I think Aaliyah is overrated...she do got the better music...but performance wise no. It's somethin bout Ciara that Aaliyah didn't have. So yeah...CiCi. :)

Aaliyah by far. She had such a beautiful voice, though it didn't have as much range. She also had better material.

Aaliyah's material is better than Ciara's material, by far. She would take risks, and the "Aaliyah" album is perfect. However, I do think she's a bit overrated.
Ciara's a good performer, and her songs aren't bad, but I'd have to go with Aaliyah.

Aaliyah. She had a great voice. And the material she recorded was really good.

Aaliyah. Her music was just more progressive and interesting to me. Not to say that Ciara's isn't, but I just prefer Aaliyah's progression.

No contest at all. Aaliyah is definitely better for me, as I've never really liked Ciara.

Aaliyah already has the edge because she was out way before Ciara and made an impact while disassociating herself from her peers- she truly was an original. I do however think that Aaliyah was overrated in terms of her dancing. No doubt she could dance but it was more so the way Fatmia stylized her dancing where it was more of a fluidity of movements as oppose to out right tearing up the floor.
Ciara is good in her own right. She to me is the much better dancer/performer. Her style at times leaves a lot to be desired but I do think think that she like Aaliyah is establishing herself as her own person rather than falling in line to be constantly compared to her peers. The comparisons towards other well established acts is inevitable but Ciara seems determined to venture out on her own.
With that said I voted for Aaliyah because to me she has the better music and I do believe if she were still alive she would have continued making great tunes.

I can tolerate most of Ciara's stuff, but Aaliyah still wins this without question.

Aaliyah had this incredible musical style. It was very dark & brooding but also very chilled at same time. No doubt, Timbo & Missy refined with their contributions but it really was in Aaliyah's voice, where she was truly underrated. Monica could belt but this girl was the real deal. Her voice was way beyond her years. "One In A Million" & "Aaliyah" are also some of the best R&B albums I've ever heard. Period.
As for Ciara, she is a trooper. She works her ass off and it actually shows. She compensates for any of her setbacks, but at this point, I'm wondering if the setbacks are still there. This girl continues to refine herself and might I add appears to be one of the most humble stars on the face of the planet.
So by a small margin, Ciara.

I love both ladies and enjoy both of their music, but Aaliyah was always more of a leader/teacher while Ciara is more of an observer/student.

I don't know, for me this isn't a slam dunk for Aaliyah. I think I love just as many Ciara songs as I love Aaliyah's, and I think a lot of Ciara's songs can go head to head with Aaliyah, for different reasons.
While Aaliyah benefits from the work her squad was doing in pushing R&B sounds forward, she does have a more pleasant voice than Ciara.
But, Ciara, to her credit, has her own unique vocal ability, and can dance circles around Aaliyah. Like, I don't think Ciara gets enough flowers for her dancing.
Ciara's catalog is also much greater, so she has a lot more to offer, and I bump Ciara's music often because she's been on trend for most of her career.

Wut? Is this even a serious question? Aaliyah is the only correct answer here.
I will give Ciara the hard core choreography though. Besides Janet, she’s unmatched.
