Wikipedia isn't always reliable, and ultimately, it is her label that will have the last word on what the next single will be and where it will be released.
So even with LoveGame getting spins on radio, there's still no adds date to confirm that's her next single in the U.S. And even though she said Paparazzi is the next single, again, no adds date, so it's still up in the air. It's safe to assume however that either one of those singles is in line to follow up Poker Face in the U.S.

Remember that "LoveGame" is the current Canadian single, so those could be spins on CKEY...

No, there's a separate Canadian airplay chart; this is the American chart.

I didn't know that. I thought CKEY was a Canadian station, 'cause of the 'C' in front of it.

Remember that "LoveGame" is the current Canadian single, so those could be spins on CKEY... No, there's a separate Canadian airplay chart; this is the American chart. A good part of CKEY's market is in New York, which is still part of the USA. I think. 'Less you got news otherwise before me. I didn't know that. I thought CKEY was a Canadian station, 'cause of the 'C' in front of it. Both of you are right in some ways. Based on today's update, "LoveGame" (as the current Canadian single) is getting airplay on CKEY with 25 spins. The new AMP station in LA however, leads with 28 spins on Pop. KIIS in LA also has started to play the track clocking in at 4 spins. Those are the major stations of note; few other small-market stations have also started playing it. www.mmr247.com/mmrweb/Reports/Reg/ReportMultipleSongActivityByMarketRank.asp?PriorityListID=6418&ReportSongID=1601208&ReportMode=ROLLING&SpinMode=1CKEY is a Canadian station licensed in Fort Erie, Ontario, subject to rules and regulations by the CRTC (Canada's equivalent of the FCC). But in terms of market and audience, it is targeted towards New York State (Buffalo, Niagara Falls), so as a border station, there is the tendency to bend the rules in terms of music content and local programming offered. That way, it can compete with stations licensed to Buffalo or nearby markets in New York State, considering how close they are, just right across Lake Ontario. That would be the reason CKEY is included in the Pop panel and therefore, the song spins from its playlist count towards the American chart. As a Canadian station alone, the market for the station's license is too small and probably would not be included in the Canadian pop panel, instead being considered more like a low-level local community station instead of a major market station. Technically, it should operate the same way like other stations in Canada (only because of its license), but because of its bigger reach and audience across the border, it works a bit on a two-way street and leans more towards operating as an American station, which the CRTC has taken notice of and is obviously not happy about.

CKEY is such a good station. American CHR's need to learn from it.

I see. And with both of them being CHR/Top 40 stations, how do they compare and contrast?

I really don't know anymore. Mediabase seems to bend the rules every once in a while. Although I'm thinking because "I Hate This Part" just went recurrent, they might wait a little while before giving it the purge just so that Pussycat Dolls have at least one song that's charting. Obviously, it's not expected to do anything now especially with the next single "Hush Hush" being pushed for adds, so once that starts charting, anything goes.
I thought all along it was going to follow the same course as "Lovers in Japan" - eventually it got purged after falling below the Top 50 (it peaked at #39, was Top 40 for 3 weeks).

Well, guys, I have been repeating the same phrase over and over and over for all this time, but no one seems to believe or just tries to create an elaborated explanation of a simple rule that I already included in the first version of the Glossary: " There is no specific criteria for a song to be purged... and Mediabase can do purges randomly, but generally refers to songs that are unbulleted and below the Top 40." They may throw a dice on PCD, bet on the Lotto, wait for the week when a Flopsinger is played anywhere in the world, etc, etc ;) No rule has been identified yet, there are ideas, assumptions, but at the end the common rule we have found is that There is NO rule ;)

Wow, look out for a triple threat of new entries into the Top 50 - Katy Perry, Sean Kingston, and Jessie James. Jump Smokers have run out of steam, after peaking at #51 officially on Sunday.
Looks like "Jai Ho!" is just going to slide down into oblivion - If it's at #81 today, I wouldn't be surprised if it falls below #100 later in the week.

Well, guys, I have been repeating the same phrase over and over and over for all this time, but no one seems to believe or just tries to create an elaborated explanation of a simple rule that I already included in the first version of the Glossary: " There is no specific criteria for a song to be purged... and Mediabase can do purges randomly, but generally refers to songs that are unbulleted and below the Top 40." That is certainly a valid point and I'm glad it was brought up. But I'm beginning to think there's another factor playing a role - AT40. So far this year (not sure if it was the same case last year), songs that have at least charted on the AT40 (regardless of how long they lasted) but have not spent 20 weeks inside the Top 40 on Mediabase are the ones that have been purged. In going back to the Top 50 charts that have been posted every Sunday since the beginning of the year and looking at the songs that have been purged, they have all charted on the AT40. Now, whether that is a coincidence remains to be seen. I was even thinking of perhaps making a thread listing songs that were purged so far this year - if someone could help me put together last year's list, it would be interesting too. But what else could explain some songs still charting even though they might have spent a few weeks oficially inside the Top 40 on Mediabase? We already know that songs which never reached Top 40 on Mediabase continue to chart, but in large part, they never got sampled on AT40 to begin with either. So altogether, a song that eventually gets purged has spent some time on the AT40. This year's list so far includes (in no particular order): Savage - Swing T-Pain f/Lil Wayne - Can't Believe It Coldplay - Lovers in Japan Brandy - Right Here (Departed) Fall Out Boy - I Don't Care Metro Station - Seventeen Forever Lil Wayne f/Bobby Valentino - Mrs. Officer Christina Aguilera - Keeps Gettin' Better O.A.R. - Shattered (Turn The Car Around) The Killers - Human Ludacris f/T-Pain - One More Drink Hinder - Without You Lesley Roy - Unbeautiful Rihanna - Rehab David Cook - Light On Thriving Ivory - Angels On The Moon Leona Lewis - I Will Be Katy Perry - Thinking Of You John Legend f/Andre 3000 - Green Light Eminem/Dr. Dre/50 Cent - Crack A Bottle Saving Abel - 18 Days So if there's one other thing these songs share in common, they all charted on the AT40 for at least one week. Honestly, I don't know why it seems I'm making a big deal out of this, but I thought it was something interesting. If this assumption holds, songs like "The Fear" and "Secret Valentine" (which have been losing considerable spins as of late) could be exempt from getting purged and instead, be left to slide down the chart below the Top 50 like "Jai Ho (You Are My Destiny)". Why? Because even though they have charted inside the Top 40 on Mediabase, none of these songs ever got sampled on AT40. So they would in some ways, end up in the same group as songs like "Leave Out All the Rest", "A Little Too Not Over You", "Let Me Be Myself", "Broken" and "Bad Girlfriend" just to name a few.

I think purging should have rules like recurrents. It just seems more logical that way if you ask me. It should be this...
If a song has reached the top 40 on official Sunday night updates, and has fallen below #40 with a "bullet" of at most -250, it should be purged, as I don't see them ever growing again.

Yeah, I think that seems a lot simpler rather than "playing God" in deciding which songs will get purged or otherwise. By using that approach, that would be regardless of how many weeks it spent in the Top 40. So even a song that reached the Top 40 for only one week on the official charts with a bullet of -250 or lower would be subject to purging. I like that rule.

Some interesting acts below #100, I must say. Perhaps it's just me, but it looks like we're witnessing the next wave of potential female pop artists and groups (aside from the others on this list like Paula, Brooke and Ashley who are already established in some right). And they're all getting the support of big names behind their respective labels (P.Diddy, Akon, Robin Antin).

Not to mention, newcomers Kristinia DeBarge and Jessie James have already reached the Top 50 with their first singles on Pop.
Out of curiosity, I wonder if there are any other emerging female artists/groups currently charting on Pop.
