They interviewed Gwen on our morning show today (she had a concert here last night). They said it was cool that she had used a sample from Biggie. She pointed out that the sample was actually from the Isley Brothers. And that she and Tony had basically done the entire song without the sample. It wasn't until Pharrell came in that the sample got added, which I thought was interesting.

I bet it sounded better and a million times more original with Tony's original production.

The Tony part is correct, but Nellee Hooper is the other producer and he is the one who suggested the Isley Brothers Sample. In an MTV.com article Gwen said she was reluctant at first because she would lose a lot of the publishing rights by using a sample. I wish they would have choses a different beat. Why did the bullet drop sooo much today ??? Odd considering it pushed itself back over +400 on the weekend. Anyways so far the peak for this song is #16 on pop. If it goes top 15 it will be great. But like Jennifer said we need to remember it's a 5th single. I am pleased with where it peaked already considering I didn't think it would make top 20 at first.

With the amount of songs loosing bullets ahead of this, top 10 isn't out of the question.

Yea...it's rising slowly for some reason. It is the weekend but still... Almost every song rises slowly on the weekends...no worry. I could never figure this out. If the spin counts always counts the past 7 days, then it should ALWAYS be consistent since there's only one weekend counted regardless of which day you're on. We shouldn't see sudden a drop in bullets during weekend updates only to see it increase again once Monday hits or vice versa. Now if it was, say the "Past 8 days" or "Past 9 days", then it's totally understandable since you'll be counting some days twice. Am I missing anything here? ???

I think it might be because a lot of pop stations run special programming on the weekends. Mine runs dance music on Friday and Saturday nights, for instance. There are also the countdowns. If a song is very popular, it may run once every 1-2 hours on a station. Countdowns take upwards of 3 hours and only play the song once. Lose that extra spin or two across a wide swath of stations and down goes the bullet.

I heard this on the radio for the first time today and it just didn't work. It's too slow and crappy to fit with the Kiss FM format. That's just my opinion of course.

This song has grown on me SO MUCH. I dont even know why. It may be another #1 for her on my personal chart. I went from detesting it to craving it. Glad to see its another solid hit for her (even if its not a smash)

I think "Luxurious" works better as a single than as a track on the album, if that makes any sense. Glad to see it doing well!

i hate this song... however, I just saw the video.
Gwen looks amazing in the video (but then again she always looks great). I love the "american beauty" scene, where she is lying on candy - very colourful !!

The video is great. I love the part where she is getting her nails done, she looks so gorgeous.

It's performance at rhythmic has exceeded my expectations by far. I thought those stations would be turned off by the Isley Brothers Sample, but I guess "Rich Girl" and "Hollaback Girl" along with "Let Me Blow Ya Mind" and "Can I Have It Like That" have made her a familiar name there. I wish some of the bigger audience stations would add her at rhythmic though. She has 72 stations playing her, which I think is about 20 short of the full panel. On pop, she should be able to jump to #11 by next week without a problem. From then on she will have to gain a lot more to crack the top 10. I have a feeling it make peek at #11 which is amazing for a 5th single but annoying since it is soooo close to the top 10. It moved up to #15 on itunes just now, so I think top 20 on the Hot 100 is likely soon.

I agree with you foxxden. I thought Rhythmic stations would get turned off of the song since Gwen is using such a hip-hop sample. I guess not. It jumps up two spots to #11 at Pop!
