For some reason I get a little bit of a "Thank God I Found You" vibe to it. It's not bad.

Amazing song Mariah, such emotion! Took a long long time but shows you once more how Mariah's a true artist instead of an one genre singer. Being artistic pays off! :)

I kinda like this, however, I preferred the one that was on YouTube a few months back. I like the arrangement too.

This sounds like some Charmbracelet garbage. At least it's not E=MC2 garbage.

In my opinion, one of Mariah's strongest albums, in fact. I still have yet to hear Right to Dream in its entirety, by the way, if anyone has it....thanks!

However I would like to see her go all out next up, out of that comfort zone that's R&B like she does here. She can have her songs in the genre but be artistic and show once more you're more than that alone. Pop/Rock/Dance/R&B/Jazz if that makes any sense. Cover it all, kind of in the vein of the marvelous debut album. Her early albums up to Butterfly remain best to me.

^^^She had some gems on E=MC2. For The Record? I Wish You Well? Especially For The Record I'd say lives up to her best work. It's one of the best, perhaps the best new song she has.

I love For The Record, amazing song, amazing lyrics. But the record lacked a true 'Mariah' ballad. It's like Simon Cowell said about Mariah recently. She needs to go back to what she does best, and noone does ballads like Mariah used to! All she needs is a couple on the album. The rest can be full of rappers and uptempos if she wishes. A record which combines the sound of her old albums with her new ones would be great - something for everyone!

It's what I've been pushing for a long time, acknowledge your origins and combine the best of both worlds. That and being artistic in exploring different sounds is the red line running through all. Lay off the Hip Hop overkill and rappers, they don't do any good. It ain't even working anymore, long overdue. Voice of power's meant to shine on her own, no need to waste time by letting others limit you. Collabs can happen as long as they bring something to the table in artisticy but limit them to hold your own. Bring back the power vocal all the way and show you can still belt through your song.

To me, it's also how she sings the ballads now. I don't necessarily mean belting them, I want her go back to singing the words beautifully, rather than the fast-talking style she's adopted since Mimi. Even though I don't think Right To Dream is a particularly strong song, it is different from the types of songs we've had on the last two albums and I welcome that.

It's nothing extraordinary, but it's miles better than I thought it would be. I agree that it sounds like something from Charmbracelet, but it would definitely be one of the strongest songs on that album.

I don't know what E=MC you guys are listening to, but mine has 7 ballads on it, the same amount the regular TEOM had. If anything, I was surprised as to how many ballads she had this time around. They weren't classic Mariah ballads though.

It's not the number of ballads that are in question, but the quality/style of them. Like you said, none were classic Mariah ballads.

I don't know what it's going to take for people to let go of Mariah's past. She doesn't want to make the same music she made in the 90s. Accept it and move on.
