She lipped when the rain was coming down. And I don't think its even that obvious. But before that I think it was all her. I don't think she lipped any of it; the last chorus, she came in too high on the "should've said no" part. There were also subtle differences I could hear that sure didn't sound like a lipped performance.

This is a bit late but I really do think the performance was lipped now if you watch the video at 2:37. I know all the videos are different lengths so watch this one. You notice the people running up behind her, and from what I think, they gave her a different mic because right after that it sounded perfect. Forgot to give this specific link of the performance at 2:37 youtube.com/watch?v=ArGFNYrazCUYou see the guys going behind her one giving her a mic, it seems, and one taking it away and then she sounded perfect for just a little bit before she went under the water and still sounded perfect.

The real question isn't whether she lipped the last seconds of the song but why she chose not to lip the whole thing.

i didn't even think of her lip synched the song until everyone said it here. now the only reason i think it might have been is that it was much better than all the other times i have heard her sing.

The only thing she lip synched was the rain part and that was because it would have been hard to do in the water.
She obviously sang the song LIVE earlier in the day or at another time and they used that audio to make it more realistic because she did NOT use the audio from the CD.
The beginning and everything else was purely live.

I can't believe this is the 5th single already!
Considering there's so much more songs on the album that could be singles.

If it was lipped it was lipped from 2:37 and on when the mic switch happened which means a little bit of the performance that wasn't under the water was as well.
I see this song doing really well, by the way.

The race to the top between Ms. Swift & Sugarland (currently two spins are separating them at Mediabase) should be fun to watch throughout the summer.

I knew someone would compare the ripping off her outfit to Britney Spears. For an 18 year old having a good time I thought she did great. Maybe because she ripped off two of Britney's most famous performances? The 2000 VMAs (ripping the suit off to reveal a sexier outfit) and "...Baby One More Time" on the DWAD Tour (the pouring water and the shadow in the "waterfall"). I watched the show with my parents and girlfriend, and immediately after Taylor's performance, they all commented on the Britney similarities. It wasn't just me. I like Taylor and everything, but in my opinion, she was definitely "inspired" by Britney.

I definately do see similiarities between Taylor and Britney in that performance but it doesn't bother me. It was still pretty cool, IMO.

Except for the fact that Ms. Swift is a far superior singer & songwriter who doesn't need production tricks to cover up her vocal shortcomings.

Just went back and re-watched her performance and it was pretty bad. Her voice is just not up there with the other ladies in the biz, I would actually rank her towards the bottom based upon vocals. With that said I do have to say that she is an exceptional songwriter.
The mic change and lip singing was very noticable, especially how her voice was so very shaky in the beginning and then it was just fine. Also, she played with her hair way too much, which is something I can't stand- even LeAnn does this to the point of bugging me to death! And I still don't see the point in the water, but it was great to see her have a great time.

I thought her voice was better in the beginning than at any point in the song, honestly.

i love taylor! i have to admit that she probably did lip sync, but that was necessary for safety, if not, she would have been electrocuted, so i don't have any problem with it. but she was singing great up to that point anyway, so what is the big deal?!

Stupid copied performance and all the acclaim bothers me. It hardly speaks country now does it?

Very good point. That would have been pretty dangerous. It was only for 30 seconds of the song.

Except for the fact that Ms. Swift is a far superior singer & songwriter who doesn't need production tricks to cover up her vocal shortcomings. Now, I am by no means a big Britney fan, but to me, Taylor is just on par with Britney as far as vocal talent go. If anything, Britney has more on-record charisma than Taylor's lifeless recording voice. Anyway, I don't like this song, it sounds like a combination of Daniel Powter's "Bad Day" and Avril Lavigne's "Complicated". Doesn't say much about her songwriting talent.

I love love love Taylor's music, I think she's a great songwriter. I don't think her voice is quite up to par with some of country's leading ladies of past and present, but she's definitely talented and makes great music. I don't necessarily think she should get all the attention she gets, but I try not to take that out on her. I just hate the unfairness of radio and the industry.

^she does deserve "all the attention she gets"? i know you guys like to think she is this big leech that hangs over everything and gets all the attention and awards, but she is just beginning to get noticed. i love her and her music, but she only recently started getting all of this mega attention, after our song went #1, and she began to win all the newcomers awards...she's had her album out for 2 years, and now her hard work is beginning to pay off...its not like she was an overnight success... the unfairness of the radio is when someone like carrie gets a #1 song just because her name is on it...i mean honestly, All-American Girl wasn't THAT good...

Actually Our Song went number one because it was VERY lucky! It got there near christmas and stayed there for 6 weeks because of the messed up christmas country chart! All-American Girl didn't go to number one because it had Carrie's name on it!!!!! It is a great song! Now KENNY CHESNEY always goes to number one because of his name (Except for Shiftwork because that really stunk) Actually this is another mediocre song by Taylor! Worst vocal yet!
