That's a good one! If I'm not mistaken, that was a #1 AC hit, but most radio station only seem to want to play Elton John's awful 70s songs.

Tonight on Jack FM: "Everlasting Love" by Howard Jones (his best song). That song's not all that obscure. I hear it on AC stations every now and then. Howard's obscure songs would probably be "New Song", "What Is Love", "Life In One Day" and so forth (didn't he have a few in the early 90s?)

"Everlasting Love" hasn't had that much airplay around here in quite some time. In fact, the last time I remember hearing it on Jackson radio was when WYOY had it in regular rotation in the late 90s.

Anyhow, on XM's The Groove channel, they're playing "Giving You the Benefit" by Pebbles.

I'm listening to WEFM right now, and they're playing music instead of broadcasting a ball game like they usually do at night. As you may have expected, I heard several obscure songs. I can't think of them all right now, but the most recent were:
"Every Road Leads Back To You" by Bette Midler "I Do" by Natalie Cole f/Freddie Jackson "The Main Event/Fight" by Barbra Streisand "Love Is Forever" by Billy Ocean "Nothing But The Radio On" by Dave Koz featuring Joey Diggs
Plus, a countless number of jazz songs, which they play about four or five of. One of them, however, was an instrumental version of "Then The Morning Comes", which, of course, was originally by Smash Mouth. They're playing one right now that's apparently called "Do You Feel Me", since those are the only lyrics in the song. But I'm damned if I know who it's by. And now, as that song is over with, they're now playing "I Can't Help It" by Olivia Newton-John with Andy Gibb. The last time I heard that on mainstream radio as part of regular programming? Longer ago than I care to remember....
EDIT: And after that, they're playing a song that makes mst3k *gag*

So I take it that "Written In the Stars" (the duet Elton did with Leann Rimes) didn't chart? It only charted on Billboard, peaking in either the 30s or 20s.

On my road trip Friday, I heard "Just Another Day" by John Mellencamp. Unfortunately, I don't know what station it was on, but it was in Illinois. Saturday on Jack FM in Chicago, they played "If I Am" by Nine Days. On the roady coming back home, I heard "I Owe You One" by Aaron Neville on another Illinois radio station (but I don't know the name, but it was an easy listening station south of Chicago).

I will say this, though: It does not sound like the sort of song that would peak at only #21 on the Pop chart.

On vacation this past week, I heard "My Way" by Usher. I don't think I'd heard it on the radio since it was used as a Double Play on AT40 a couple years ago.

If it came out now rather than 1987, it wouldn't even touch the Hot 100 or R&R's pop chart. It might take a sniff at the AC chart because AC now barely plays any of his music, solo or with Art Garfunkel.

I wasn't referring to nowadays.

The Graceland album was a huge album for Paul and it earned him a lot of Grammy nominations and awards. Plus, the video for "You Can Call Me Al" featured Chevy Chase, who was somewhat popular during that time.

Last night on the John Tesh radio show, he played "Hold On My Heart" by Genesis. This isn't that obscure to me since I it's on a Genesis greatest hits CD I have, but it's one Genesis song you don't hear on the radio often.

I heard "Moments Of Love" by Cathy Dennis on WEFM (where else?) this morning. That was a mid-charting AC hit for Ms. Dennis in the spring of 1993. Other than "Countdown America with Dick Clark", I never heard that song on the radio.

I remember hearing "Moments of Love" on WBLI during their AC phase in the early-mid 1990's.
Yesterday I heard Michael Jackson's "Dirty Diana" on WTIC's flashback weekend.
