"Naturally" is great. It should be her next single. I think it has potential to be her breakthrough single on radio much like "See You Again" was for Miley Cyrus.

Was she lip-syncing on Dancing with the Stars? I Think she was, but the backing track was a "live" version of the song, like the ones Britney uses in her tour.

I like those numbers for her :) and I still don't see why you think she lypsync, you would think it could have sounded better if she had a backing track, but still a lot of notes were off-tune and she looked out of breath

Yea, I just watched the performance over again and it was 100% live. Now it wasn't that good of a vocal performance but it was def. live. Not to start any mess but some ppl in this thread seem to be so bothered by Selena, for what? I have no idea Anyway the #'s are good for her, around what I was expecting. She could go gold if HR plays their cards right. Hopefully the album has longevity cause judging by HR's track record I don't see them releasing the next single til January sadly.

If Demi can't go gold then, I can't see selena going gold. All of the disney artist except Miley(and before i get jumped on, i'm not saying this as her fan, i'm saying this as a fact) seem to have longevity issues on the chart. they have their opening week and then they crash. So unless Selena can some how have a song get mainstream airplay I don't see her having much longevity.
and I'm not bothered by Selena, i don't mind her acting at all. It just this singing because your a disney star and you have to thing is stupid. Selena would probably never pursue this if not for disney. I actually think if she stayed away from this singing thing she could have a long acting career and be taken seriously but shes hurting her chances at that by pursuing music.

I agree, I think if Demi and Selena's songs could get some airplay, they would do much better, maybe not like Miley, but still... they have some really good songs, but of course they don't even want to try it ¬¬
Being a Selena fan for years, I was really annoyed when she decided to go through the music path, basically because I think she has a future in acting, and she's not so good on singing. But I can see why she felt the appeal of singing with all her friends being into the music business, and, Disney was the one that gave her songs to start with, so I think that was the first main reason that made her want this.
I love her, and I'm gonna support her, because I prefer to do that instead of tearing her down. And I'm actually really amazed with her work, she, at least has taken it seriously and being working really hard for this, which I admire of her, and to my surprise I found myself loving her album, it's so much fun, I think I could listen to it all day.
And after seeing how things are turning out for her (with the awards), I don't think this is gonna hurt her acting carreer at all. She's young, she's having fun with this, gaining some money in the way, why don't do it? :)

It's Hollywood Records. They're the issue, not Selena. If they would just send "Naturally" for adds it could maybe get some airplay. Maybe be a hit. Maybe sell more albums and make them more money. It's just not in their interests to not send their artists' singles to radio.
BTW, "Naturally"'s up to #41 on iTunes.

thats the thing, all that was IMO because she wasn't like other disney stars who were doing both. I think because she wasn't into music and acting and being promoted like crazy is why people give her a chance and try to take her seriously. I think she ruins that by going into music. Look at Demi, shes a great singer but no one wants to take her seriously and when the climb came out it was killing the country blogs and media to say that Miley might actually have a future there. I think pursing music is gonna hurt what success shes already had with acting. its just a bad career choice IMO. I know, shes still having fun but still.
and I really don't think its JUST HR's issue. I think its a combination of HR and Radio's issue. Radio does seem to like disney stars, even when their songs are sent for adds

^that is what I don't understand with Hollywood...
they should at least send the first single out for radio ads in order to promote the album...they could even do the whole 1 song for Radio Disney and one 1 song for mainstream
The first single from tons of Disney acts they have sent for radio ads (Hilary, Miley, JB, Vanessa) has done decently...radio will play them if the song is good and they have some tv promo...they sent Vanessa's 'Come Back to Me' off of her first album to radio (she had the HSM machine behind her but Demi and Selena have their twitters and Disney behind them) but they sent it for ads and it peaked at #18 on radio...
I just think its crazy that they pay to put Selena and Demi on DWTS and then don't even bother sending their first singles out for mainstream radio ads...
and they didn't send out songs either for Raven and Corbin and they needed it the most...they didn't have Disney shows behind them at the time...they needed the exposure

^ ia, I don't understand how they run their label same crappy thing happened with Hilary... and I think this time around not even the Jonas Brothers are having a second single send to radio, considering they're one of their "main" artists, so we can't expect much for the rest And I still don't think this is gonna hurt her acting carrer that much, she's getting average numbers, I think it will just be some months, and then it will die down, and apart from her fans & some random people, no one will remember her in the music business, well IMO

^^ after the JB's 1st single flopped I don't see them sending that to radio either. Miley on the other hand it seems like they've already got her next 2 singles that are going to radio lined up. I don't get it.
I think if Selena's music career doesn't get to like even demi's label then it will be fine but if she starts to become known for her music as well as acting its gonna be a problem

"Paranoid" did decently. They've sold enough by now of their album to warrant a second single & Hollywood Records is just being stingy now. The second single should have been out by late July & it's already October. Anyway those numbers are about what I expected from Selena. It's a decent debut. She had almost no pre-album promotion. All the contests, live chats & that webseries were Selena & her management's doing. The label needed to get the word out about her album to non-fans & the general public which they chose to not really do. This is precisely why a single sent to radio would have been a good idea. The whole "radio is hesitant to play Disney singles" doesn't really fly when almost every single that has been released to radio from any of the HR artists reached top 30. It really just depends on how made for radio it is. Unfortunately as So Uncool said, knowing HR Selena won't get another "single" (I'm gonna use that term loosely) until January at the earliest. Hopefully they at least make the right decision & release a music video for "Naturally." That song has an ENORMOUS amount of potential. Anyway, tickets for her first public concert go on sale this Saturday!www.ticketmaster.com/Selena-Gomez-tickets/artist/1319569I wish her all the best of luck!

Thats the thing though, we say these songs do decently but unless things do like ~amazing~ disney and HR don't seem to give a crap or want to put in any effort.
Anyways I think if Demi or Selena are going to get any airplay CHR is going to have to show a willingness to play their songs without HR's help. Like they did with Miley and SYA. I don't know if either of them has that kind of song that is such a hit in the making that CHR would just start playing it. I mean sound wise and vocally i have to compare Selena to being more like Ashley and Ashley's songs got Adds dates and did i guess okay but not great or anything

she better hope Miley and Whitney don't sell 20 K more then predicted like they did last week, it will knock her down even more. this is why HR shouldn't have released her this week. she won't even be in the top 10: YOUR WEAKEND TOP 10 (OR 15) CHART PREVIEW: A s**tload of debuts (figuratively speaking) will infiltrate the top of next week’s chart. Outside the holiday months of November and December, next week could mark the first time in nearly two years when each of the Top 15 sells more than 40k. Next Tuesday they may well be popping the champagne corks at Hollywood, in Disney’s first hat trick since they sold the Mighty Ducks. Congrats to topper Peter Paterno… Scratch that—we just learned Peter’s no longer at the label… Columbia could hit the trifecta as well, if you throw in a certain blonde bombshell from Area Code 615. Anyhoo, here’s what we’re looking at—and while we’re at it, here’s looking at you, kid.... * Paramore (Fueled by Ramen) 185-195k * Mariah Carey (Island/IDJ) 160-170k * Barbra Streisand (Columbia) 150-160k * Breaking Benjamin (Hollywood) 140-150k * Alice in Chains (Virgin) 130-140k Jay-Z (Roc Nation) 80-85k * Miranda Lambert (Columbia Nashville) 70-75k * Madonna (Warner Bros.) 65-70k Pearl Jam (Monkeywrench) 65-70k * AFI (Interscope) 55-60k * Selena Gomez & the Scene (Hollywood) 55-60k Whitney Houston (Arista/RMG) 45-50k Miley Cyrus (Hollywood) 40-45k * Dethklok (Williams Street) 40-45k Harry Connick Jr. (Columbia) 40-45k

And they still treat their artists like *** ¬¬ in other notes, Selena said on an interview with MTV that her next single was between "I won't apologize" and "Naturally" because it was the fan favorite

Although I love "I Won't Apologize" too. Yeah I'm a really big fan of both. Second & third singles plz. Speaking of, her upcoming House of Blues tour has added two more dates, here is the current list of dates via Ticketmaster: Nov. 15 - House of Blues San Diego Nov. 21 - House of Blues Anaheim Nov. 28 - House of Blues DallasCan't wait to see videos from all of them! I'm very happy with her 65k debut. Solid sales, & it exceeded what was originally predicted. It will probably fall the standard/average 60-75% in it's second week, but here's hoping it doesn't & that Christmas brings a great amount of sales for the album.

I don't see her going with I Won't Apologize, Selena likes to stay away about talking about her personal life and shes know if they release that shes gonna have to talk about what thats about and i dont think she wants to. I Won't Apologize is the only song i really liked though but I just can't see her releasing it.
