I read that a while ago. The only thing that makes my say, Hmmm, is the use of an SM57 mike. Normally for instruments but it can be used for vocals.

Yeah, the article is old but I don't recall seeing it. Thought I'd post it just in case.

According to this article, healthy elders from 99 yr old and older know about Carrie Underwood. 10 Healthy Aging Tips From Centenarians Relationships, an Active Mind, Humor Make the List in Centenarian PollJuly 29, 2008 -- Staying close to family and friends, keeping your mind active, and having a sense of humor are keys to healthy aging, centenarians say in a new poll. The poll, conducted by phone, included 100 U.S. centenarians. Here are their top 10 tips for healthy aging -- along with the percentage of how many said the tip is "very important" (they could call more than one tip "very important"): Stay close to your family and friends: 90% Keep your mind active: 89% Laugh and have a sense of humor: 88% Stay in touch with your spirituality: 84% Continue looking forward to each new day: 83% Keep moving and exercising: 82% Maintain a sense of independence: 81% Eat right: 80% Keep up with news and current events: 63% Keep making new friends: 63% "If I could leave any message, never stop learning. Period," centenarian Maurice Eisman says in the poll report. "I think the worst thing is stress, and you can avoid a lot of it by the way you manage your life," adds 102-year-old Marianne Crowder of Palo Alto, Calif. Some of the centenarians -- who were actually as young as 99 -- have picked up some modern ways: 19% use cell phones, 12% have used the Internet, 3% say they've dated someone they met online, and 45% could identify 2005 American Idol winner Carrie Underwood. When asked to pick a favorite celebrity to invite to a "fantasy dinner party," Bill Cosby was their top pick, followed by Tiger Woods and Oprah Winfrey. Britney Spears and Howard Stern were their least favorite choices; most knew who Spears and Stern are. GfK Roper Public Affairs & Media polled the centenarians by phone in April and May for Evercare, a health care coordination program for the elderly and people with long-term or advanced illnesses or disabilities. Because the poll only included centenarians in good health, the results may not apply to everyone in that age range.

Speculative at this point but does this mean there may be a 2008 Carrie Xmas album?

Speculative at this point but does this mean there may be a 2008 Carrie Xmas album? Oooh, great find! I think a Christmas album is very possible. They're already 4 singles into CR and the junior album is likely planned for release around fall 2009 still. A Christmas album can provide that "quasi-album" for the interim period and will guarantee them strong sales during the peak holiday buying season. It does bring up the possibility that JAD may be the last single off CR, unless they release another track after the Christmas season. I would love a Christmas album from Carrie! I hope there are some original tunes and majority of the tracks are traditional songs, as she's mentioned she prefers. Although I may have preferred a live concert DVD... Also, if it is true, now we know what she's going to be doing during this long "concert-tour break." That's what. After all, she couldn't possibly be resting :o

YAY!!!
i agree with desi. i think it is very plausible, especially if the label is hesitant to release too many songs off CR. there will be a 'gap' between now and album #3. a Christmas album can tide the crazy fans over during the lull period.
it doesnt take as long to produce a Christmas album either... and as we all know, she never really takes a break...

Carrie and Christmas go hand in hand. She always seems to sing those songs with alot of passion. If Gosh Groban could sell millions of copies, I could see Carrie doing very well. She already has "Do You Hear What I Hear" recorded, just add some more. I'll buy it.

I hope they don't add Do You Hear What I Hear ![:-X](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/lipssealed.png) Or at least change the arrangement. I didn't like the DYHWIH they did last year with the drum machine and cheap-sounding production. If they wanted cheap, they should have gone acoustic. That would have been beautiful, no doubt in my mind. Instead, they made an attempt at production and just sounded... cheap. Very forgettable and likely the least-played Carrie album track on my iPod. Assuming the Christmas album is in the works (which I now think is really true), I wonder what approach they'll take with it. Will be with a full orchestra? Acoustic? Countrified? I wonder how Faith's doing hers because that will eliminate one possible approach. Is Toby Keith releasing a Christmas album as well?

I actually would like them to release more Carnival Ride singles....there are some GREAT songs on that album (FotF, IKYW) that REALLY need to be heard on the radio. Also, the christmas album will most likely not sell the entire year, just from whenever its released - February...I cant understand them giving up on Carnival Ride after one year

i wouldnt count on an acoustic album from carrie... since she hates listening to herself and in all likelihood, mark bright will have a hand in it
and, matt, having a Christmas album does not equate to giving up on CR. if they released half the album to radio i doubt that will make people want to go out and buy the album anyway...

Just a guess, but given that Faith Hill is releasing a full-fledged Christmas album with advance promotion and whatnot, I don't think Carrie is going to release a full-fledged Christmas album this year. I'm thinking that a 4- or 6-song Christmas EP that is exclusive to a retailer like Target or Walmart (or iTunes) is more likely. Target and NBC have that Sounds of the Seasons deal that involved a few artists releasing Christmas EPs last year...perhaps that is what Carrie is doing. Although if she is doing that, it doesn't seem like Carrie's schedule will allow for her to promote the Christmas EP at the Rock Center Tree Lighting special unless she tapes an appearance during the US Thanksgiving break.
And just to bring this back full circle, it's also because Carrie's tour schedule isn't going to allow for much, if any, TV promotion this fall outside of the CMA Awards that I don't think she will be releasing a full-length Christmas album. A Christmas EP (especially one that is a retailer exclusive), on the other hand, could help with retail placement for Carnival Ride during the holiday season, and maybe give a retailer reason to advertise CR alongside the EP in print and possibly TV ads.
If true, I certainly won't complain about more Christmas music from Carrie. I'm just hoping against hope that Carrie, Mark Bright & co. dial the production level back.

This Christmas album (if ever) has likely been planned since, at the latest, the start of this year. It's not just a coincidence that Carrie has this break from her concert tour which can be used for recording. So it's not like they're giving up on CR. It's possible too that one of the factors for the quick release of singles is this album plan-- the Christmas album being a cause, not an effect.
I would also like to hear more singles from CR too. (Well, not really "hear" since I'm in another country with no country stations and where single releases don't really matter since I just listen to my Carrie iPod anyway, but anyway...) Wishing out loud, I hope she re-records IKYW and then releases it, and to heck with whether it's radio-friendly or not. It's just so much a Carrie signature song for me that it has to be experienced by people, dammit!
ETA a response to dudley: An EP! Yes, I think I would much rather have that for this year, if ever. I hope you're right. If it's exclusive, I'll take a guess and say that it will be with WalMart this time, since she just performed at their stockholders' meeting. Deals and all that.
Btw, I saw in the country thread that George Strait is also releasing a Christmas album.
Is it really too much to hope for a live concert DVD? Carrie might be saving that project for down the road, but I can't help wanting one right now. I can't help what I feel *dramatic pause, erm, stop*.

Ahh a xmas album! It's definitely on my wish list of stuff I want Carrie to record, along with a country classics, '80's rock, acoustic...man the list goes on! You know, I seem to remember a radio interview awhile back with Carrie saying she might go back into the studio sometime later this year. (I think it was from early this year when she was doing a ton) Well it's later now so I really think a Christmas album is feasible. You never know, she could've already been recording stuff ! ![:d](http://images.proboards.com/cheesy.gif) She's a busy girl.... I'm going to have to agree with Desi on the whole not recording DYHWIH again. It was sung great but it was WAY too overproduced. Very cheap sounding. I hope that if she does do a Xmas album, that it's not all bells and whistles...how about just her voice and a piano? Squeeee!

Erin from the OFC posted today at the OFC and she supposedly spoke to Stormy Warren @ XM and he stated that the JAD vid was screened for big wigs today and that the vid should be out in about 10-14 days.

Although posted in blogs/sites all over the net today, Glaceau's site has the HQ commercial that is playing in movie theaters. It looks like August 7th is the date, it could be up earlier than that on CMT though...no word on how it will debut. A girl at cfans called Jrecords, Arista, and talked to both Ann Edulblute and Joe Galante....Joe said the video was being sent out this coming monday to CMT and GAC, so its really CMT and GAC's choice of when they want to debut it. Also the video is over 5 minutes and is Carrie's best work....said by Ann.
