I don't know about you guys but I love a good bagel. Whoever doesn't like bagels should be checked for insanity.

Well I don't know anything about "ewe music", but I love Vampire Weekend. No, I guess I don't have a "good" reason to enjoy their music - I just really like their sound and their lyrics. And I'm very happy with this single choice.
Also, I don't understand how when somebody doesn't like a band, they assume it's because they're too different or inaccessible. But it could be the opposite - that people feel like it's nothing they haven't heard before. I mean, let's face it, VW aren't exactly reinventing the wheel here.

Because everyone wants to believe the bands they love are special and unique, like a snowflake. I have no such illusions about the bands I like, I know most of them are derivative and trite, with an extra helping of cliche and pop scribe.

When you like a band or a song, you dont need anyone else to like it to further your enjoyment. That's why arguing about anything to do with music always ends up completely fruitless. But it doesnt take away from expressing a persons opinion, whether positive or negative.

Yeah, well, it still doesnt go for adds for two weeks. However this may be an indication that Vampire Weekend being a "buzz band" will get the snub from radio, which may tell us that they dont find them as great or interesting as early word lead us to believe. Honestly, to me they sound at best like an underground college band. Not really destined for the big time.

I'll be excited if it goes Top 60, which I think is something like 100 spins. Basically, if you can get maybe 3 stations to power rotate your single and 2 others to give a few night spins, you're set. Smash.

The only thing I can come up with is that he means that "Oxford Comma" makes him like Vampire Weekend so much more than "A-Punk" did at first.
If that's not it, then I got nothin'.

This whole thread has become fascinatingly disorienting to read. The band themselves would probably enjoy the whole "meta" aspect of the direction it has taken. Anyway, the band is playing a free show on June 14th in Central Park. Interesting lineup: www.summerstage.org/index1.aspx?BD=20516

Oh, pronoun mishap. It's cool. In fact it is AWESOME and RELEVANT considering that this a thread pertaining to a song penned about grammatical conjuctions. It's like a 6th grade English lesson all over again. In addition, I have to say I enjoy oxford commas and it disappoints me to know that Vampire Weekend does not.

Um...raise your hand if you were part of that s***show that was the Vampire Weekend concert in Central Park's Summerstage on Saturday? I came all the way from Boston JUST for that show (since they managed to sell out Brown's Spring Weekend before I could get tix). I have NEVER seen that much rain in my LIFE (even in India during Monsoon Season) but boy, what an experience...

Nope. I missed it, because I was hungover from my birthday party. But pretty much all my NYC friends went & described being soaked to death. So I'm not sorry I wasn't in attendance, tbh.
