When I was boarding the plane just barely they were playing Lease On Life by Andy Grammer through the speakers lol. That's the first I've ever even heard a plane play something through speakers lol. I've never had that happen before lol. Anyway, Lease On Life is a banger, so I wasn't complaining.

Over the past week or so, I have heard two covers of songs from the 1980s at two different stores. About a week ago, at Kroger, I actually heard a cover of a cover - "I Think We're Alone Now". at first, I thought it was the Tiffany version (since it was definitely styled after that version), but I could tell the difference. It may have been a re-recording by Tiffany as well.
Then, earlier today, at Walgreen's, I heard a cover version of "Something About You" by Level 42. I checked out several cover versions on YouTube and I've narrowed it down to either the Anthony David version or the one by Cary David from Grey's Anatomy. I would err towards the latter, but it doesn't have the "ooh" intro, which I could have sworn I remember hearing. Then again, I could be wrong - today was quite a day for me, but that is another story for another time.
I heard Sabrina Carpenter's "Right Now" at Barnes & Noble recently. I've previously only heard her most popular songs out in public, so them playing a random album track off her debut album is really surprising. Mad respect to them, though, it's one of the best tracks off her first album IMO.
Just Be Free's topic about hearing an obscure song at the mall earlier today inspired me to create this topic. What are some songs that you've heard at places like the grocery store, the department store, the mall, or at a restaurant?
The other day, when I was eating dinner at Fazzoli's, I heard the song "There Must Be An Angel (Playing With My Heart)" by the Eurythmics. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that song, even though I'd heard it recently on one of my AT40 Flashback CD's. But hearing it unexpectedly like that was cool. The next song they played I hadn't heard on the radio for awhile either, "Lido Shuffle" by Boz Scaggs (although that's nowhere near as obscure as the aforementioned Eurythmics song). Two obscure songs I remember hearing in the spring of 2001 were "Private Emotion" by Ricky Martin & Meja at the Marquette Mall in Michigan City (and, since we all know how much I love that song, I think it goes without saying that I walked around in the hall listening to it). The other song, which I heard a month early (in late April, 2001) was "Breaking In To The Past" by Jane Kelley Williams, which I heard at Osco Drugs. I like that song, but since I'd made my purchase as the song started and I was in a hurry (I had tons of errands to run that day and besides, I have the song on tape), I didn't stick around to listen to it. Other than that, I don't remember any hearing unusual songs at the store (though I'm sure there have been many more - I just can't think of them right now). Any of you ever heard any such songs recently?
Hey Hervard! Do you still have numbers 90 to 100 on Radio & Records' 1989 year-end chart? I copied them down, but I lost it. So if you still have it, please send it to my inbox or you can post it here. Thanks!
