical influences at play in them...well I dont know what to say. This is the first time I think I have ever even heard them compared. If you compare the vocals acapella, they sound VERY similar.

If you compare the vocals acapella, they sound VERY similar. But the vocals are not acapella. You could take any rock song and pure pop song and say that "well, the verses are kind of slow with a harder chorus" You could practically compare any song from any genre that way. Would that make them "extremely similar and sound very alike" to you?

And why does it matter if her songs sound the same? (Which I dont think they do) If they are good songs, and becoming hits, WHO CARES?

"Since U Been Gone" was such a big departure for her, I remember how shocked I was when I first heard it. This girl is making all the right career moves right now.

Thank you ;) Seriously, when When I'm Gone, Here Without You, or Away From the Sun come on the radio, I don't know which one it is until the chorus. But I don't think any of Kelly's songs sound similar... I can SEE the comparisons with BTHE and SUBG, but nothing too major. But Miss Independent and SUBG? No way.

not that it matters that any songs sound the same, but MI/SUBG do, not in sound, but how she sings, she'll sing softly and then rock out and back and fourth, that is the thing they have in common.

uh, that doesnt even make sense... Sure it does, and the point is valid. There's a case where it's the exact same song, same lyrics, same tune, but they sound completely different and are completely different genres. I agree with this point.

I agree with this point. Thats what I was arguing. She was arguing that despite being completely different genres, they sounded exactly alike. I was making the argument that two songs being in a different genre makes them sound...different

Anyway, I don't think they sound a like when you hear each song, but if you played each one acapella they would sound the same because they are in fact the same song. That was a bad example, but lets just stop arguing ;).

When I saw the video clip on the show I noticed it kinda sounded remixed? I mean she was singing it faster than the regular version. I actually kinda like that version more. I've heard it on the radio and I've heard the slower version. I wanna hear this sings fast remix! lol. Can't wait!

Supposedly, the reason parts of the song were sped up in the Access Hollywood segment is that portions of the video are in slow-motion, and they need to speed up the music when shooting those parts so that they sound normal when the footage is slowed down.

I personally like debates and I wish people wouldnt be so quick to jump in and say they shouldnt happen...but if its been played out, so be it :) I will never hold back from a good debate though-the forums would be boring as hell if we werent allowed to "argue"

That's why it should stop, haha.
