I didn't even notice that Gwen is the first artist since Usher to have 5 singles from one album chart! Sometimes I get caught up in it all and forget that this is a 5th single! The fact that this is getting so much attention as a 5th single is amazing! I think that they just released the wrong single first from the album. I don't think What You Waiting For? was the best lead single for Gwen. Nope i don't think it was a bad thing, although it didn't do very well in the US and didn't help the album to sell a lot in the first weeks, it was a Worldwide hit and was a great way to introduce LAMB.

Exactly. It was performed very well around the world, but the US.

The final update this moves up to #22 thanks to the recurrents. With all the bulletless songs ahead of it, this looks like it will definitely make top 20 with a really good chance of top 15! Top 10 is still very questionable. Amazing for a 5th single! In the past two days this has soared up to #62 on itunes!

Not true. Yeah - Burn - Confessions Pt. II (from original) - My Boo (re-release) - Caught Up (back to original). They might have released "Red Light" otherwise, but who knows how well it would've done. I also bet that Mariah and Kelly make it to three singles, although if their 5th singles end up doing as well as Gwen's is anybody's guess.

It seems like Z100 is generally playing the album version. However, during their mini mixes at 7pm and 12am they have played the Ludacris remix. This is already #27 on itunes overall and #8 on pop! :o Less than a week ago it wasn't even in the top 100. Here is a new MTV article on the single: For Gwen Stefani, Egyptian Cotton Is Something Like Love 11.01.2005 8:00 PM EST Singer's new single, 'Luxurious,' about love, not bling. Gwen Stefani speaks with MTV News in Denver on October 26 Photo: MTV News DENVER — For a song that references limousines, platinum, diamonds, cashmere and even Egyptian cotton, Gwen Stefani's "Luxurious" is surprisingly sentimental. "That song really is more about a love relationship," Stefani said of her new single, the fifth from her debut solo album, Love, Angel, Music, Baby. "If you really listen to the lyrics, it has nothing to do with money or luxury. It has to do with love, being rich in love. I just wanted to think of a clever way to express how you have to work really hard for the rewards of that." When Stefani sings lines like, "Look, I'm livin' like a queen," she's saying that being in love is the ultimate luxury. "I mean, nothing really does compare," she continued, prior to taking the stage for a recent stop of her Harajuku Lovers Tour (see "Gwen Stefani Brings Solo Show To Hollywood 'Hometown' Crowd"). "As I mature ... the people around me are trying to find people they're into and it becomes harder and harder. I just feel really lucky that I found someone that I like hanging out with." Stefani is obviously referring to husband Gavin Rossdale, although strangely enough, she wrote the song with her ex-boyfriend. "Tony and I wrote that song — you would think I would've written that with somebody else, but that was me and Tony in his room," she said of No Doubt bassist Tony Kanal. "I knew I wanted to do this really kinda fast rappy part. And so we were listening to all these different things, trying to rip all these melodies off. It was one of the last songs we wrote." Once Stefani and Kanal thought it was done, they played the song for producer Nellee Hooper, who instantly suggested adding a sample of the Isley Brothers' "Between the Sheets," the same track Notorious B.I.G. sampled for "Big Poppa." "We were like, 'What?!' 'Cause if you use a sample, it means you have to basically hand the song [publishing rights] over to the person that you're using the sample of," Stefani explained. "It's just a weird thing that happened where we had written a song and the sample came on afterward, but it sounded so amazing and meant to be that we just ended up doing it anyway." Stefani never expected "Luxurious" would become a single, and therefore never thought much about the video. "Usually I have right when I write the song," she said. "I had this one vision of this girl that was from high school named Mercedes ... she's very inspiring. She's this total like chola girl, white face, and she used to sit in class and put on tons of makeup. And I used to just watch her, mesmerized. And she would just wear this dark liner and this red lipstick and she had this safety pin and she'd be picking her eyelashes apart. She hadn't taken that mascara off for months."
Stefani called Sophie Muller, who directed the "Cool" clip (see "Gwen Stefani's Song About Tony Kanal To Be Her Next Single") as well as several No Doubt videos, and told her she had to helm it.
"She didn't understand, so I basically had to come up with all the ideas and forced her into doing this different lighting and different style and it was really fun for us," Stefani said. "I'm really happy with how it turned out."
"Luxurious," which was just released, will be the final single from Love, Angel, Music, Baby, as Stefani is now preparing to release her follow-up album.

How'd it fair on the Billboard this week? Jumps 25 spots to #55! #25 on itunes already! I noticed Verizon's Vcast is running a commercial that features the song and the video for it. I wonder if that is helping downloads.

I wonder if that is helping downloads. I'm impressed by how well this song is doing for a 5th single! This will easily outperform Christina Aguilera's 5th single "The Voice Within"! Hum... Could there be a 6th single from L.A.M.B? :) I doubt it. Album sales have begun to tumble and Gwen is starting to focus on the follow-up...

Monster hit for Gwen! One month ago it didn't even go for adds and now it's in the top 20. We were all wrong, and that's a good thing.

This sounds great live by the way...more like a slow jam. I hope she does a live performance of it on tv soon so everyone can see.
