I watched "School Of Rock" last night on Showtime, and this song was featured in a bar scene. It was funny to see Joan Cusack react when she heard it.
From 1981, this is probably Stevie's best solo song. I love it.
Of course Stevie appeared in the "Bootylicious" video with Destiny's Child, as that song sampled Stevie's.
Classic!!!!!

I love this one!
That was an interesting use of the sample in "Bootylicious." And that video was hot!

It's just a perfect song and the lyrics are really out there. I know the title came from I think it was Mick's girlfriend at the time, she said "age of seventeen" with her accent which is the age Stevie was when she met Lindsey, and to Stevie it sounded like "Edge of Seventeen". Some of the lyrics refer to the death of John Lennon and others refer to the death of her father. I know the line about being left standing in the hall is about being in the hallway at the hospital after her father had passed.

I love it. The "Bootylicious" use of the sample was horrid.

Awesome song, and great album too. Bella Donna also contained "SDMHA" with Tom Petty & "Leather And Lace" with Don Henley.

I've heard Lindsay's which I love but I haven't heard this. Anyone have a link? I really adore this song.

My favorite Stevie solo song!
It's basically a mixture of being about when John Lennon died and also, around the same time, Stevie's uncle passed away. It was Tom Petty's wife who was talking with Stevie and had a thick Southern accent and said "age of seventeen". Stevie heard this and thought she said edge of seventeen and told her she was going to write a song titled that, it sounded cool. The rest....is history. :)

Like said above, easily Stevie's best single. I think I'll dig it out and listen to it right now!

This is a great song, but I've grown tired of it over the years.

This is a great song, but I've grown tired of it over the years. I agree, and I'd extend that to the entire album. It's one of FM's best, but unfortunately it was so overplayed at the time - and I do mean almost every track - that I almost never deliberately play it and I'll usually tune it out if it comes on the radio. AbE: 'scuse me, I meant to say SN instead of FM.

Great song and since I grew up after SN and FM's peaks it never suffered burnout with me. "Bootylicious" was a real travesty.

Everything about this song is just awesome. The riff, the harmonies, the chorus. I could go on and on.

One of my favorite tracks from Stevie, it's just a very haunting track. The riff is iconic and of course that chorus.

The best of Stevie Nicks' solo career and a great classic! The guitar playing is legendary!

This is still such an incredible song. I love the story she is telling in the lyrics coupled with the production.
When the Crystal Visions – The Very Best of Stevie Nicks collection was released in 2007, remixes of "Stand Back" and this were commissioned to promote it, however, only the "Stand Back" ones actually came out. There is an absolutely massive remix of this by Tracy Young (she also did "Stand Back"). It's a shame that it never got out.
