For the blogs that matter >>>subjective. and the urban blogs which are her market, that's the planet I based it on. The song got props. >>>true but many were left thinking ...is that it? many were expecting her to go harder...also many were thinking she is too damn old to be coming for a newbie considering the fact that she is a legend. Would you see Jay Z, Eminem, Kanye West coming after a newbie? There are reasons... In NYC, it's getting a lot of spins. According to her producer, she wrote it but that's irrelevant, >>>According to her albums, she wrote all of the songs on Hard Core, too...but we know the truth behind that ;) her delivery was on point. >>>True I've seen several specific hip hop blog categories, saying she slayed/ethered Nicki. >>>Wow...I think Nicki will be okay. I am surprised you have seen several sites say that, though This talk about sales is irrelevant. When Kim was out at her peak, there were many more female rap acts out so there was competition and the market was segmented. >>>That doesn't stop people from selling. Now, there is no one out commercially in the female rap category so I would expect Nicki to have great sales . >>>But hype doesn't always translate into sales. The fact that many thought that female hip hop was dead and still after all of her hits were questioning whether nicki could sell albums shows that just because she is featured on tracks doesn't mean that she is going to automatically sell because she is the only female. Otherwise, her single sales would be through the roof. Her team has done a great job in branding. In addition, there was no twitter, facebook and all of the other networking sites, blogs etc so in a sense having a more direct chanel to fans and potential fans, unfiltered with no competition is pretty much an easy dunk shot. No actually...plenty of celebs network with their fans daily...still can't go gold or platinum. Actually, it is easier to become overexposed and have your "15 minutes" end quicker. People could easily have gotten tired of her prior to album release with over a year and a half of features...it's not cut and dry. Nicki and her team just played the game right. They paid homage to Kim to get people talking with that photo. Then she started to do her flirty sexual raps as features...minimize that style of rapping as she progress and started talking about more relatable topics for a wider audience. They branded her image right and she took care of her publishing rights, merchandising and other business things...pretty much she learned from the mistakes of past women in hip hop and took tips from the best and made it her own. I think people will see that it is going to be more than her being "hot right now" but I have been wrong before so... @jazzysoul Which blogs have you been reading? Go to: www.concreteloop.com and look at their Saturday posting of this story. That post has over 300 comments which I have NEVER seen at that site and overwhelmingly support goes to Kim and her track. Go to www.ew.com music section and read the story that they posted yesterday and yes, it's gone mainstream. Most of the commetns support Lil Kim and agree the track is superior. Go to www.hot97.com/newmusic/blogentry.aspx?BlogEntryID=10167407&PN=1www.hot97.com website, the station that dropped the Black Friday track as well as the station that hosted Nick Minaj's concert and her interview dissing Lil Kim. I'd say that 85% of those comments support Lil Kim and state that the track is superior. These aren't fan sites and I don't know anyone who take that Rolling Stone title seriously. This station plays young money and Nicki's music non stop but the listeners support Lil Kim. Go to www.necolebitchie.com I believe the story was posted on Friday or saturday. It's gotten over 300 posts. Go to www.thatgrapejuice.com they posted it on Sat or Fri and it has over 400 comments (unheard of) and overwhelmingly they go for Kim. Go to www. theybf.com www.toyaz-world.netShe has the wind at her back for the moment. Like I said, drop a low budget but effect video, try to get the song on itunes, do some promo appearances, drop a hot song in about a month and they drop an album in April 2011 but I think she will drop a mix tape first.

. Nicki's walking around like she's sold 50 million albums. She had better humble herself. You might be hot at the moment, but don't take that for granted, just because the other ladies aren't making music currently does not mean that they are hasbeens. They have all made great music, and contributed alot to hiphop. Kim's last album almost went gold, she did what she could under the circumstances. I totally agree. I love Nicki, but after watching "My Time Now", I have got to say that she turned me off. There she goes, going crazy, then crying and apologizing, looking as if she does a favor to her fans by noticing them... modesty!!! For me the peak of it all was saying that if she comes to a photoshoot, it should be classy. She should be THANKFUL that someone wants to take pictures of her and even deal with her. That with her album being not what I expected has really put me off. Oh well...

Sounds like someone can't handle their females all bossed up. I could tame Nicki easily and have her drinking milk from a saucer.

Gotta give Kim credit for doing her best to gain some attention and support. She better milk this renewed interest.

the first thing you see on most of them is "i miss this nicki, she's fake now". But if you look at videos for nearly any other singer, you see the same sort of comments about how so and so is fake, skanky, cheap, washed up, blah blah blah. There are people out there who will never be happy and satisfied with whatever someone puts out. These haters just like to hate. youtube should never have its comments taken seriously. thats the sight where i think comments are the worst

I don't know what world some of you all are living in but Nicki is getting trashed and Lil Kim is being supported and Black Friday is getting a lot of love. I don't look at fan sites. In fact i don't even know a Nicki or Lil Kim fan site as I don't stan for either although I like Kim's music better and I appreciate her contributinos to rap. I have read many urban, impartial blogs and HOt 97, EW site and the streets have Lil Kim nearly 100% on this. Don't underestimate the consumers of hip hop's intelligence. They recognize gimmicks when they see/hear them. they recognize swaggerjackers when they see them and I don't know anyone who likes Puffy. www.hot97.com/newmusic/blogentry.aspx?BlogEntryID=10167407&PN=1p.s Kim wont be able to put that song on Itunes as it has Nicki's sample in there. That would be a big lawsuit. If she were smart, she would take it out, edit it and put it on Itunes. The youtube clips of Black Friday have gone viral and international. I've seem tweets fromt he UK, Denmark, Germany, lol and overwhelmingly from an international perspective, people agree that BF slayed Nicki! I don't know anyone in Harlem who is supporting Kim. They all say pretty much the same thing. Nicki was inspired by Kim and now Kim is jealous that Nicki took things to a whole another level. Nicki is just a more talented prettier version of Lil' Kim.

I don't know about Harlem but the Bronx, her borrough are holding her down and many others. I just doing get the female different standard. Hip Hop is based on battles. What other male rapper would take a diss on RR and on HOt 97 in their town and not respond on wax. It would never happen. Kim responded and slayed.
the ball's in Nicki's court. It's all sort of entertaining. As to who is more talented, at this point, it's Kim until we see more of Nicki. I saw a youtube of someone asking her to freestyle and it was a hoot. She froze and offered up some pre-written song she was working with Soulja boy.
my point is this is good for female rap. It shouldn't be a monopoly. Let's get some other femcees on the radio including Kim.

There's no way she's paying for all those producers. I have a hunch no one will. Why wouldn't they?BTW that article about Kim supposedly working on Hardcore 2 is not true. I believe she's working on a mixtape first. I know she's up til the am with her producers making music now. Labels would be stupid not to sign her after this buzz if she hasn't already been signed. She has a built in audience, she has a catalogue of classics. With good beats and songs, she should be able to go at least Gold which would be great for her and any label as we can see folks who have hits singles still can't sell i.e Nelly, SouljaBoy, Flo-Rider etc Her last album didn't sell mre than 400k I believe because she went to jail and couldn't fully promote so that's mute. There is space for more female rappers especially for those that don't do that hip-pop mess. By the way, her twitter has been verified: @lilkimdagoddess

They only people still supporting Nicki and think Romans Revenge or anything else comes close are gays and children who don’t know anything about real hip hop. Nicki isnt talented she is a gimmick. Kim spit that Hard Core Brooklyn ish. Nicki cant see her with a flashlight.

^ co-sign. In fact Hot 97 just broke BFriday into their afternoon playlist saying the streets want it. I'm on twitter quite a lot and BF unanimosly by impartial folks is slaying. Its's been a nhot topic on twitter internationally for several days which says it's not a flash in the pan.
Common asked on his twitter for thoughts on BF and he said the results after about 25mis was Kim 60-40% interms of people liking it.
I just hate that the little kids want to box her in by talking about age. Jay-Z is 40, Snoop is almot 40, Rick Ross and Eminem are around 35, Kim is 35, they are still touring , making hits , on the air, why can't she live.
I dislike that Nicki used that phrase about 'has been', that's a set up for women in rap in an already male dominated genre.

What does that mean? doest mean that Lil Kim has to sit in a corner with tape over her mouth? Nicki can shine and Kim can do her thing a well. Nicki shouldn't require kim to be quiet for her to shine, that's silly. When Lil Kim was at her peak, there were several female rappers out. There is room for both so that's a strawman's argument. Anyhoo, Eve just said her album is coming out March 2011. Without any buzz, I wish her luck.

Eve can build buzz around her album with a strong single/promo. Some people are still talented enough to do things the normal way, even before this Nicki crap, Kim was touring selling out shows around the world, and she was on blogs and in the news here and there. It's just that now we are talking about her that much more.

Yes, I believe it also made worldwide news so if Kim is washed up, no one would be checking for her. Beefs with relevant artists can be a good thing if utilized properly.
I'm glad to see her team really working wiht her internet fans. That's a good look for her and should help her build her followers. The net is a mess with twitter stand wars. I just sit back and watch and be entertained.
It's gotten quite a bit of attention which is good for both artists as more people are awere of them. You can't buy this publicity and the lame artists interjecting are funny because they know that they wished for this kind of publicity i.e giving you the side eye Jah Rule!

NO one stops going because a 'rookie' is out. There should not be a monopoly in female rap. If Nicki truly has skills, she should be fine and not worry about Kim doin't her thing. There is no requirement for Kim to stop doing her because Niki is the 'it' girl right now. Is Nas, Lupe, Luda etc suppose to quit because Drake is the 'new guy' now. That makes no sense. The more Kim gets out there, the huge differences in talents will be exposed. I saw Nicki in concert and her stage show/performance is extremely poor. Kim slays live, there is no contest, I mean none.! Let them both go at it! Honestly, this hasn't been this exciting on the female side of rap for a minute.

I dont know straight men into Kim I am a straight man and I know many more guys that are...and that is purely sexist (stupid/ignorant) and immature to thing that any person can't like any type of singer, rapper, actor, etc. Get a clue and think for yourself instead of what has been brainwashed into your head.

Did I ask you to tell me about what you think your sexual preferences are? No. Thats irrelevant especially because you can not prove to me you are really straight. Outside of other male artists in the industry supporting her my experience is that Kim stans were gay males. To act like Nicki is some queen of the queens among rappers and Kim had all the hardcore thugs behind her... please. THAT is misinformed. Plz and thank you
