Your favorite station? This is the opposite of the other topic I started.

102.1 used to be techno and now it is country, I love country! You're one of the only ones (who like the station, not who like Country). KXDC dropped out of the ratings. Radio-locator still calls it dance.

Radio-Locator is so behind on updating stuff. They have a place to submit changes but it didn't seem to be made for the public to do. I have to put part of the blame on the radio stations also. If KXDC told them to change I don't think radio-locator would refuse. If they can't find out the format changes themselves then radio-locator should read the posts on radio-info.

Has a station changed its format to become my favorite station--or at least a station to which I'd listen frequently? Yes, that's happened at least four times in my life.
February, 1989 During a winter storm, WLIN (originally at 95.5) unexpectedly switched to top-40. Its call letters had been changed to WOHT and was nicknamed Hot 95.
August, 1996 Top-40 finally made a comeback to Jackson radio (it was missing for about 3.5 years)!!! WLIN (then at 101.7) traded soft AC for top-40, and its call letters eventually became WYOY. Its nickname was (and still is) Y101!
April, 1999 A second top-40 station was born (I hadn't expected that)!!! WKTF ditched young country (a failed format) for top-40 (CHR/Rhythmic at that time). Its call letters had become WDBT; its nickname, 95.5 The Beat.
Memorial Day (May 27), 2002 An '80s station was born! WYJS--once known as 105.9 The Maxx (until now)--had ditched the '50s-'60s-and-some '70s oldies for all-'80s (another failed format :().

They have a place to submit changes but it didn't seem to be made for the public to do. Really? I remember letting them know that WNND has switched from AC to 80s Hits some time last year and they changed it.

1998- easy listening KUMU gradually changed its format to AC Lite 94.7 ------------- In 2000, KKHN was a country station then flipped to KKBM (CHR/Rhythmic), later changed calls to KDDB 102.7 Da Bomb. ------------- 2002- Maui's KMVI-FM was a Classic Rock station changed calls to KJMD, format is now a CHR/Rhythmic Da Jam 98.3 Awesome station! ------------- 10/1/03- Hot AC leaning CHR/Pop KPVS 95.9 Hilo/KLUA 93.9 Kona "Kiss FM" changed format to CHR/Rhythmic as "The Beat". Great to hear their 93.9 signal at Koko Crater about nine miles away from where I live.

East Texas has a share of changes, too
KTYL-FM -- In 1999, they flipped from AC (a long-time format for 17 years+) to rhythmic oldies which only lasted well over a year and a half (Jammin' Oldies 93.1) and finally, a format they can really agree on -- hot AC (Mix 93.1)
KISX-FM -- In the late '88/early 89, they dropped CHR and moved the frequency far to the right and went oldies. After over a year, they flipped back to CHR (Kiss 107.3), then in '92, lightened up a bit as hot AC (Mix 107.3), and finally, relaunched back to CHR/Pop as Kiss FM
KZEY-FM -- 8 years as an urban format changed hands with new owners to relaunch the original calls back to KMHT-AM/FM and flipped it to country.
Shreveport/Bossier City
KWKH-FM -- 1996 flipped from country (they were dying really bad to KRMD and KITT) to CHR/Pop (first time in three years) and changed its identity to Big Dog 94.5 and then later same format, new identifier as K-94.5.
KTUX-FM -- Longtime CHR champ since they signed on in 1985 (as Fun Radio Tux 99) abandoned the format in 1993 and went rock as 99X.
Pine Bluff, AR
Only one AM station made the switch. KCLA-AM 1400. They were nostalgia for many years and in June 2003 flipped to gospel as The Light.
