I think Carrie might end up singing BHC, but IMO, she'll be doing a tribute leading up the the final song. She may be doing snippets of country classics along with Brad, alternating, and then working their way up to Ticks(Brad) and BHC(Carrie). Just a thought or more like wishful thinking.

All so Brad Paisley can sing about ticks. <snip> After Paisley's rehearsal, it was time for Carrie Underwood to run through a rocked-up, highly choreographed version of "Before He Cheats." In the broadcast audio truck, Nashville producer Mark Bright huddled with engineer Eric Johnson to produce an acceptable mix, while show director Miller sat in another truck and barked orders — he wanted to make sure the camera caught Underwood wagging her finger during a certain point in the song. Under 155 tons of technology — a typical arena-rock show uses 40-60 tons — Underwood sang, coughed through some throat discomfort and worked to emote and communicate even to an auditorium of empty seats. Once Underwood finished, producer Bright walked out into the sunshine. Asked how he thought everything looked and sounded, Bright smiled, paused and said, "I'm very happy. She's going to be great."

I would have preferred for her to perform songs from CR, since it's her current album, but BHC sounds fine to me !! no matter what she sings, i know she will work that stage. She never dissapoints :) Yup... as long as country is represented a little more genuinely this year... that's the main thing. Carrie & Rascal Flatts doing an Eagles song last year as the ONLY Country representation was a real slap in the face of Country music... Country artists doing their own Country songs is the way it should be. It wasn't the only country representation. Dixie Chicks also performed.

I noticed that she has not attended a single event or party yet-- whereas there are pictures of everyone else at every event and party. So I am wondering if she may be sick and skipping everything - but rehearsals and clive's party tonight, grammys, etc?I can understand if she is.Gotta save that voice and get rest. She did look tired at the airport, but so did chase- and so does everyone, after a long flight to LA. Hopefully it was not a big deal.
I like the idea of a highly choreographed, rocked out version of BHC. What she will do-- by that- is win over people that think she is stiff and are used to seeing her sing big ballads like JTTW or SS, etc.
Even though I personally am sick to death of BHC, and I know many of us are-- perhaps the mainstream audience will like it because: (a) they know the song and like it, from being on pop radio; (b) it is kick butt and fun, versus a JTTW type song; and (c) She will show them she is more then just a good singer if she rocks out to this.
It doesn't look like brad and carrie will do a duet from the tennessean's report, etc- showing only ticks and BHC-- but- perhaps they are rehearsing it later? there are rehearsals all weekend still. I am going to try to accept that Enews is wrong though- so I don't get my hopes up too much.

I can't say that I'm thrilled to hear that Carrie will sing BHC at the Grammy's, that song is ancient history now. Moreover, I'm worried that Carrie won't get a performance slot at next year's Grammy's to sing a song from CR. (I don't think many artists, if any, have gotten three years in a row of Grammy performance slots.) So, this BHC performance, seems like a throw-away to me. Needless to say, I hope she does a standout performance of BHC, but I can't see how it helps her career at this point. For her effort, I certainly hope that BHC wins her the Female Country Vocal Performance grammy, and also wins the Song of the Year grammy for the writers, that would at least justify the performance.

^ The only hope she has of performing next year is if she gets a major nod (i.e. Record or Album).
So, is E! the only source that has mentioned a duet with Brad? I thought someone mentioned Ryan Seacrest.

I noticed that she has not attended a single event or party yet-- whereas there are pictures of everyone else at every event and party. Eh? Perhaps you can point me in the direction of the many Grammy week pictures of Alicia Keys, Beyoncé and Kanye West, then. Last year, there was at least one event explicitly honoring the heritage of country music. Carrie attended that, so we got an extra set of pictures. Given that Carrie has never seemed one to grasp at the media spotlight, I don't know why it would be surprising that she wouldn't be mugging for the cameras at various events this week. By the way- Dudley--how do you multi-quote here? When I'm replying to multiple posts, I usually have two tabs/windows open to Pulse, or one window open to Pulse and either MS Word or Wordpad to draft my post. In one window, I go through each post that I would like to quote one by one, by hitting "quote" and then copying and pasting what appears in the quote box into my draft post (I also pare down the quote to the specific comment to which I am replying to cut down on space). So, both Ryan Seacrest and E! reported the Carrie/Brad duet? If so, I'd probably believe it. So far I have only seen the E! thing, though. Considering that Ryan works for E!, I don't think they're operating with independent sources of information. I really don't think that Brad and Carrie have enough stature to be invited to perform twice at the Grammys. The likeliest scenario is that someone at E! saw two country singers, saw that they were nominated for a duet and made a bad assumption. I am praying neil portnow did not do that to country-- as you know the .... is going to hit the fan if all the past history of country is ignored, while all the other genres get a tribute duet. Carrie performed a tribute to classic country last year. Between that and the Nashville execs' complaints that no country artist (save the Dixie Chicks) was given the opportunity to perform his/her own songs last year, Neil Portnow & co. are probably acceding to the wishes of Music Row execs. That Carrie is invited to perform at all is probably a partial make-up gesture for last year (it helps, of course, that BHC is nominated in the General field and that Carrie is the reigning BNA who did such a great job with her tribute performances last year). I think Rascal Flatts was fortunate to get a performance slot at all last year, considering that the band had one nomination, that nomination wasn't in the General field and there were very few who doubted that they would lose their category to the Dixie Chicks (not to mention the fact that the band doesn't have a great reputation for its awards show performances, its popularity notwithstanding). But it did seem kind of wrong that Grammy's Best New Artist of 2007 didn't get to sing her own song. So this year makes up for that. In any case, I think jenglisbe makes a good point that the country genre is still generally better represented than several mainstream genres. The reports from The Tennessean sound intriguing! I'm not at all surprised that Carrie is performing BHC and am looking forward to it, though I'll probably be missing the actual performance in real time.

I wish there was a country tribute and Reba and Carrie got to perform together. I'm not sure if Reba's ever performed on the Grammys. Despite her massive country career, she's only won 2 awards. In one year, Carrie had more grammy success than Reba has had in 30 years.
I hope that Carrie and Reba get to sing together at some point before Reba decides to finally hang it up.
I'm not too particularly thrilled to see BHC again. It would be cool if she got to mix it up with a classic country cheatin' song like Your Cheatin' Heart.

In one year, Carrie had more grammy success than Reba has had in 30 years. One of the things about awards shows is that they exist in separate years. You almost can't compare artists by their wins because some years are weaker than others and what not. It's hard to say Reba deserved more than 2 Grammys in that she probably had tough competition each year. Carrie had 2 huge, undeniable country songs in the span of a year, and she could end up with 3 Grammys from them. She certainly deserves those wins, even if it places her ahead of Reba (of course, each could end up with 3 total at the end of the night tomorrow).

For clarification, my post wasn't to suggest that one was more deserving over the other. I was just contrasting the Grammy success of two of my favorite artists who I would like to see perform together, one a legend and one a legend-in-the-making.

I am sooo stoked about a rocked out performance: will she be the rock chic vixen wearing a pair of tight-fitting denim, big heels, 80s rock hair ? Will she have a token guy on stage (the cheatin' boyfriend) that she will dismiss ? So many questions.... This is going to be a LOOOOOOOOONG 32 more hours, but there is no doubt that Carrie will deliver and be on FIYAH !!! For me, what adds to the excitement is the world getting to see 'our little secret' since the Grammys award show is such a global entity.

The performance tonight seems interesting. I hope it's a high production one. I would love to see something different.
Can't wait for GAC tonight also with the HGTA performance!

From OK Mag online........ Carrie Underwood, Rihanna, Fergie, Christina Aguilera, John Mayer, Taylor Swift and Keyshia Cole hope to add Grammys to their prize closets after Sunday’s ceremony. How will Carrie get ready? “Whenever there’s an event coming up, we hire a stylist to tell me what’s cute because I honestly don’t know,” the four-time nominee tells me. “I walk around in my pajamas most of the time. I’ve had people tell me ‘now Carrie, people are going to be wanting to look at you and they want to see you look glamorous.’ I’m like ‘that’s not me! I can’t do it.’ Anytime there’s anything important, we hire someone to come in and make me look cute.” (She already has two Grammys!)<Snip>

Hire a stylist? I thought she already had one??? Maybe we should reserve judgment on that point until we've seen this "daring" Grammy red carpet outfit of Carrie's, huh? In seriousness, I think you're right. The Tennessean article posted upthread mentions Trish Townsend, who seems to have been with Carrie for at least a couple of years now. It's OK!, so odds are Carrie was misquoted or the OK! person misunderstood her. According to this item from the Canadian Press, looks like Carrie will be seated in the 4th row at the Grammys tomorrow, near Dierks Bentley and Aretha Franklin. Nice! In the meantime, I'm really looking forward to caps of Carrie's HGTA at the Opry. Thanks in advance to vinman for that (and for that cute Carrie interview -- I think you're right about it being from rehearsals this year).

Thanks in advance to vinman for that (and for that cute Carrie interview -- I think you're right about it being from rehearsals this year). ooh--- 4th row sounds promising! They usually reserve that for people who win something right? or have to perform. What row was Carrie in last year? I know she was on the aisle-- but I can't recall how many rows back she was. She was behind prince, and behind Mary j blige for sure....so that is at least row 3, maybe father back. (I know I am reaching again- lol) Dudley thanx for the info on multi-quoting. I will attempt your method in the future. lol I have changed my perspective on the BHC performance thing-- because I think it is mostly us that are sick of seeing her perform it live. Mainstream fans, rappers, pop fans, and rock fans will prefer this by far, to a JTTW type song or SS. And international fans likely have never seen BHC live, and barely know who Carrie is. So this will be a good way for Carrie to get some exposure overseas with a song that international fans might actually take to--- since they are not huge country fans. They might think BHC is more pop-=== and take an interest in carrie, like shania. etc. I agree that for CArrie to be the 2nd performer is pretty great because the opening act is not going to be a current song. Carrie will sing the first nominated song of the night, first solo act of the night. very cool. With that said-- I am nervous about her red carpet floral dress as those snarky fashion police may be all over her. lol But-- she looked adorable in the orange floral dress at the 2007 cmt awards, so it may not be so bad. lol Dudely you are right that many people did not go to all the pre-parties etc...--- it was the usual lindsey lohan and paris hilton who are not even nominated- yet show up everywhere somehow, like they have a radar button for every party everywhere on earth. lol Daughtry and Taylor swift were at every event ----- but I can't say I blame them-- it is their first grammys and they must feel so excited they are going to everything...I would too--especially the free stuff. lol
