WOW!!!!! Just got back from the Rascal Flatts concert @ GM Place in Vancouver and it was INCREDIBLE!!! They put on an amazing show along with Taylor Swift opening!!!
I'll try to post a good review but it won't be as good as Dudley's reviews.
First I got to meet the guys before the show because I'm a fanclub member and got a M&G pass!!! I also got VIP seats in the 6th row floor seats 3&4!!! Also got 2 lower bowl seats for my parents. I took my brother who is 10 with down syndrome to the concert and he got to meet Rascal Flatts with me even though he wasn't a fanclub member. The women running the Pit Passes and Fanclub M&G was super nice and said it wouldn't be a problem if my bro meet them as well. They guys were super nice and as they walked into the room backstage Gary gave my bro five! Then we got our picture taken with the guys and I was wearing an Emerson Drive cowboy hat and hoodie with my Rascal Flatts t-shirt. My bro Chris told them how much he loves "Bless The Broken Road" which is his favourite song and I mentioned Emerson Drive then Gary grabbed my hoodie, folded the Emerson Drive logo back and said to hide it for the picture. They are so funny and last year when I met them I mentioned Carrie and they were joking about hijacking shipments of Carrie's cds because she was outselling them. We then got our pre-signed Rascal Flatts Still Feels Good Tour card to put the picture in once I get them from the online store.
The concert starts just as we are leaving the M&G. Taylor starts with "I'm Only Me When I'm With You". The crowd is all standing and going crazy!!! Our seats in the 6th row floor were amazing but a bit hard for my bro to see since he is only 10 and therefore not tall enough to see very well over the people standing in front. Taylor then sings "Our Song" and thanks the fans for helping get it to become her 1st #1 hit. Crowd sings along to all her songs and her vocals were really good throughout her set. She also plays "Teardrops On My Guitar", "Should've Said No", "Tim McGraw", "Picture To Burn" and at least 1 one more song but I can't remember what song. I loved the whole set and judging by the screaming crowd everyone else did as well. Taylor was in awe of the huge standing ovations after 2 of her songs that she was just standing there on stage soaking it all in!
We then get a half hour intermission and I have to wait in line for the slow ATM and once I get my cash order food and drinks which took a little while since the concession stand guy didn't wait until I gave my full order which by him doing 1 thing at a time made it take longer. The 1st song started while we were hurrying back to our seats. At the end of the show one of the crew guys gave me a set list so I won't forget any of the songs or the order of the songs. They started out with the crowd rousing "MAMG" then followed with shortened versions of "Fast Cars & Freedom" and "Melt". They have huge video screens behind them and catwalk surrounding the pit. After "Melt" Joe Don and Jay sing "I Feel Good". They then all join in and sing "My Wish" which is one of my favourites and follow it up with another favourite of mine "These Days". The cool part comes now as a bridge is lowered from the roof and connects to the catwalk and a stage at the end of the floor so people in the back get a great view!!! Joe Don and Jay walk out on the bridge and go over to the small stage where Joe Don since "Pieces" and then Jay sings "To Make Her Love Me". They then start "Yes I Do" and Gary come and joins them. Some ladies throw their bras onto the small stage and the guys play with them and do silly things. They have lots of banter throughout the show and it is very entertaining including Gary doing his best Taylor Swift impression and jokingly complaining about Taylor's "Our Song" blocking them from hitting #1 and Gary tries to sing the song while impersonating Taylor. It is hilarious. Jay also does his impression of female Rascal Flatts fans prepared to go to the concert. It is a hoot. They also talk about Canadian beer and how fine Canadian woman are. Okay back to the show on the small stage. Apparently their drummer is from Vancouver so they try to get him to sing but he doesn't and the guys then sing "You" and "Winner At A Losing Game" before returning to the main stage. They whole crowd is singing, screaming, and cheering for the duration of the show. I've almost lost my voice. Back on the main stage they sing "Stand" and Gary brings a young girl onto the catwalk for the song. The "Stand" video is playing in the background. Afterwards they play "Feels Like Today" and Gary leaves the stage and walks out into the crowd on the floor touching peoples hands! That was quite cool!!! They follow it up with "Backwards" and at the end Gary brings a young lady onto the stage to sing a couple of words of the song. They then follow it up with my favourite and my bros' favourite song which is "Bless The Broken Road". What an awesome song!!! Next they play shortened versions of "No Reins" and "Bob That Head". "No Reins" sounds great live and definitely should be the next single. They follow it up with their multi format smash hit "What Hurts The Most". The last song before the encore is "He Ain't The Leavin' Kind" and on the video screen they have pictures of the Ten Commandants being taken out of the courthouse and other pictures relating to the song. They then leave the stage on a platform that takes them down below while the crowd is giving them a massive standing ovation and shouting for more!!! They then come back on stage and play "Still Feels Good" but Gary isn't on the main stage. Somehow he got onto the small stage without anybody noticing (they bridge was up so they must have sneaked him around) . Jay and Joe Don are on the mainstage then they lowered the bridge and Gary walked onto the mainstage and Joe Don went out onto the small stage. Their final song is "Life Is A Highway" which is just an awesome way to wrap up the show!!! What an amazing concert!!! They just keep on bringing it everytime they play Vancouver!!! Sold Out show with at least 14,000 to 15,000 people!!! Walking back to meet up with my parents one of the crew members gives my bro a set list for the which is quite cool!!! They play for around 2 hours and Taylor played for around 30 minutes! Can't wait to see them again whenever they come back to Vancouver!!!
There my review is finished.
