On the contrary! Everyone was counting down the minutes until she blew up. She was already big on half the planet, too. Perhaps the extent of her success wasn't as clearly defined in everyone's mind, but "enough for a Best New Artist" nomination was just about a given.

Shouldn't you be in class? I wouldn't say the U.S. was necessarily counting down the minutes. "Just Dance" failed to take flight until z100 acknowledged its existence. It may or may not have happened with a future single, take the superior "Poker Face" for instance, but I wouldn't go as far as to say it was in the cards. After all, she's doing rhythmic pop without almost any urban inkling. And now that she's overcome that hurdle, the only thing that'll get in her way is herself.

Does anyone know if there are floor seats for the concert? The last Lady Gaga concert was in NYC and when I went to it there was no seating and it was AMAZING. It's too bad she's doing only big venues from now on...

I think there are no "seats". It's a circular stage, so my guess is Britney-style standing up floor. Although in a huge arena that's not nearly as exciting. :(

Doing rhythmic pop was by no means a gamble, though - at least not last Summer. A mainstream return was already alive, thanks to Rihanna and Blackout Britney amongst others. If anything, her timing helped her be one of the defining figures of the current sound rather than put her success at risk.

I didn't say it was? Her material was/is mostly to her advantage, but she triumphantly succeeded without nearing urban. As for BritBrit & RiRi, they were well-established [one moreso than the other] by the time they they began dispensing straightaway dance-pop. But yes, as you & I both concluded, she's in her prime now.

I was referring to your saying it wasn't in the cards partly because of her take on pop/the fact that she doesn't "near urban". And I didn't say Britney and Rihanna were risking their own careers, all I said was they brought back a dance sound to pop radio, which paved the way for GaGa. Whether they were established or not makes no difference.

I think it's too soon for her to be headlining her own tour. It was perfect for her to be co-headlining with someone who's already established. I thought it was weird though since they cater to two completely different audiences.
