Has this song been given up for dead? I finally found the original version of this and have been giving it some substantial play the past few days. I have to say, it's a great sample and probably IMO easily Hall & Oates best song, but I can't help wondering if there are people out there who champion this song, but at the same time chastise rap music for being sample heavy. Not anybody here necessarily, but years ago I used to get into fights with music (well rock music) purists about rap relying too much on samples for their creativity and wonder if those same people would give Simply Red a pass because they are considered a legitimate band.

That's a great question; Hucknall's certainly got the voice to do a great job with it, the melody is there...

I think "Sunrise" is a better song than "I Can't Go For That".

This song had one of its biggest bullets only a few days ago. On the AC chart, you could be -100 one day and +100 the next. I don't think it's over yet.

I think "Sunrise" is a better song than "I Can't Go For That". Agreed. This deserves to be top 5 at least. Some of the stuff up there really needs to go away now.

I find "Sunrise" oddly fascinating. I hate it, but I'm drawn to it for some reason. I can't bring myself to switch to another station when it comes on. The song gives me an eerie feeling, that's quite reminiscent of... sunrise! You know that feeling you get when you go down to the lake front and watch the sun rise? How the hell did they manage to reproduce that? ???
I dislike Mick Hucknall's voice but I used to like some of their big hits that I can remember "Stars" and "If You Don't Know Me By Now". I hate "Fairground".

I really hate to sound like I'm throwing another dissenting opinion on these boards, and I am really not a H&O fan at all and I did meet them once because they knew a daddy of a close friend of mine and blah blah blah, but me personally, I believe if me or tico or josh or adam or dave or my brother or ur mother or my girlfriend or ur next door neighbor or ur pet rock or the girl i met at the bar last week or anybody took this intrumental track and threw any words on it, it would sound awesome! and to me that is a credit to H&O and not Simply Red.

This song annoys me, and I like H&O. They should have just covered the song.
