Y100 plays Jocelyn Enriquez - Do You Miss Me as a gold. PST and Q102 in Philly play that occasionally too. Q plays "A Little Bit Of Ecstasy" a lot more though.

I used to hear once in a great while, in the 80's, I'd hear Bobby Freeman's "Do You Wanna Dance", absolutely LOVED that version. Never hear it now, so I guess that was kind of rare.

This one may not be considered obscure, but yesterday I heard 10cc -- "The Things We Do For Love" on a local AC station. Ten years ago, I heard this song all over the place, but not so much lately.

I heard "Living On Video" by Trans-X on the radio the other day. I hadn't heard that song in sooo many years, but it felt good to hear it again.

Funny how things turn around when you hear an obscure song that most of radio left abandoned except a few that is believed to be heard on a continual basis. I'm launching Flashback Friday on WBAD tomorrow evening which consists of mostly old school selections that regular urban or urban AC stations would not play anymore. One of the few examples of which was an oldie I once played by Kraftwerk called Numbers. Very technical in a sense.

Our station used to play lots of B-Sides. They used to play April Wine's Not For You Not For Rock N Roll, Queen's Sheer Heart Attack, and an EXTREMELY rare version of Iron Man (which took me months to find). They also play lots of AC/DC and Boston album cuts.
Now they have hardly any selection...it seems they'd sooner play Limp Bizkit than Led Zeppelin...

Lifehouse "Breathing" was on Z104 the other day.
I thought it was "Sunny Came Home" until I heard the vocal.

With all the "Jack" stations popping up all over the country, I foresee this topic growing faster than it has been.
For instance, on Chicago's new Jack FM station (replacing Oldies 104.3), I heard "No One Like You" by the Scorpions twice this week.
And, this past weekend, on Sunny 101.5, which runs "Totally 80s Weekends", they played "You've Got It" by Simply Red, from the fall of 1989. Last time I remember hearing that on the radio was back in 1993, when WHFB in Benton Harbor played it. And even then, they played automated tapes at night, so I got to hear tons of obscure hits. Other than that, I don't believe radio has touched it since 1989.

Does Tom Petty's "Don't Come Around Here No More" count? (I ask because I know it did scrape the Top 20) Heard that this morning on Joe.[/font]

There is a station in my listening area, which also broadcasts online, that doesn't hesitate to play obscure songs once in a while. Needless to say it's one of my favorite stations.
It's WHCN (AKA "The River 105.9") in Hartford, CT. Over Memorial Day weekend, they did an all-80's A to Z weekend. They managed to go the bulk of 4 entire days without repeating a song, and that was only from one of the decades in their playlist!

Tarzan Boy gets a lot of play on 95.5 PLJ's Saturday Night 80s or 80s at 8. I've heard YLA twice and SMMSLT once on the radio in the past week.

With all the "Jack" stations popping up all over the country, I foresee this topic growing faster than it has been. Just today, Jack here played "Captain Of Her Heart" by Double from 1986. If I'm not mistaken, this song either barely made or barely missed the top 20. It's not the first time they played it, though. Jack has also played the Belle Stars' version of "Iko Iko" from 1989. I hadn't heard that song in well over a decade.

"The Captain Of Her Heart" peaked at #18 on the R&R chart in September, 1986.

I used to hear "I've Seen You Around" by Touch & Go and a bunch of other weird dance songs on 92.7 WLIR while it still existed. "Lady (Hear Me Tonight)" by Modjo would be another good example. Other than that, radio is pretty boring up in Connecticut.

This morning at around 9, JACK-FM (that replaced WCBS in New York two weeks ago) played the 12" US Club Mix version of "Situation" by Yaz from 1982.

These are not so much obscure songs since they were big hits, but you don't hear them much on the radio, but today I heard "Don't Wanna Live Without Your Love" by Foreigner on my Jack FM today and then I flipped over to the AC station and heard Huey Lewis & the News' "Doin' It All For My Baby".

On Sunday I heard Matchbox Twenty's "Mad Season" on WMJO. I wouldn't really call this an "obscure song," considering it got a lot of radioplay back when it was released...I still hear it a lot even now.

How's this one? "Cry" by Godley and Creme from mid 1985. I haven't heard this one for ages. Had to stop and listen to the song.

The other day while on the road, I was listening to a satellited AC station and heard "Once In Our Lives" by Paul Carrack and the theme to the TV show Northern Exposure. A week or two ago, I saw the video to "This Time I Know It's For Real" by Donna Summer on VH1 Classic. That was the first time I heard it anywhere in years.

Yesterday on KTU I heard "Angel Eyes" by Lime, from 1983, and then flopped over to Mix 102.7 and they had just started to play the exact same song. Only on New York radio would you hear these two rarities played back to back on different stations like that - I can't think of any other market where this would happen.
