I saw the medley on Dancing with the Stars. It was nice to see her again.
I really wish she would release an album similar in sound to the song she had on Idol--"Dance Like There's No Tomorrow," I think. I remember loving that (for what it was), strangely enough.

I think she re-sang her latest medley (obviously in studio, not on live tv). She sounds pretty good still. I'd like a new album from her. She could do decently with the nostalgic crowd if she makes similar, fun, upbeat music.
Anyone else have the Dream Medley? I like it a lot, actually.

I bought it from iTunes. Love that they incorporated a tiny bit of J.Cole in the Straight Up bit.

Dancing with the Stars usually features music's hottest hit performers on its results show, but on Tuesday night, the ABC reality show turned its spotlight on a friend: Paula Abdul. The former American Idol judge, choreographer and Grammy-winning singer performed "Dream Medley," which features re-recorded versions of several of her biggest hits, including "Straight Up," "Opposites Attract" and "Cold Hearted." The "Dream Medley" single is now at iTunes. Paula tells ABC News Radio she appreciated the opportunity to showcase her music and dancing skills on Dancing with the Stars, explaining, "Having a show like Dancing with the Stars allows you...it doesn't have to be where you're on the radio presently. It's about celebrating people who have earned their place in the music industry and they're celebrating the fact that I made my mark in history as a choreographer too." Noting that "the marriage of music and dance has been such a part of my life and it always will be," Paula now says that more singing and dancing are in the works for her. "I'm in the process of making more music," she tells ABC News Radio. "But...for me, I wanna do it in ways that allow me to have great creative outlet and platforms. So that's why you'll see me performing a lot."
Paula also says that her performance on Dancing with the Stars was just a taste of a larger show she hopes to stage in the future.

OK.... so first let me say i have been a HUGE paula fan since 1988. HUGE. but i have been waiting for a new album since 1997. the most annoying thing about it is since 1997 through today (2012) there have been many instances of Paula saying there is a new album coming out... or saying she is working on an album... or she is planning to maybe go on tour. and then nothing ever happens. if she really has been working on new music between 1997 and NOW she should have DOZENS of songs. she isnt going to be signed to a major label. SO she should release her music indepently or through an independent label. Its so frustrating bc she waiting too long to release music. She should have released stuff during the first few years of idol, not waiting until year 7. I am Paula does eventually put out an entire new album but as a fan who has been let down SO many times in the last 15 years, i will not hold my breath. Also the medley on DWTS. I loved it. but she performed basically the exact same medley at DIVAS live a couple years back and a few months back at the White Party thing in Russia. IF you are going to perform your old songs cant she at least mix it up? why not do "its just the way that you love me? or "rush rush" or "promise of a new day"? why is it always the SAME medley? COME ON paula! your fans have been waiting on new music for 15 years. stop giving us false hopes and constant let downs!

I love her!! and I love her singles and music videos!... I was born in 1991 so I didn't have the chance to live during her superstardom as a singer... but I'm a fan of her and her albums!!... Vibeology for life!! LOL

I bought Paula's 2007 greatest hits album for $5 from Amazon last week as a CD and it arrived a couple of days ago. This is the edition with most of the single versions and 7" mixes, some of which were not easy to obtain on CD all in one place. This one also uses an edit of the album version of "My Love Is For Real" instead of the R&B remix that was used on the previous hits album. The sound quality and mastering was really good too. www.amazon.com/Greatest-Hits-Straight-Paula-Abdul/dp/B000O1711Q/ref=sr_1_2?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1355954011&sr=1-2&keywords=paula+abdul+hitsI think she re-sang her latest medley (obviously in studio, not on live tv). She sounds pretty good still. I'd like a new album from her. She could do decently with the nostalgic crowd if she makes similar, fun, upbeat music. Anyone else have the Dream Medley? I like it a lot, actually. She could do an album of new material styled as a musical hybrid of her older sound and current sounds. German 80's Dance/Pop singer Sandra (of "Maria Magdalena" fame) released an album in that style recently as her fans really wanted something in that old style. Even though major chart success might not be there, there are enough fans who might support such a release. If she had a bunch of unreleased new songs that haven't been heard, putting out a collection of those could be done. And even some stuff from the older album eras.

Still milking those 6 numbers 1's. :) Her "Dream Medley" came out on iTunes yesterday. Up to #137 on pop iTunes. She "performed" it on Dancing with the Stars. It was actually pretty cool. She should really do a Vegas show.

im the biggest paula fan, but she doesnt have the ability to sell out vegas shows like Celine, Cher, Shania, etc do. just wont happen. Paula needs to hit the road this summer and headline a BUNCH of gay prides! her gay fans are probably her most devoted and what not. she should definatly do that! she has to get asked every year to perform at differnt gay prides, she has to!

Vegas has smaller venues. Cher, Celine and Shania are doing the mega venues in Vegas. Paula could easily sell out a smaller theater.

^^Right. Paula could easily do the Flamingo, Palms, Rio or something. Paula is too big for gay pride parades.

^In what manner? She hasn't recorded an album of new material in 17 years, and the couple of singles she put out didn't burn up the charts. Not saying she should do gay-pride festivals, but I don't know if she's "too big" for them. Granted, she was well-known for eight years because of American Idol.

^^Right. Paula could easily do the Flamingo, Palms, Rio or something. Paula is too big for gay pride parades. Maybe. But it would be quite the draw. In the past, Madonna (the surprise club gig at the Roxy in 1998 before Ray Of Light came out), Mariah Carey (a couple of international pride events where she did her dance mixes of some songs), Jennifer Hudson (at the Hammerstein Ballroom in 2006 when Dreamgirls came out), Cyndi Lauper (at Twilo in NYC in 2001 and other clubs and pride events before and after), Whitney Houston (the Pier Dance in NY in 1999), Lady Gaga, Mary J. Blige (both at White Party circuit events), and others have performed at such clubs, pride, or special private events at the height of their popularity so anything is possible. Either Paula hasn't been asked to do such events or chosen not to. Look at how much Christina, Mariah, and Beyonce have earned doing private concerts around the world, and they are still pretty big right now.

If she hadnt done anything in 17 years that would be one thing but she was getting paid millions on the biggest show on tv. I think she can do better than gay pride festivals.

Cool post from billboard! Paula Abdul's 10 Best Songs: Critic's Picks. Great list! www.billboard.com/articles/news/dance/8005636/paula-abdul-songs-best-hits-list10. Paula Abdul - "Ain’t Never Gonna Give You Up" You might be scratching your head at the inclusion of this 1995 single on this list of the most memorable Paula Abdul songs. After all, the record was the first single release from the singer not to enter the Hot 100, but this isn’t titled Paula Abdul’s Biggest Hits. This track from her Head Over Heels disc had a groove to remember, thanks to her exuberant charm and the luscious harmonies of Color Me Badd, who guested on the song. 9. Paula Abdul - "The Promise of A New Day" Despite the sunny title and upbeat outlook that Abdul exuded in this song, this hit became the final of six chart-toppers from Abdul on the Hot 100, where it peaked in September of that year. The uptempo number came from her Spellbound disc. 8. Paula Abdul - "Alright Tonight" The best of Abdul’s non-singles, this song also represented one of her biggest stretches musically. The energetic track -- one of the top tracks from 1991’s Spellbound -- was written by critically acclaimed singer-songwriter John Hiatt. 7. Paula Abdul - "Forever Your Girl" Thanks to the success of “Straight Up,” the songstress was on a roll -- one that continued full steam ahead into 1989. In the song, she pledged her undying love and affection to her guy, regardless of what rumors he might be hearing around town. The memorable video for this song poked a little good-natured fun at Robert Palmer’s videos of the day, with three little girls dressed up as Palmer’s guitarists did in clips for “Addicted To Love” and “Simply Irresistible.” 6. Paula Abdul - "My Love Is For Real" Abdul had taken a few years off from the spotlight while battling bulimia. Though the public’s musical tastes had changed in the four years since she had released new music, the singer was able to make a minor dent in the Hot 100 one last time with this 1995 single, peaking at No. 28. The video for this Paula Abdul song, the set’s first single, was as innovative from a dance element as any of her earlier clips, and the track -- though not on par with her early commercial successes -- showed a more sensual side of the singer, one that radio missed out on. 5. Paula Abdul - "Opposites Attract" The sixth and final off Forever Your Girl was very memorable for its cute video clip, which introduced the world to MC Skat Cat, a cartoon character that was inspired -- of sorts -- by the Gene Kelly film Anchors Aweigh, where the dancer performed with Jerry from the Tom and Jerry cartoon series. Still using her choreographic skills, the singer actually matched the character’s moves to her own -- making for a video popular with fans of all ages! 4. Paula Abdul - "The Way That You Love Me" By 1989, videos were just as important in the world of pop music as the songs themselves, and the clip for this single from Forever Your Girl featured another side of Abdul’s extensive dance moves, allowing the performer to dazzle with her tap dancing. The track was originally released in August 1988, but failed to make a significant impact, hitting No. 88. However, with the success of three straight No. 1 singles, Virgin decided to roll the dice again on the song, and were it not for Milli Vanilli’s “Blame It On The Rain,” the song would have went the distance. 3. Paula Abdul - "Rush, Rush" For the first single from Spellbound in the spring of 1991, there was a little bit of a shift in the singer’s musical direction. This dreamy track represented her first pure ballad ever sent to radio, and we would be willing to bet the farm that the song served as the soundtrack for many special moments between couples that summer. All in all, this Paula Abdul song spent five weeks atop the Hot 100, and spawned a video that was inspired by Rebel Without a Cause, with the singer and Keanu Reeves stepping into the roles of Judy and Jim. 2. Paula Abdul - "Straight Up" After two singles failed to yield a hit at radio, Paula Abdul was still looking for a hit. With this song -- released to radio in February 1989 -- she did just that. The single parked at the pinnacle of the charts, and the tune’s video clip netted her four MTV Video Music Awards that fall. 1. Paula Abdul - "Cold Hearted" The third Paula Abdul song to top the Hot 100, this rollicking number about a man set to get his eventual comeuppance flowed with a groove that had fans singing along, and the video no doubt stayed in the imaginations of fans throughout the world featuring Abdul in fishnet stockings and her dance troupe performing moves that were directed by David Fincher and were very much inspired by Bob Fosse’s work in All That Jazz.

^ I'd switch up the order, but a pretty good list! I'd have swapped out Alright Tonight and Ain't Never Gonna Give You Up for Blowing Kisses and Vibeology.
Meanwhile I'm also realizing Forever Your Girl has to be one of my favorite albums of all-time, lol.

I agree that Vibeology should have been included! But the list is a really solid top ten list!
Great too see the critics had the nerve to put Cold Heatered at #1 over Straight Up. I think Cold Hearted is the better song also.

I saw that top 10 on Billboard a while ago. It is a bit surprising with some songs, but top 3 is right I guess
Here is my top Paula Abdul 10
1. Rush rush 2. Cold Hearted 3. Blowing kisses in the wind 4. Knocked out 5. Straight up 6. My foolish heart 7. Vibeology 8. The way that U love me 9. U 10. Opposites attract
which means no songs from Head over heels
That album is ok and my fav song is probably Under the influence along with My love is for real

IJHFTM has also always been a favorite of mine; it's always seemed to be a song that lurked in the shadows and never got enough praise! Hats off to a true fan like you!
