3 or 4 times, maybe? What? My Alternative station hasn't touched it. Am I missing something? Yes: a damn good song. (I was just curious since you'd posted 3 times in the topic without a comment on the song itself. :)) It looks like my station finally added it into overnights this week. And I missed hearing it last night by about 20 minutes. But we're in luck now, aren't we? ;)

Wow, top 10 isn't unheard of at this point. I remember when I first heard this, it was in the top 50 but it didn't look like it would even go top 40. It just kept a steady bullet the whole way up, possible the quietest climb of 2008 if you asked me.

I find that this song is incredibly creative. Has that U2 vibe, while still remaining original. I'm hoping this song keeps doing better.

Top 10 on Mediabase Alternative:
11 10 AIRBORNE TOXIC EVENT Sometime Around Midn... 965 869 96 4.254
58 stations playing it.
I downloaded the album and I must say it's really solid. I recommend this band to everybody.

I seriously can't believe this song is still climbing. I LOVE it.. but really can't believe how slowly it's climbed the charts. I agree with the previous poster who said they expected it to peak in the 30s.
Nice!

Good to see this doing so well, it's a great song. It's making some noise in the UK at the moment too.

I'm just starting to get into this now. I knew it had been around for a while, but I didn't realize it was released in the summer.

This debuted in the Alternative top 50 the 2nd week of July and has nearly a triple-digit bullet the last week of February. With the possible exception of "Face Down", I don't think any song has ever maintained a bullet this far into its chart run ("Paralyzer" hung around forever after it peaked, but lost its bullet less than 6 months into its chart run). :)

It also took "Hysteria" by Muse awhile to finally peak, too, but it's not as remembered as others.

Didn't Rise against have songs on their last album that took 30+ weeks to reach their peak? I feel like this chart run is very similar to a few of their songs off their last album. However, those songs all sound like hits, whereas this just feels like it might be the most massive payola recipient of all time. I have never been so confused by a song's success in the 12 years I've followed the charts. Never.
I'm not saying the song is bad, but it just does not sound like a hit song at all!

This just feels like it might be the most massive payola recipient of all time. Slow-burning, incremental success is usually proof that a song is not a payola recipient.

Will this song hit number 1? I see the bullet, but is this still being added by new stations?

The band finally officially signed to Island a couple weeks or so ago. And ironically, that's when the bullet weakened.
But I think a couple of radio stations have already gotten rid of this. I'm kind of more interested in what's next, anyway.

They signed to Island, huh. Well then that's the last we'll hear from them. That's unfortunate.

Date Position Spins Trend 8/31/2008 31 391 9 9/7/2008 33 376 -15 9/14/2008 33 402 26 9/21/2008 34 382 -20 9/28/2008 35 396 14 10/5/2008 32 432 36 10/12/2008 31 427 -5 10/19/2008 31 428 1 10/26/2008 32 427 -1 11/2/2008 31 460 33 The song lost a bullet FOUR times and regained it every time. And it almost lost its bullet for a 5th time: Date Position Spins Trend 12/28/2008 11 854 31 1/4/2009 11 855 1 1/11/2009 11 947 92

I mean, even "The Feel Good Drag" hasn't taken that long to reach its peak, and you know how excruciatingly slowly that ascended the chart. How about some news on a followup though? "Gasoline" and "The Wishing Well" are my votes. The label's gonna at least try a 2nd single, right?
