Confirmed by Billboard for July 29 release date.
The first release from the upcoming Timbaland-produced album. It's very pop-produced obviously. The background vocals are strong though. The ballad could be a big crossover hit.

This song is good, looks like "Apologize". I think, Chris Cornell won't do rock more... Chris is also included on Fashion Rock's performances in September. :( To listen another new tracks from Chris Cornell produced by Timbaland: www.1019rxp.com/podcast/rockexperiencepodcast.aspx

I don't know that Chris Cornell as produced by Timbaland will gain a strong foothold in any format. It might do best at Hot AC, but even then I wouldn't expect it to be all that successful.

That's because his solo stuff sucks.

I agree about most of his stuff. But that doesn't stop Modern stations from playing other artists that suck. It XM can play The Ting Tings and Kate Perry, I assume Cornell can squeeze in some airtime. What are you, sexist?

I think you need a bigger sampling to make an assumption like that.

No, because the two "artists that suck" that he mentioned were girls. And if this song is any judgment then I have no idea what the hell Chris Cornell is anymore.

Those songs really do both suck and blow. They're setting the females' place on the modern rock charts back by enough decades that if it goes on for much longer, we should go ahead and renounce their right to suffrage. Luckily I'm sure it won't.

Hey, I love sex as much as the next guy. Haha! Awesome. One-liner of the day right there. if it goes on for much longer, we should go ahead and renounce their right to suffrage. Well women shouldn't have to suffer. So renouncing that could only be a good thing. (Too obvious?)

Maybe females aren't cut out for rock. Even Evanescence's Daredevil song annoyed me after a while. Ha! Daredevil song. "Bring Me To Life", you mean? The first single off Fallen that went like a kajillion times platinum? Females not cut out for rock? Depends on what rock you're listening to. I guess if you don't like Evanescence we can pretty much wipe out Lacuna Coil, Flyleaf, Within Temptation, Kittie, Heavensdust, Arch Enemy, Nightwish, Otep, and any other hard rock or metal band with a female vocalist. But what about Garbage? What about Paramore? Or The Distillers? The Yeah Yeah Yeahs? Heck, No Doubt? Sounds like there's a lot of female rock out there that's not that bad. Of course something tells me you're gonna say you hate every single one of those bands.

LOL...Duffy is far from rock so are we just talking about ANY female musicians? Anyway, I love this man's voice so much that I need to hear this to believe it could be anything less than excellent. How random! Mission from Euphoria Morning is playing. Happy 4:20, too bad I am at work!

"Warwick Avenue" is the next single, and it's a million times better than "Mercy".

I don't remember all of the Joplin singles, but for the ones I do, I'd go Me And Bobby McGee, Mercedes Benz, One Night Stand, and Cry Baby.

I'm surprised this topic lasted this long! The other two I started featuring mostly African American artists were locked without explanation. I was beginning to think race may be an issue in deciding which singles stay open or closed. But I may be wrong if this stays alive. I think it's because Chris Cornell is a rock artist and it will no doubt be released to Alternative, while the other two threads you're talking about featured only pop singers, and there was absolutely no evidence of them being sent to rock. I mean, that Artists Stand Up song is on FMQB going to pop. It's an obvious pop song. It doesn't belong here. But you know, since you know all about research, I expect you know that already.

Alright, is there a place where this is shown on the web that you can link to? Because I have a really hard time believing a song with absolutely no rock artists on it would be sent to rock stations. FMQB and AllAccess both agree that the Artists Stand Up is only going to Hot AC and Pop stations, and not to rock stations. And that Kevin Rudolf single, when you say Modern, is that Alternative or something weird like Submodern or something? Because that isn't on anyone's chart.
FMQB and AllAccess have both been incredibly solid on reporting the correct factual information about radio add dates for singles. They have never been wrong, unless there was a change beyond their control. Honestly, I have a hard time believing a promo CD over two of the most trustworthy sources on the net. And Billboard does have the right to be wrong. If it's going for adds at multiple channels, then Billboard could have listed the Artists song on some formats it's not really going to go.
I don't get why you're so unfailingly blind about some things and then other things you champion logic and research.

I notice it's going for adds at Smooth Jazz too. I think this is exactly like I just said: it's going for adds at so many formats, they just listed them for all formats to let God sort 'em out. No way this track goes for adds at Smooth Jazz. Honestly, I've used R&R before and they're full of crap.
And I know what the Promo Only series is and they do have songs on there sometimes that never really go for adds. Not often, but it does happen. Considering that they're the only place to even list this Rudolf guy, I think this is one of those times.

Are you really pulling the race card here? Are you being that blatantly stupid? It's obvious they were pulled because they are pop singles and therefore don't really belong here in the rock forum. And hell yes Billboard can be disputed, because Billboard is not infallible and can be wrong wrong wrong, because it is the labels that decide what songs from their artists go for adds, not Billboard. Legitimate or not, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that something's not right.

Alright, I could be wrong, but was there ever an ignore user feature on this board before? If there was, can it be brought back? Because I don't think I can possibly control myself.

I semi-liked the James Bond theme he did. But after Audioslave it's been a lot of mysterious stuff. A Soundgarden reunion is basically a certainty eventually, isn't it?
