Is it me, or does it seem like there is no challenge left in radio call-in contests? A local station here is doing a "cash song of the day" deal where they announce a song every morning and you win money if you're the right caller when they play it.
Here's the mind-boggling part. They tell you exactly what time the song will be played! What, then, is the purpose of the song? Why don't they just say, "Call us at 2:15 today and win cash??"
I remember when radio contests used to be fun, and present a bit of a challenge. But then again, I remember a lot of good things about radio that are no longer the case...

By giving out the time when these contests take place, it gives listeners no incentive to listen, especially if they don't listen on a regular basis.
