They just played more of the song on her cheerleading competition thing on MTV -- one of the teams did a 1 minute routine to it or something. The chorus sounded great from what i could make out.

I really like Paula Abdul - she's got a unique voice and she really got some sleek moves (in her heydays). I am sorry that her recent 'Dance Like There's No Tomorrow' did not get the notice it deserves - its a good piece of music.
As for those who said that she could not sing - do listen to her live singing of 'Rush Rush' (which is my favourite song from her). She is pretty good here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mObUOqWEPuo&feature=related
Really hope that she could come up with a new album soon which is true to her heart and unique talents. Go Paula Go -Love ya

I don't think Paula was a bad singer in her hey-day, but she wasn't anything incredibly impressive vocally either. However, after years of not singing, her voice has gotten to the point where I'd say she sounds pretty awful now and that's saying a lot because her voice is vocoded to hell and back on both of the new songs. Both songs have awful production too.
Not that I think Paula's catalog is anything classic although her late 80's and early 90's hits are really fun, but I really wish she didn't go back into the recording studio now because she's making even more of a joke out of herself. I remember when I heard she was going to be a judge on American Idol back in early 2002. No one knew how successful that show would be, but it was nice to see Paula get her foot back in the door, and for a few years, she really had a major revival in popularity. She's totally killed that off in the past four years or so though between how she's been acting on the show and now these new songs. If she was even going to attempt a return to music, she should have done it in 2003 or 2004 when her image was better and she might have been able to land some decent dance-pop producers.

On this new song her vocals sound no more autotuned than other artists out there. I love the unique sound of her vocals, much now I like Britney Spears'.
As for her catalog, "Straight Up" will always be a classic.

So now I finally got the courage just to ask you baby oooh ...will you, will you, will you marry me, boy?
All this Paula talk... ahhh, I can't take it! I can honestly say that I have loved every single she's released (well, except for Knocked Out). I hope she can have a small amount of musical success again, but I feel if Dance couldn't do much, nothing else will.
Maybe she should just repackage yet ANOTHER greatest hits album and add 3-4 new songs so that she has to promote the album and it sells decently well.

She was talking about doing something like that... except she said they were going to re-record some of her old hits with new producers (she mentioned Will I Am doing one for her).

I always thought 'Spellbound' should have been a single instead of say Vibeology.

True story:
I just got back from Costa Rica and I was living in a town called Escazú. Well, there was some hole-in-the-wall karaoke bar that had about 50 songs in English, and one of them was Vibeology. It made me smile to think that of any Paula Abdul song that I would expect to see on a karaoke list in a foreign country, Vibeology might've been last!

Is she still releasing a new CD with updated versions of her hits? I really want her to release that!
And I agree with the person that mentioned that she should have attempted a comeback back in 2003-2004. Such a missed opportunity. Although since she'll probably never be able to dance even half as well as she used to (due to physical problems) she probably always knew she never really could have a real comeback. It's kinda sad actually.

Who cares if she will have a vocoded voice on most of her new album, I'm sure she'll get in semi-ok vocal shape with exercises for a ballad or two.

As for her catalog, "Straight Up" will always be a classic. That 'unique sound' is a lack of vocal ability...they have to make up for it with 'attitude.' Its not sound, its delivery...They're 'sound' and 'tone' is all from a synthesizer and vocoder.

No, I completely disagree. You know if you are hearing Paula Abdul's voice, it is very distinctive-- even her speaking voice. Hot. Britney Spears also has a very unique quality to her actual, raw singing voice. Love it. I just like unique voices.

1,000,000's of people can sound like that...Britney uses inflections SO much in her 'singing' that she barely even sings a complete word...They're voices are tooled to death, especially Britney's...tons of people could have their slight/thin voices pro-tooled and sound just like them...but they're not great performers/dancers so they;re not...

Again, I disagree. No one else sounds like Paula Abdul (or Britney). People try to sound like Britney (Jessica Simpson) but it never works. I love the way their raw vocals sound. They have such a unique tone. Their vocal personalities are incredible in my book. You may not like them (that's fine) but I do :)

Does anyone else here like "Head Over Heels"? I think it's one of the most overlooked albums ever.
"Crazy Cool" and "My Love Is For Real" were great singles and I really think "If I Were Your Girl" is one of her best songs.

I really dig the Head Over Heels album. That Crazy Cool video was hot and cool :)
If I Were Your Girl was going to be single #4 but Aint Never Gonna Give You Up did a big flop.
Crazy Love is also an excellent bonus track from the album.

Oh so it is Kylie's? At least we'll hear the non-remixed version somehow.

New single"Judge Paula Abdul has certainly been spreading her wings beyond her day job this season. A couple weeks back the American Idol jurist reminded audiences of her dance background staging an the acclaimed coreography to Disco Week's group number. Today she announced a return to recording, with the impending release of a new single and album. According to her press release: "Multi-platinum recording artist and American Idol judge Paula Abdul will release a new single "Here For The Music," available in May. The single reunites Paula with producer Oliver Lieber who helmed the chart topping album Forever Your Girl. "I'm Just Here For The Music" was co-written by Danielle Brisebois and Wayne Rodrigues and is the first track from Paula's upcoming album due out in Fall 2009 on Filament Entertainment Group. The single will be available via paulaabdul.com in the next few weeks.Paula’s extraordinary music career is exemplified by worldwide album sales exceeding 53 million records, two multi-platinum albums, six #1 singles, two Grammy Awards, five MTV Awards, four American Music Awards, two Emmy Awards, two People’s Choice Awards, a Teen Choice Award and two Kid’s Choice Awards. Paula has also been honored with a star on Hollywood Boulevard and was inducted into Nickelodeon’s Kid’s Choice Hall of Fame." Two Kylie leftovers? Paula Abdul knows how to choose good unused songs, I like it. It's crafty and it's not wasteful and ingratiating - like everyone else! Major props!
Anyone have the full "Boombox"?

She sounds better on this than the other two songs, but it sounds like a demo recorded in the 80's.

Paula also has hinted she will be performing it on Wednesday's Idol results show. She confirmed this on Ryan Seacrest. They should put this up on iTunes because that's her only shot at charting.
