Votes are in and Pulse's top 12 is secured (small amount of votes...trust me, anyone who can vote should). We now have our final 6 guys and 6 girls - our All-Star Finalists! Up first, Tamyra Gray...she sang "I Will Always Love You"...Pulse voted and she is in the top 12! Kelly Clarkson sang "Because of You" at the Grammys before winning Best Pop Female Vocal Performance and Best Pop Album that night. This performance also helps her advance to our top 12! Carrie Underwood sang "Because You Love Me", the third song she sang en route to winning Season 4. She is still in the running to win her second Idol crown: the pulse all-star edition! Melinda Doolittle sang"I'm A Woman" to a rowsing response from the judges...and Pulse - she's in the top 12! Next is Vonzell Solomon. She sang "Respect". On her original season, this performance landed her a spot in the top 12. In the all-star Idol edition, Vonzell leaves us. Now for the guys... Up first is Michael Johns, who sang "Don't You Forget About Me" and while the judges didn't love the song, they thought he fully deserved a place in the top 12. Pulse Music Board unfortunately disagrees, sending him packing. Chris Daughtry sang "Broken" and while Randy & Paula loved it, Simon said the song was indulgent. Pulse would like to see the most successful male Idol contestent live on however, in our top 12. Elliott Yamin sang "Heaven" and again, Simon didn't like the song choice. Good enough for the top 12 though! Clay Aiken sang "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me", the song that made Clay a(the) frontrunner of Season 2. It also stregnthens his position here, pushing him into the top 12. Josh Gracin sang "Stay With Me", a big hit for him on the country charts and Pulse - he is another member of our top 12. Blake Lewis sang "All Mixed Up" and even though the judges didn't recognize the song, they appreciated his originality. He's in! Before we narrow our 5 remaining contestents (Jennifer Hudson, Jordin Sparks, David Archuleta, Bo Bice & Fantasia Barrino), enjoy performances by Maroon 5 and Pink! www.youtube.com/watch?v=aHS5i_cHzKYwww.youtube.com/watch?v=EB0RhAUSSVg

We have 3 girls left waiting to hear their fate - 1 of them goes home. Fantasia...Jordin...keep waiting, Jennifer Hudson is in the top 12!
Now for Bo & Archie...Bo sang "I'll Be" and while Randy wasn't sure of it, Simon loved it and calls it his competition to lose. David sang "Another Day In Paradise" and while it is universally praised as a good vocal, Simon warns him not to sing too many depressing ballads. Pulse has chosen, for our all-star top 12...David Archuleta.
Now for the 2 girls...this means we lose another winner tonight. Jordin sang "Heartbreaker" and is rewarded for going outside her comfort zone with a place in the Season 6 top 12. Fantasia returns to the Idol stage to do a medley of "Truth Is" and "I Believe", clearly raising the energy level in the studio. The final member of our all-star top 12 is...Fantasia Barrino!

So now we have reached the finals and we have a new system of voting. Each participant has 100 votes - distribute those votes amongst the remaining finalists however you would like. Until we reach the final 8, you must give votes to at least 3 contestents (you can vote for all of em if you want but the minimum is 3).

I don't understand how the voting works now? Each individual contestant has 100 votes? I don't understand what you mean by distributing them amoungst the finalists if they already have 100 votes. I know I'm missing something here.

Haha, it's ok...YOU have 100 votes to give...you can distribute your votes amongst the 12 finalists however you like (you must give at least 1 vote to at least 3 finalists and you have to use up all 100 votes). For instance, if I wanted to vote for Brooke White, Michael Johns, Syesha Mercado & David Cook for this particular week, my list would read as the following...
David Cook - 15 David Archuleta - 0 Syesha Mercado - 5 Jason Castro - 0 Brooke White - 25 Carly Smithson - 0 Kristy Lee Cook - 0 Michael Johns - 55 Ramiele Maluby - 0 Chikezie - 0 Amanda Overmyer - 0 David Hernandez - 0
make sense?

Votes are in - your top 12 will soon become the top 11...THIS is Pulse's All Star American Idol!
In a night of The Beatles, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, The 60s, Mowtown and more, your top 12 gave it all they had but only 11 gave enough to advance to the next round. We are looking for the bottom 3 vote-getters. The top 12 have been split into groups of 3 - they will come out in these groups to get their results.
Group 1 is Kelly Clarkson, Tamyra Gray & Clay Aiken. Kelly sang "Ave Maria" to an overwhelmingly positive e-response. Tamyra sang "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" at the American Idol Season 2 finale, pleasantly welcomed by the judges and the audience. Clay Aiken sang "I Can't Help Myself" and surged forward as a frontrunner of Season 2. All 3 of these contestents advanced without problem to the next round during their original seasons...this time, Pulse voted and...they are all safe.
Group 2 is Josh Gracin, Fantasia Barrino & Jennifer Hudson. Josh sang "Baby, I Need Your Loving", enhancing his hearthrob role of S2. Fantasia sang "Signed, Sealed, Delivered" and was praised by all 3 judges. J-Hud sang "Baby I Love You" and wound up in the bottom 3. Pulse voted this time and again, Fantasia & Josh are safe while Jennifer goes bottom 3.
Group 3 is Carrie Underwood, Elliott Yamin & Chris Daughtry. Carrie sang "When Will I Be Loved" and while praised by all 3 judges, began her run as the most successful country Idol ever. Elliott sang "Knocks Me Off of My Feet" and while the Stevie Wonder theme was in his wheelhouse, the judges were slightly bored. Chris sang "Higher Ground" and while the SW theme was outside of his comfort zone, he nailed the darring rearrangement. During these 3 contestents' original seasons, all 3 were safe at this round. During this Pulse competition, all 3 are safe again.
Group 4 is Blake Lewis, Melinda Doolittle & David Archuleta - of these 3, 2 of them will join Jennifer Hudson in the bottom 3. Blake sang "You Keep Me Hanging On" and while Randy & Paula liked his re-arrangement, Simon was unimpressed. Melinda sang "Home" and all 3 judges loved her heartfelt take on it. Archie sang "We Can Work It Out" and after forgetting his lyrics, was pummeled by the judges for his "mess" of a performance. These 3 contestents were all safe on Idol after giving their performances but this time, only 1 of them walks away safe. That person is Melinda Doolittle.
Bottom 3: David Archuleta, Jennifer Hudson, Blake Lewis

The votes are in and your top 10 is decided. Let's get straight to the results. We are looking for the bottom 3 vote-getters...
Elliott Yamin sang "Teach Me Tonight" and was commended by the judges for a good vocal and for listening to Barry Manilow's advice on telling the story of a song. Pulse voted and he is safe.
Chris Daughtry sang "I Walk The Line". His radical arrangement of the song recieved outstanding remarks from the judges and reamins one of his greater performances on the show. Pulse voted and disagreed, putting Chris in this week's bottom 3.
Carrie Underwood sang "Alone". The judges loved it and Simon said that not only would she win Season 4, she'd become the biggest-selling Idol ever - a stunningly accurate prediction (has she eclipsed Kelly in total sales?). It has become her legendary performance. Pulse voted and wants to keep her around, she's safe!
Kelly Clarkson sang "Never Again" on the American Idol 6 finale. The song was only a mid-sized hit for Kelly and led off a disappointing era. If Pulse had the final say however, things would've turned out differently - she's safe!
Blake Lewis sang "Time of the Season". The judges loved his rearrangement of the song and American voted him to safety. History repeats itself as Blake is in our top 10!
Josh Gracin sang "I Don't Want To Miss A Thing". Though the judges liked the vocal, they became confused as to what style of music he associates with - pop or country - after this performance, Josh declared himnself a country singer and apparently won over some country fans - he's safe!
Clay Aiken sang "Somewhere Out There" and Randy coined his favorite phrase - "you can sing anything man". America voted him to safety but Pulse has put him in danger. He's in the bottom 3.
Tamyra Gray sang her debut single, "Raindrops Will Fall". The single dissappointed and didn't take off as we would've hoped. Pulse is taking this oppurtunity to get their revenge, granting her safety!
David Archuleta sang "The Long and Winding Road" and the judges said he was back on track after a misfire the week before. Pulse approved as well and he is safe!
Now I will address our final 2 contestents: Fantasia & Melinda - one is safe and one is in the bottom 3. Fantasia sang "Always on my Mind" and while the judges loved her vocal, Simon said it was too old-fashioned. Melinda sang "As Long as He Needs Me" and the judges said they saved the best for last. Tonight, one of these singers is in danger. Fantasia...you're safe.
So now we have our bottom 3: Clay Aiken, Chris Daughtry and Melinda Doolittle

Let's get down to it: Melinda, Clay, Chris...Melinda's safe Now we have Chris Daughtry & Clay Aiken: one of them is leaving the competition. Both contestents were heavily favored during their original season but in a shocking turn of events, was cut. This time, one of these men will continue seeking their rightful victory while the other will bow out in 11th. The 11th place finisher in the All-Star American Idol is...Clay Aiken. The results are in and soon, your top 10 will become 9. Will it become 5-4 in favor of the men or the women?
Let's see our final 5 women: Kelly Clarkson, Tamyra Gray, Fantasia Barrino, Carrie Underwood & Melinda Doolittle. One of these women is in tonight's bottom 3.
Carrie Underwood sang Independence Day and was applauded by the judges, America and Pulse - she's safe.
Kelly Clarkson sang "You're All I Need" and was commended by Simon for "raising the bar". America advanced her to Season 1's final 8 and Pulse also moves her onto the next round - she's safe.
Tamyra Gray sang "Touch me in the Morning" and emerged as the early favorite of Season 1. She's also one of Pulse's 9 favorites as she is safe.
That leaves us with Melinda & Fantasia - one is safe, one is in danger. Melinda sang "Heaven Knows" and Simon said that while she sang it well, it wasn't memorable. Fantasia sang "Heard It Through the Grapevine" and all 3 judges loved her originality and energy. On their original seasons, both contestents were granted safety following these performances. In our all-star competiton, Fantasia is not granted the same safety - she's in the bottom 3 tonight.

And now, our top 5 guys - 2 of which are in the bottom 3.
Chris Daughtry sang "What If". The judges were not as pleased as they had been in weeks before. Pulse voted Chris to the bottom 2 during the final 11 phase despite overwhelming praise from the judges. As the Randy, Simon & Paula take away support, Pulse struggles to counter-act the judges' words as he is in the bottom 3 again.
David Archuleta sang "You're The Voice". His song choice was questionable to the judges but not America. Pulse voted and decided that Archie goes to the bottom 3.
That means Elliott Yamin, Josh Gracin and Blake Lewis are all safe.

And now, back to our bottom 3: David Archuleta, Fantasia Barrino & Chris Daughtry. I'll now send one contestent back to freedom, the contestent that of this bottom 3, recieved the best score this week. Going back to safety, placing 8th this week, is...Fantasia Barrino. Looking to our bottom 2, we have David Archuleta & Chris Daughtry. Both contestents were, for a large portion of their original seasons, looked at as the inevitable winner. Both men were early favoites here as well - in fact, in the original vote deciding our top 24, Archie & Daughtry were the top 2 vote-getters, each appearing on 12 of the 13 lists recieved - now we say goodbye to one of them. Now, back to the matter at hand: Melinda, Josh & Fantasia. Melinda sang "I've Got Rhythm" - Randy said her performances should be lessons to her competitors, Paula called her a vocal masterclass and Simon worried they'd never have anything negative to say to her. Josh sang "Celebration" and it was clear to the judges that he'd been taken out of his comfort zone. Fantasia sang "Something About The Way You Look Tonight" and while it was well-sung, it virged on boring. Before someone goes home, the person in group C with the best score this week goes to safety - that person is Melinda Doolittle. That means Josh Gracin & Fantasia Barrino were our worst-scorers this week. Fantasia went on to win her original season and find solid success on the R&B charts, eventually recieving several Grammy nominations. Josh Gracin placed 4th during his season (though he is Season 2's last contestent standing) and took the country charts by storm. Tonight, by eliminating one of these contestents, we also completely eliminate their respective seasons from the all-star competition. Tonight, Season 3 lives on - Fantasia is safe and Josh goes home. Very soon, your top 8 will become 7. We're looking for the bottom 3 which means only 5 contestents are safe.
Fantasia is up 1st. She sang "Summertime" and Randy said it was the best vocal ever on Idol at that point while Simon called it 'magical'. Pulse fully agreed with the judges, pushing Fantasia onto the final 7.
Blake sang "I Need To Know" and was applauded for a relevent and on-point vocal performance. America voted him to safety after this performance but Pulse puts him in the bottom 3 for the 2nd time.
Carrie sang "Love is a Battlefield". The judges were unsure and Simon said she was reaching beyond her range. Pulse voters disagreed and put her among this week's top 5.
Chris sang "Innuendo" and - all 3 judges liked it but Simon said he missed his chance at having a real 'moment'. If this wasn't a moment for him, Pulse is allowing him another chance to get one in the top 7.
Melinda sang "Sway" and the judges liked her vocal but were a bit bored by her old-fashioned performance...as was Pulse. Melinda joins Blake in the bottom 3 for the 3rd time in the finals.
Kelly sang "A Natural Woman" - Randy didn't know she could sing that well and Simon said she was outstanding. She's safe.
That leaves Tamyra Gray & Elliott Yamin...
