The weekend of September 19 is the only weekend without a single rerun. Two weekends had shows that were played only two and three years. The 80s countdown has been doing a somewhat better job of reducing reruns over the past six months. The 90s show, however, simply does not care. Their shows seem very randomly selected, with no regard to how long since the year was last featured or how many times a given chart has already played.

It seems like the 60s 70s snd 80s shows are the only ones with any good stories behind the music. It is true that any year from 1993 onward tends to skew to R&B and hip-hop, while big songs including Don't Speak, Torn, Uninvited and many more do not appear on any countdown unless it is a special. Maybe airplay only hits, sounds like a good theme for the 120.

The 90s countdown needs some improvement. Agreed. Beyond the random year picks and frequent repeat charts, the show is just not that entertaining. Julie Brown prefers to tell stories about what was in the news at the time, or make pop culture references from the year in question, rather than tell the kinds of stories you usually hear on countdown shows. And many of the bumpers between the songs are very annoying. Someone on another forum said they are contracted to use Billboard charts, which is a shame because of how poorly the Hot 100 represented big hits during the later 1990s. Any retro countdown that isn't allowed to feature some of the decades best-known songs is flawed.

Looking at this week in 2008, there were two versions of All Summer Long in the top 40. Then there was a week in 2005 where there were two versions of Inside Your Heaven back to back.

Looking at this week in 2008, there were two versions of All Summer Long in the top 40. Kid Rock didn't release his music on the iTunes store at the time because of a royalty dispute, so there were two karaoke versions of the song that briefly became top 30 hits thanks to the digital sales that the original would've otherwise gotten (The Rock Heroes' being the second). I'm guessing they went with the October 4 chart so they wouldn't have to play/skip over the other version.
