Neither Tamyra or Elliott have gone to the bottom 3 but tonight, one is in danger. Tamyra sang "If I Were Your Woman" and again, the judges praised her to the fullest. Elliott sang "Somebody To Love" and was commended for choosing one of the harder Queen songs. During their original seasons, Tamyra was safe for this performance while Elliott went to the bottom 3. Pulse voted differently, granting Elliott safety and putting Tamyra with Melinda & Blake in the bottom 3 for the 1st time.

Ok, so we have Melinda Doolittle, Tamyra Gray & Blake Lewis in our bottom 3. Of these 3, Blake recieved the best score and is safe, leaving r&b divas Melinda & Tamyra to duke it out in the bottom 2. Both women at one point were THE favorite to win their original Idol seasons but peaked to early to keep the momentum going to the end, ultimately being eliminated in 3rd and 4th place. Tonight, leaving us in 8th place is...Tamyra Gray. Reflect on her Idol journey while listening to the original Idol send-off song, "Bad Day" by Daniel Powter. www.youtube.com/watch?v=j7g6LenMQ5E

Soon, 7 become 6...
Melinda Doolittle is up 1st. She sang "Trouble Is A Woman" and is commended by all judges for technique and personality. Melinda will start Group A.
Blake Lewis sang "When The Stars Go Blue" and the judges appreciate the soft, tender side of Blake. He joins Melinda in Group A.
Fantasia Barrino sang "It's A Miracle" and despite a fun performance, was put in the bottom 3 this week of Season 3. She begins Group B.
Kelly Clarkson sang "Don't Play That Song" and again, the judges love her. She is in Group B with Fantasia.
Now we have Elliott Yamin & Carrie Underwood. Elliott sang "It Had To Be You" and was blasted by the judges for not showing personality. Carrie sang "McArthur's Park", continuing her consistently good vocals. One goes to Group A and one to Group B. Carrie joins Kelly & Fantasia as Elliott joins Melinda & Blake.
Now we have 2 groups of 3 - one group is safe and the other is our bottom 3. Still left is Chris Daughtry. Chris sang "What A Wonderful World" and recieves great praise from Randy, Paula & Simon. He is safe. He now has the choice: which group joins him in safety, moving on to the final 6?

Chris makes a tough choice and sides with group B: Fantasia Barrino, Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. Chris made the right choice; Chris, Kelly, Fantasia & Carrie are the top 4 while Melinda, Blake and Elliott are the bottom 3. Blake & Melinda have been in the bottom 3 multiple times before but this is Elliott's 1st time. The last 2 weeks, someone has gone to the bottom 3 for the 1st time and subsequently gone home...not tonight, Elliott is safe.

Time is up, votes are in and someone is leaving the competition as we find our final 5! Let's not waste any time...
We're looking for our bottom 2 vote-getters. We have split our contestents into 2 groups of 3 - one person in each group is in the bottom 2.
Group A is up 1st: Kelly Clarkson, Fantasia Barrino & Chris Daughtry. Kelly sang "Stuff Like That There" and Paula said she was a triple threat. Fantasia sang "Get on Your Feet" and while Gloria Estefan & Paula loved it, Randy & Simon were disappointed with her vocals. Chris sang "Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman", recieving a standing o from Paula and high praise from Randy & Simon. Kelly...Chris...you both got high remarks from all 3 judges...and Pulse, you're safe. Fantasia is in tonight's bottom 2.
Group B is up now: Blake Lewis, Carrie Underwood & Elliott Yamin. Blake sang "Break Anotha", his disappointing lead single. Carrie sang "When G-D Fearing Women Get The Blues" and was right in her comfort zone. Elliott sang "A Song For You" and moved Paula to tears while Simon called his performance "a vocal masterclass". All 3 contestents were safe this week during their original season but tonight, 1 goes to the bottom 2. That person is Blake Lewis.
Bottom 2: Fantasia Barrino, Blake Lewis Top 4 (in no particular order): Kelly Clarkson, Chris Daughtry, Carrie Underwood, Elliott Yamin

Pulse members: you have decided the All-Star Idol Final 4!
Kelly sang "Beautiful Disaster" and "Walk Away" to warm audiences that loved both performances. Pulse loved her too, she's safe.
Carrie sang "Trouble" and "Bless the Broken Road" and recieved high praise on both songs from the judges, America & Pulse - she's safe.
Blake Lewis sang "Imagine" and "You Give Love A Bad Name". The judges were lukewarm on his Lennon cover but were amazed and impressed by his Bon Jovi remix. Pulse still needs more, he is in the bottom 2.
That leaves Chris Daughtry & Elliott Yamin. Chris sang "I Dare You" and "Renegade" and while the judges loved his "Renegade", they felt his Shinedown performance showed ware and tare on his voice. Elliott sang "Nights on Broadway" and "Home" and neither performance sparked much enthusiasm from the panel...or America (he was bottom 2 on S5 this week)...or Pulse - Elliott is in the bottom 2, Chris is safe.
Top 3 (alphabetical order): Kelly Clarkson, Chris Daughtry, Carrie Underwood Bottom 2: Blake Lewis, Elliott Yamin

Your top 4 peformed and the votes are in...we are looking for your bottom 2, the person leaving us in 4th tonight and ultimately, your top 3. Let's get your final 4 out here now.
Carrie Underwood sang "If You Don't Know Me By Now" and "Sin Wagon". Simon said her SW performance seemed effortless and he IYDKMBN performance was widely praised.
Elliott Yamin sang "If I Can Dream" and "Trouble". The judges were impressed by his 1st performance but his rendition of Trouble left the judges blown away, hoping he'd advance further in the competition.
Kelly Clarkson sang "It's Raining Men" and "I Surrender". The judges and America were sincerely impressed with her performances despite problems with her voice that week.
Chris Daughtry sang "Suspicious Minds" and "A Little Less Coversation". The 1st performance went over well but Simon said his performance of ALLC was boring and not good enough at this stage in the competition.
The first contestent moving into safety, in this week's top 2, and advancing to the final 3 is...

Now, we must address our bottom 2 - Chris & Kelly - one of them is going home and the other fights against Carrie & Elliott next week. The top 4 week has been "cursed" in certain seasons - Kelly and Chris have experienced this. Chris saw the curse 1st hand, as he, the frontrunner of S5, was suddenly eliminated at this phase. In Kelly's season, one-time frontrunner Tamyra Gray was shockingly cut. Tonight, they both face elimination. The person leaving us tonight

We've done it - 82 to 2...your final 3 become your final 2 as we send one more American Idol contestent packing. Before we get to results, this week, each of the contestents got to visit home before performing. Let's take a look at how Elliott's visit home went: www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDRbuR5N_qA&feature=related Elliott sang "Open Arms", "What You Won't Do For Love" and "I Believe To My Soul". Randy though Elliott did well nailing the r&b style. Paula loved all 3 of his performances and while Simon liked Elliott, he predicted these performances would send him packing. We'll see how he did with Pulse in a little bit.
