I will have to pay attention to Mario. I lost interest in him after his debut and the song "Let Me Love You". I hated "Crying Out For Me" because it was way too whiny. I will have to give a listen to the new songs. I haven't heard any of them yet.

D.N.A. is getting some great reviews rap-up put them on their website www.rap-up.com/2009/10/13/review-roundup-mario-dna/Entertainment Weekly: Indeed, on his fourth album, D.N.A., the singer tends to get lost inside state-of-the-art tracks by a cornucopia of A-list writers and producers, including Babyface, Stargate, Tricky Stewart, and The-Dream himself, whose signature future-soul sound lends some sparkle to the lovely “Starlight.” B- USA Today: With each new album, Mario, who made his debut as a 15-year-old seven years ago, has grown a little more adventurous artistically. Whether pledging to stay or pointedly saying goodbye, his smooth, emotive vocals hit the right notes. 3 out of 4 Newsday: His take on the catchy “Thinkin’ About You” comes close to his smash “Let Me Love You,” while “Soundtrack to My Broken Heart” is the kind of chugging undeniable pop hit that could have been a hit for anyone from Daughtry to Beyoncé. B+ The Boston Globe: Throughout this unfussy, beautifully sung set, the 23-year-old Mario taps into the tenderness of early Maxwell. One of the best tracks is “Starlight,” an uptempo groove about unabated passion; the beat is crisp and Mario’s singing so smooth that Stevie Wonder would approve.

I listened to the album this morning and it's pretty solid. I liked about 7 on first listen.

Listened to it twice so far. It's pretty good. I expected a little to much better. But he's got some nice tracks on there that standout, too.

First week sales in the 20-25k range, according to Hits. I don't even know what to say.

^ It's a figure that's based on first day sales, but it actually represents an estimation of the whole sales week. Anyway, even if it scans 35k when all is said and done, it's an abysmal number.

^ I really hope that it's false it makes no sense for him to sale that low. I'm very shocked if those are the first week numbers. J records have let him down again. It's time he's moved on from that label and go to a label who actually cares about promoting him and not letting all his music leak way ahead of it's time. I was atleast expecting sales between 80k-100k not no 20k-25k. I read the article it sound like they were just of one day stock of the cds ???. His CD only been out one day how can they make that prediction. I'm just going to wait to next week to see the official and final first week sales before i think Mario's career is over

That can't be true. They should of had it locked to do a Dancing With The Stars performance.

^ I don't think that's the right sales because the article say one day sales so that's probably how much he sold in one day lol i hope.

^Same. Well, my birthday is next week so I will get the album then.
BTW, no one had posted the Thinking About You video. So, here it is, the video is really good and shot well. Another amazing video for Mario!

Mario took it to another level with the "Thinkin' About You" video. he was very stylish in it and it was a big production. He was on 106 and park yesterday gave away free copies of his cd and t- shirts. I really hope his album do better than those numbers they predicted.

Hits is barely off by 3-7k so it's true. They take one day sales and project for the entire week. These are not good projections. What did his last album open with?

^ Oh wow this is bad yea his last album did 75k to 80k in the first week. And GO didn't even have a single that was big as "Break-Up" . I think its time for him to start getting into acting more he's a good actor and start doing more modeling. He's a great singer but this music thing ain't working out for him on a business level .

Wow. I'm really shocked by the album doing so poorly. They need to get him off that BET tour and send him to do some TV promo. I knew him not doing any TV, besides BET, would be a huge mistake.

J seriously screwed up with the album push back. Had they released this when Break Up was at its peak and heavy on people's minds, I'm certain he would've had a stronger debut.

He needs to leave J they have done nothing to help further his career and have given him zero promo i mean it seems like they left it up to him to promote this album hopefully he'll keep smashing with the singles so the album will sell over time. I can't believe he might not even be surpassing Go's 1st week sales that's really hard to believe hopefully they'll raise they're prediction big time

Exactly where is his tv promo i been saying this since "break up" dropped he was suppose to perform on shows like Jimmy Kimmel and Ellen. The only place he performed it was on 106 and park which is not as popular of a show as it use to be. The his label took forever to release "Thinkin About You" as the 2nd single it hasn't even been added to that many stations yet. Chris "transform ya" and Usher "Papers" has already surpassed his 2nd single on urban :(. Well after this album debuts on the charts i hope he gets more singles out and promote like crazy then end this era and leave J records asap they don't care for him as an artist like they do Leona Lewis and Alicia keys. Both of them soon as their singles were release they were performing on national television. This is embarrasing for Mario, Trey Songz sold way more that's crazy ???. Two straight flop albums that sucks his music career is in some serious danger. We'll know officially next week :'(

Two straight flop albums that sucks his music career is in some serious danger. We'll know officially next week :'( The album is extremely solid and it's a shame that he will not even go gold with this album. Those numbers are HORRIFIC. He is one of the bright stars of R&B and it's so sad that he isn't drawing attention to at least sell 100K. Trey Songz is becoming one of the biggest draws in R&B, and he is nearing his peak. His next album at his current pace should be his breakthrough album, if Ready doesn't pick up with the success of his singles. You can't compare Mario's bullet on the charts to Usher's "Papers" and Chris Brown's "I Can Transform Ya". Both artist are coming off a wave of controversy, and Usher will sell by his name. Mario just hasn't gotten to that level yet. Hopefully he will be able to show off all that talent he has before his career comes to a halt.

However, r&b music isn't selling. It's pop, alternative, rock and country. Very few urban acts are selling and I mean few especially if they are appealing to the youth. Alicia will do well, I doubt that Mary J sells what she sold herlast time out, Monica- who knows what she will do but 25k is down there with Sean Kingston's 18k debut.

It was a dumb move to push this back, I'm thinking that is mainly what messed this up. It was refreshing to see him recovering his radio credibility with "Break Up" and it seemed like this album was going to put his career back in tact....

"D.N.A." suffers from bad lyrics and exhausted ideas. "Break Up," "Thinkin' About You," "Ooh Ooh Baby," "I Miss My Friend" and "Get Out" are the finest tracks to be found.
(Too bad another strong song, "Don't Walk Away," didn't thrust itself into the "Hit Em Up Style" cover it seemed destined for.)

Even though his album isn't going to sell well. I hope it becomes a singles album. After 'break up" which did well on it's own without no promotion no live tv performances except BET . I hope "Thinkin About You" takes off right now with the video release. Then i think "Ooh Baby" should be the next release on i-tunes it's the most bought single from the album its even in the top ten on r&b i-tunes :) so that's goods news. "Stranded" should get released as well. Hell even at this time of desperation for some album sales if i was Mario i would put out "I Choose You" and send to pop radio LoL that would indeed take off on their. Since it is a singles world these days i hope he does well in that aspect. Even Soulja Boys last album didn't have good numbers he opened with something like 40k-47k. But he with on to have a hell of a year single wise. "Turn My Swag On" was a huge hit for him as well as " Kiss Me Thru The Phone". Even though Soulja Boy album didn't sell well his singles did great. So if Mario could do great with his singles he'll be good "Break Up" is already successful we'll see how the others fair. And he should definetly be pursuing other labels right now.

^^ Agree somebody needs to be fired or he needs a whole new team and new manager his manager is J. Erving son of basketball legend. He be with Mario all the time their close friends i know it sucks to fire a friend but business is business you need a new manager. Even Letoya luckett fired her management team and hired Alicia Key's team. I hope Mario does something, and what's so funny Mario commented on his twitter last week how he got in to in agrument with his street team he said feel like their dropping the ball and he was right. Here's what he tweeted last week : I got in a argument today wit my street team!!! Droppin the ball!!! I'm bout to go crazy out here! Don't know what I would do without ya'll!7:25 PM Oct 8th from Twitterrific - MarioSoulTruth

Um...I am DUMB AS HELL for sleeping on Mario. I just listened to the clips of this album, not having heard any of it before, no singles, no anything and WOW. 4 songs made me actually tear up. I think that I am going to have to run to Best Buy to get this tonight, even thought I was just there earlier buying Drag Me To Hell.
