Hey guys, thanks again to everyone who has given me picks but reminder: THIS IS THE LAST DAY TO PM ME YOUR PICKS FOR THE TOP 24. A single vote will change the current line-up so give your favorites a push! I'll post the top 24 tomorrow and hopefully, I'll get the semifinals going so check the thread tomorrow for instructions/postings.

i have a Q. How will this be played? Like regular survivor? Will we vote to keep someone in and then the lowest would get voted out?
I would like the second one. If we PM you with our 5-10 votes for the people we want to vote for (you choose the number) and then you reveal to us the results. It would be more surprising that way and then no one would really know where everyone stood in the competition. That would be more fun (IMO).

J - thanks for the response
zaclord - For the semifinals, I would post the performance given by the specific Idol contestent during that given week (for weeks 2 and 3 of seasons 1-3 contestents, I'll post other performances they gave on Idol or songs they recorded post Idol etc). I'll then ask all participants to PM me (to keep everything suspenseful) their 3 least-favorite contestents/performances (#1 least favorite would get -3 points, 2nd least favorite would get -2 points and 3rd least favorite would get -1 points) as well as your favorite 2 contestents/performances (+2 for #1 and +1 for #2). The 2 girls and 2 guys with the least points (most negative points) will be eliminated for the 3 weeks (I don't know if we'll wait full weeks in between each phase) of the competition. The finals will have a different method.
Does this sound good? Comments and questions are welcomed! I'm really excited to get this going!

For any contestent that outdoes themselves here, I'll use other Idol performances, post-Idol recordings/performances etc.
For the top 12, I was thinking of allowing every participant 100 votes and he/she can distribute those 100 votes among the remaining contestents however he/she would like.
P.S. You cannot submit any votes to me until I have announced the previous elimination and posted links to performances for that phase/week.

Ok...the votes are counted and the final 24 is final! I'll post most of the results in the morning but here is some of what happened...
Out of 82 American Idol finalists, 63 contestents recieved votes from you guys! The 19 that went empty handed (in alphabetical order) were...
Amy Adams Kevin Covais EJ Day Julia DeMato AJ Gil Mikalah Gordon Charles Grigsby Leah LaBelle Sanjaya Malakar Ramiele Maluby Nikki McKibbin Vanessa Olivarez Amanda Overmyer Matt Rogers Scott Savol Chris Sligh Ricky Smith Ryan Starr Lisa Tucker

NONE of the contestents were among EVERY participant's top 24. In other words, all 82 contestents were left out of AT LEAST 1 top 24 list. 2 contestents only missed 1 list, while 3 others missed 2.
Of the 63 that got votes, 30 were guys and 33 were girls.
8 of the top 24 are African/American.
Not all winners made it into the top 24, nor did all runner-ups.
All 7 seasons of American Idol are represented in the top 12 girls, while only 5 seasons are represented in the top 12 guys.

Ok so here we go...Guys up 1st...
In Season 1 of American Idol, 5 guys participated in the American Idol finals. Justin Guarinin, RJ Helton, AJ Gil, Jim Verraros and EJ Day. Of these 5, AJ & EJ recieved 0 votes and are therefore not moving on to the top 24. Justin Guarinin, RJ Helton and Jim Verraros are not either.
Now for the men of Season 7. Season 7 is the only season that had all 6 male finalists recieve at least 1 vote. Of the top 6 guys this past year, 4 of them will participate in our American Idol All-Star Challenge. Those 4 are David Cook, David Archuleta, Jason Castro and Michael Johns. David Hernandez and Chikezie did not make it, although David Hernandez was only 1 vote shy.
In Season 4, although Carrie and Vonzell outnumbered Bo in the final 3, it was surely the guys' year - it was a 6-3 final 9 in favor of the men. Of the 6 men, Scott Savol is Pulse's #6, as he did not get even 1 vote. Despite a near-legendary performance of Bohemian Rhapsody, Constantine also does not make our all-star list. In fact, despite showing clear domination in Season 4, only 1 male contestent has been voted into our top 24: Bo Bice. The current R&B flow of Nikko Smith, the technical proficiency of Anwar Robinson and the smooth pop stylings of Anthony Federov fell short.
Season 3 had quite the oppisate feel to Season 4. The top 12 was an 8/4 raito in favor of the girl (probably prompting the now girl/guy divided semifinals). The final 4 was all-women, probably never to happen again. Matt Rogers has already been disqualified by recieving 0 votes. Also not moving forward is one of the more infamous Idol contestents, John Stevens. Jon Peter Lewis (8th place) did not recieve enough votes either. George Huff performed best for the guys during season 3, not even going to the bottom 3 until final 6 week and getting eliminated one week later. Despite his promosing performance on Idol, he will not join the all-star top 24.
Season 2 featured 6 men; 4 leaned towards r&b, 1 pop and we saw our 1st real promising country star. It was the season of the most epic showdown in Idol history: Ruben v. Clay. Luckily, we might be able to see another glimpse of this competition as both contestents move in to the top 24. Charles Grigsby and Ricky Smith apparently are too forgettable because neither contestent got a vote. That leaves the infamous Corey Clarke and military man Josh Gracin and 1 spot in the top 12 guys. Getting farther on Idol and having a successful country career helped Josh because he joins Ruben & Clay in the top 24!
If you haven't been counting, 8 men have made it in, leaving 4 spots open between the 12 contestents of seasons 5 & 6. Out of those 12, Chris Sligh, Sanjaya Malakar (thank the lord) and Kevin Covais (thank the lord more) did not recieve any votes. Before any more cuts though, I will gladly say promote Chris Daughtry, Blake Lewis & Elliott Yamin to our top 24! That means, out of the 6 un-mentioned men (Taylor, Ace, Bucky, Chris R, Phil & Brandon), only 1 gets in...and it's not Brandon Rogers. Though through the 2 seasons, he is possibly the most forgettable contestent, he suprisingly outvoted Ace Young and Bucky Covington. That leaves Phil, Taylor & Chris R. Having already advanced Josh Gracin, Pulse apparently is content with having just 1 male country star because Phil Stacey does not make it. In a fierce battle between Taylor Hicks and Chris Richardson, moving on to the top 24 is...Chris Richardson! That makes Taylor Hicks officially 7th out of 7 on the Idol winners list.
Official top 12 guys Clay Aiken David Archuleta Bo Bice Jason Castro David Cook Chris Daughtry Josh Gracin Michael Johns Blake Lewis Chris Richardson Ruben Studdard Elliott Yamin
I'm gonna go have breakfast but the girls are coming soon...

Now for the girls...
Of the 42 female finalists, only 33 receieved votes.
As aforementioned, most of Season 4 was about the guys as the first 3 eliminations of the finals were girls (Lindsey, Mikalah and Jessica). Those 3 women all missed the cut. Carrie Underwood, the winner of season 4 and arguably the most successful Idol, does advance to the top 24. Though she positioned herself as an early front-runner, a momentum halting Time After Time lead Nadia Turner out of the competition in 8th and with not enough of a catalogue, misses the top 24. The sleeper-hit of season 4, Vonzell, is in the top 12 girls.
American Idol owes the world to the original season's winner, Kelly Clarkson. Without her performanes on Idol and post-show success, the path may not have been laid for the show to become the monster it is today or for the various chart-toppers since Kelly. She is in the top 24. Ryan Starr & Nikki McKibbin (one of the most infamous bottom 3ers) do not get any votes. Led by their performances of Ain't No Sunshine & A House Is Not A Home, Christina Christian and Tamyra Gray are left to compete for 1 spot in the top 24. Tamyra gets it and hopes to get revenge after one of the most shocking Idol exits ever.
Season 2 has already allowed Josh, Clay & Ruben into the all-star competition but it was tougher season for the girls as 3 of the top 4 were men. The woman that made the top 3, Kimberly Locke also makes it into the top 24. Sadly, Vanessa, Julia, Kim C, Carmen and Trenyce all miss out.
For women, entering the finals of Season 5 seemed to be all about Katherine, Paris, Kellie & Mandisa. Pulse however, ranked Melissa McGhee above Mandisa (neither makes it), while Lisa Tucker got no votes. The season's most successful woman, Katherine McPhee does make it into the competition, as does her good friend Kellie Pickler. Paris Bennett, having given some very popular performances (Midnight Train To Georgia, All I Do, Fever, These Foolish Things), does not make the cut.
After just one week of semifinals in season 6, it seemed like we could potentially end up with an all-female top 5 or top 6. Early frontrunners Sabrina Sloan & Stephanie Edwards (doesnt make it) seemed unstoppable, though they exited early. Gina continued gaining momentum though I'll Stand By You until being eliminated 1 week later (doesn't make it). Though being one of the weaker vocalists, Haley Scarnato survived 5 weeks of the finals, probably due to her obvious sexual appeal (doesnt make it). That leaves the 3 shining stars of Season 6's women: Jordin Sparks, Melinda Doolittle and Lakisha Jones. Of these women, only Lakisha doesn't make it.
Another season that revolved around the women was season 3, featuring 8 girls in the top 12 and controlling the entire top 4. Of the 8 female finalists, Fantasia, Diana, Latoya & J-Hud seemed to be the frontrunners due to performances of Summertime, Don't Cry Out Loud, All By Myself & Circle of Life, respectively. In the finale, Fantasia matched up against Diana to be victorious...just like in this competition (Fantasia makes it, Diana doesnt). The other 2 divas found themselves in the bottom 3 together - that night Latoya found safety while J-Hud was cut...not this time (Jennifer makes it, Latoya is cut).
The most recent season of AI was generous for the guys - Pulse put through 4 of the 6 guys in the finals. Only 1 spot is left to divide between Syesha, Brooke, Carly, Kristy, Ramiele & Amanda. Ramiele & Amanda both got no votes. Despite Kristy's great effort during Season 7, she also is cut. Now, we have the power vocals of Carly, the rangy Syesha and the official folk woman of Idol, Brooke. In the end, the final girl in our top 24 is...Brooke White!

Ok here are OFFICIAL voting instructions. Later today, I will post performance videos of the top 24. After watching, PM me your 3 least favorite and have them ranked. Your #1 least favorite will get -3 points, your #2 least favorite will get -2 points and your #3 least favorite will get -1 point. Also vote for your 2 favorites (#1 favorite gets +2 points, #2 favorite gets +1 point). Do this seperately for guys and girls. The 2 guys and 2 girls with the least points (most negative points) will be cut. You CANNOT SUBMIT VOTES to be before I post performance clips. You also must not post your votes in this thread, only PM them to me. You all are welcome to discuss the performances/predictions like we do during Idol seasons but try not to give away your picks because it's a pretty small voting audience so I'd like to keep suspense at a high!
Questions? Comments? Concerns?
I just got most of the clips and watched them - it's gonna be WAY HARDER voting these guys off than it was voting Garrett, Colton, Amy & Joanne!
