thanks LAguy for the wmv version!
I love the video and laughed outloud several times... Obviously a lot of time and money was spent on it and it's memorable... too bad the song isn't.

I wonder how much effort the label will be putting into this effort, with serious promtion it might manage to get somewhere, left to its own there's no chance though.

Press Release
Source: LaFace
Pink 'I'm Not Dead' in Stores April 4, 2006 Tuesday January 24, 3:28 pm ET 'Stupid Girls' Video Debuts January 26 on MTV's Overdrive
NEW YORK, Jan. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- On April 4, 2006, the multiple Grammy winning, multi-platinum selling LaFace recording artist known as Pink will unleash her 4th album, I'm Not Dead, and it is everything it should be: a stylistic evolution; a stunning display of her craft as a vocalist and songwriter and a very personal scrap book of everywhere she's been and everywhere she's going. This is Pink in top form, as brutally honest and as soulfully vocal as only she can be. This album brims with Pink's signature funk, but I'm Not Dead reveals her rock and roll side more than ever. It's undeniable proof that Pink can belt the blues as well as she rocks the dance floor.
It's going to be a huge year for Pink. The first video off the album, for the song "Stupid Girls," was shot by acclaimed director Dave Meyers. The clip shreds everything Pink hates about superficial pop culture and how it affects young girls' self-image. It is a challenge to women everywhere to seek better role models than the "porno paparazzi girls" with their "itsy bitsy doggies and their teenie weenie tees," that our culture celebrates on TV and in magazines. The video satirizes the cult of exercise-obsessed, calorie fearing, breast-augmented human Barbie dolls everywhere.
MTV's Overdrive, the broadband network, will exclusively premiere the full length video for Pink's "Stupid Girl" on Thursday, January 26 after MTV's TRL teases fans with a 30 second clip. The video for "Stupid Girls" will be available on demand on MTV Overdrive exclusively for 24 hours. Pink is also scheduled to appear on MTV's TRL on Monday, January 30.
I'm Not Dead is also Pink's most confessional work to date. Whether discussing heartbreak, childhood, doomed romance, fake friends or the cult of celebrity, Pink states her mind with open-eyed candor -- and two tons of attitude.
Pink Executive Produced the album, Produced and wrote on every song, and was joined by a host of talented collaborators. Producer/Songwriter Billy Mann, Max Martin and Luke Gottwald lent their skills to several tracks, as did singer/songwriter Butch Walker, hit maker Mike Elizondo and the iconic duo The Indigo Girls. The resulting album has it all: rock and roll, soul and funk, and 100 percent Pink.
Pink has a lot to celebrate. She recently married her longtime boyfriend, motocross legend Carey Hart in a small, secluded ceremony in Costa Rica, and she's about to release an album that is something to be proud of -- its Pink pushing the envelope, yet again. "I'm Not Dead," indeed. World, you've been warned: the infamous Alecia Moore is back again and this time she's better than ever.

The weird thing is, the song isn't listed as "going for adds" anytime soon, and the label/press release keeps referring to the song as the first video instead of the first single. The more I think about it, it seems as though they're just releasing this to TV outlets and bypassing a radio release. Which is smart. I bet you they'll have "You And Your Hand" going for adds sometime in late February. The video is already in the can.

That video probably won't get MTV play. The bulimic scene is in bad taste. Have some respect Pink, you fucking idiot.

The whole video is in bad taste. I'm pretty sure that's the point.

Although the vomit scene is gross, I think the only people you're going to see complaining about it are the fans of Lindsay and co (I don't think she was mocking Mary Kate). Eating disorders are no laughing matter, but when you're Lindsay Lohan and you have girls watching your every move while you out in public glorfying a gaunt and unhealthy figure, then confirm your problem in magazine interviews only to later pathetically detract it, you start to look like an immature, irresponsible, publicity whore brat. I think that's exactly what Pink was hitting at.

The thing that annoys me about this video is that she says she doesn't want to be one of these stupid girls, yet she's doing all of the things she says she doesn't want to be. OK, so she's mocking them, but by mocking them she's managed to get nearly naked in her video. If she wanted to make a point then she would've done something more tasteful.

The video was okay. The song seems a little repetitive. Does anyone have a link for me to listen to U and Your Hand? I want to see if I like that one better than Stupid Girls.
Thanks!

You can find a clip of the song in the UAUH thread which is on page 2 in the non-singles section.

I think it's all just a joke.. she's acting in the video, you can't take it too seriously. Having this kind of attitude about it will most likely up her cool factor.. which is also something that can help sell the album. She's cool, she's fun and it appears that she has something to say, unlike her fellow poptarts.

I'm pretty sure that is the plan. I'm trying to remember what Doc said. I think Stupid Girls was released to create some buzz around Pink and then a month before the release they're releasing "U and Ur Hand" to radio.
Here we go:

IMO they should just go with one single at a time. Videos have proven to help a song's performance before. If Stupid Girls has a video they should just send it out to radio. The video's buzz can really help the song. But if they decide to go with their plan, it's okay, as long as Pink has an album out soon... which she does!

I'd be extremely happy with it if they released this to the video networks and "You and Your Hand" to radio. Or this to radio first, either way both songs are great.

She reminds me of Sally from 3rd Rock From the Sun in that and the Paris scene.

Goes For Adds on February 28. I think it's a bit too late. They should release it mid-feb.

Why would it flop? It's catchy and it seems really radio-friendly. Plus, the video hype will carry it at least Top 20. I mean it's one of the best videos in a while. This kinda reminds me of Mariah's ILT. Mediocre but catchy first single that made it Top 20 on Pop.

I'm pretty sure radio will just start playing the song before the adds date.

I'm pretty sure radio will just start playing the song before the adds date. No doubt about that! Once THAT video is out, the radio will start playing the song too . "Stupid Girls" is silly enough to become a big radio hit!

This kinda reminds me of Mariah's ILT. Mediocre but catchy first single that made it Top 20 on Pop. I'm not so sure. The song is a mess - a terrible choice for a first single. What Pink needed was a catchy, likable single that could get played to death on radio without repelling listeners, but this song is NOT it. It's pretty tuneless. As evidenced by Missy Elliott, you can have the most eye-popping video in the world but it's not going to help your song skyrocket or your album sell. I mean compare this to "U And Ur Hand" - the original choice for first single... this just sounds wack.
