He'll probably be dead before the album even comes out, if it does.

Michael Jackson Expected to Make Concert Announcement Despite his spokeswoman labeling the reports speculative, Michael Jackson is likely to perform a series of comeback concerts in London this summer. A announcement regarding the engagements is expected to be made Thursday by the musician himself. Jackson's last live performance in Britain took place at the 2006 World Music Awards, where he appeared only briefly. The O2, formerly the Millennium Dome, is expected to be the venue for his concerts. Also due to headline there in June, for eight nights, is Britney Spears. – Stephen M. He keeps getting more and more horrifying looking. He made his announcement in front of like forty people, but they made it look like there were tons of fans there by cramming them into a small space and only filming the front few rows.

music.yahoo.com/read/news/61720652Jackson comeback poses more questions than answers 03/06/2009 Reuters Jill Serjeant Is it a comeback or a swansong? Will he sing or lipsynch? Has he still got the moves? Michael Jackson's brief appearance on Thursday at London's O2 Arena, where he plans a series of 10 concerts starting on July 8, raised more questions than it provided answers. The 50-year-old did at least show up, looking more robust than in recent photographs. But his announcement was confused, and left reporters and hundreds of screaming supporters wondering whether his first series of gigs in 12 years would actually be his last. "These will be my final shows ... performances in London," Jackson said. "When I say this is it, I mean this is it. I'll be performing the songs my fans want to hear. This is it, this is really it, this is the final curtain call." Randy Phillips, president of AEG Live which signed Jackson for the concerts, had few concrete answers. He did not rule out more concerts in London and elsewhere in the future, and much more than just music appears to be riding on the summer shows. "None of us are sure," he told Reuters. "I didn't want to get so far ahead of what he wanted to do. "We're holding dates," he added, referring to the O2 Arena where Prince performed 21 nights in 2007 to critical acclaim. "We don't know how big the demand will be." On Jackson's health, Phillips was more confident, saying the performer, who has looked frail and gaunt in recent months, had passed a lengthy physical examination. And asked if Jackson would sing or lipsynch on his eagerly awaited return, he replied: "He's singing." THREE YEAR DEAL AEG Live have a plan to work with Jackson for the next three and a half years that involves concerts, new music and movies, including a big-screen adaptation of Jackson's seminal hit and video "Thriller." The agreement could earn Jackson "well over $400 million," Phillips said, although that would depend on all of the ventures discussed being carried out. While the man who made 1982's "Thriller," the biggest-selling album ever, still has what it takes to move his fans to tears, many commentators were less impressed. Several noted that the humble surroundings of a chilly hallway and makeshift stage did not befit one of the most successful pop artists of all time. Jackson also kept crowds waiting for nearly two hours to make his short announcement. "After announcing that the concerts will be in July, and that he loves us all so, Jackson is gone -- giving four minutes to people who have been waiting five hours, and 12 years, and a lifetime," wrote Caitlin Moran in The Times newspaper. Fans believe Jackson, a virtual recluse since his acquittal in 2005 of child abuse charges, is wise to choose London for his comeback rather than, say, Las Vegas. "I think the Europeans are not as judgmental as the Americans, there is a solid fan base here and we're into 1980s disco and soul, perhaps more than the U.S. where rap and hip-hop dominate," said Lucy Wood, an artist in her late 30s.

It was painful to see him making his "moves" at that press conference.

Michael's concert promoter said he'll have a single out by July before the shows start, and and album is supposedly going to follow. There's even word that he's going to bundle albums with ticket sales.

He is calling the album "King of Pop"? He hasn't had any hits since the "History" greatest hits in the 90s.

Tickets for Michael Jackson's London 02 Arena dates sold out Tickets to Michael Jackson's summer residency at London's O2 Arena have already sold out, despite nine more dates being added during the ticket pre-sale. Last Updated: 2:00PM GMT 11 Mar 2009 Organisers AEG Live said demand for his This Is It shows, which Jackson announced himself at a press conference last Thursday, had been overwhelming. The original 10 dates ran between July 8 and July 28 but this morning organisers added another nine, with dates running until August 26. The tour website crashed on Wednesday morning with fans registering for and buying presale tickets to what Jackson said would be his last shows in the UK. Chris Edmonds, Ticketmaster's Managing Director said: "We have witnessed an unprecedented level of demand for the Michael Jackson concerts at The O2. Unfortunately, due to a technical issue, we were unable to facilitate all immediate ticket requests. Apologies to those fans who were unable to log on, but fans should keep on trying to purchase tickets." No further dates have been announced but organisers said to expect further announcements. Organisers added that Jackson, who has returned to the US for rehearsals, was "ecstatic" at the way the shows are being received. www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/celebritynews/4973415/Tickets-for-Michael-Jacksons-London-02-Arena-dates-sold-out.html

Updated: Jackson To Play 45 O2 ShowsBy Andre Paine, London Michael Jackson has now added 35 more concerts to his residency at London's O2 Arena following strong demand for the pre-sale tickets. The run of shows will now stretch into 2010. Pre-sale tickets for the AEG Live-promoted residency went on sale at 7am GMT on March 11 to those who successfully entered the registration process for a chance to gain access to the pre-sale ticket offer. Tickets go general sale from March 13. There are now a total of 45 dates confirmed, running from July 8 to Sept. 29 in 2009 and resuming on Jan. 7 until Feb. 12, according to Ticketmaster. Prices range from £50 ($68.82) to £75 ($103.23). However, dates have been regularly added so that number could change. The huge response from fans who successfully registered at michaeljacksonlive.com and via text for the pre-sale led to delays online. Chris Edmonds, managing director of Ticketmaster U.K., said in a statement: "We have witnessed an unprecedented level of demand for the Michael Jackson concerts at the O2. Unfortunately due to a technical issue, we were unable to facilitate all immediate ticket requests. Apologies to those fans who were unable to log on, but fans should keep on trying to purchase tickets." The pre-sale allocation for each show is around half the number of total tickets available according to a spokeswoman for AEG Live. The total ticket allocation for each O2 concert is not yet confirmed. While the venue has a total capacity of 23,000, many concerts are around 18,000. www.billboard.biz/bbbiz/content_display/industry/e3i6ae4453d6302585584113292ccf3d760

50 sold out shows in Europe, but his last two tours where mostly in Europe. His last US tour was in 1987. Could he sell well in the US right now? Back in 1987 he didn't do any stadiums in the US, just arenas. I think he could do that again, just a few arena shows in each city: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bad_TourOr who knows, maybe since he hasn't toured the US since 1987 the demand for Jacko is huge in the US. We'll see. His last two tours didn't have any US dates (except for Hawaii): 1996-1997 HIStory World Tour en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HIStory_World_Tour1992-1993 Dangerous Tour en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dangerous_Tour

All 50 shows soldout today michaeljacksonlive.com/Jackson's Tears Of Joy As O2 Shows Sell Out5:12pm UK, Friday March 13, 2009 Michael Jackson cried with happiness when he found out all 50 of his comeback shows have completely sold out, his concert organiser has told Sky News.news.sky.com/skynews/Home/Showbiz-N...On_General_SaleTickets for the This Is It gigs at the O2 Arena were snapped up within a few hours of going on general sale. Shortly afterwards the head of AEG Live spoke to Jackson on the phone to pass on the news. Randy Phillips told Sky News: "He was crying. I could hear it in his voice – he was choked up." Thousands of people queued through the night outside the O2, with many more jamming phone lines and websites. Several hundred tickets were immediately put on the online auction site eBay for up to £1,500 each. Ava Zadkhorvash and Ayesha Obi were first in the queue at the O2 and secured tickets shortly after they went on sale. The pair, both from London, had been waiting in line since Wednesday evening to make sure they got the chance to see their idol. Sky News entertainment editor Jon Bennett said the scale of the ticket sales was unprecedented - but the hard work for Jackson is far from over. "We're into unchartered waters here," he said. "A performer has never attempted to sell this many dates for an arena of this size - let alone managed to sell them out." But Bennett questioned the star's ability to perform so many concerts. He said: "This is a 50-year-old man who - unlike his peers Madonna and Prince - has not performed for more than a decade. "He has a huge task ahead of him and it will be intriguing to see if he can complete the most important part of what is potentially the biggest comeback in entertainment history." Jackson originally planned to play 10 dates between July 8 and 28, but organisers extended the run to 50 shows ending on February 24, 2010. An estimated one million people will now be able to see the so-called King of Pop perform at the 20,000-capacity venue. Half the seats, priced between £50 and £75, had already been sold online to people who had obtained a presale code. Shows will be Jackson's last in London A technical glitch caused by the huge demand affected many people who tried to buy presale tickets through Ticketmaster. "We have witnessed an unprecedented level of demand for the Michael Jackson concerts at the O2," said managing director Chris Edmonds. Jackson has been a virtual recluse since being cleared of child abuse charges in 2005 and has not toured for 12 years.

He must have such an incredible aversion to the US that he hasn't really toured here in over 20 years. I doubt he'd sell like he is in the UK, but I'm sure he'd do very well considering how long it's been since he's last toured here. I mean, most of his fans under the age of 30 haven't ever had the opportunity to see him live. :o
I know he's not particularly fond of touring in general though, since he's said that in the past.

When does he not cry? That act of his is really "too much."
At any rate, he could easily sell out in the US- he's still amazingly popular- the only roadblock might be the economy and how he would charge outrageous prices for seats.

It was reported by the Michael Jackson News website. Doesn't surprise me- he will most likely make a concert film and take the best parts from the fifty shows and edit them together to make it look like a single concert. I wonder how much dancing there will be- there are plenty of people 50 plus who still can pull off shows dancing- especially on Broadway- so his age should not be that much of a factor though obviously he can't over-do it. The leg-kicks should be at a minimum.

The porn star from the "Thriller" video says she was never paid royalties for the video, so she's suing.
