Was just watching some of the DVD LiveAid from 1985, and listened to Dx2 perform this song live, and FWIW, they actually did a really good job reproducing an obviously studio enhanced track. And I've seen Duran Duran live three times (twice at MSG arena) and realized that this band really deserves a lot of credit for being a solid, functioning touring act.
The song itself is catchy, obtuse lyrically, but is a super fine piece of pop music.

great song. I remember the first time I saw the video and thought it was an insanely good song. I also remember it climbing 13 spots or so one week and being psyched!

This is an excellent song, but it's not even close to my favorite from them. They've released so much good music.

Their debut album, which is actually considered the 2nd album in the US because it included the non album track "Is There Something I Should Know," has some great non singles songs on it - Careless Memories, Friends Of Mine, and Is there Anybody Out There. 1 of those may have been released worldwide as a single, I'm not sure now.

This is probably one of my least favorite Duran Duran songs ever. I didn't like it very much in the first place and its gross overplay didn't help matters any.
Songs by DD that I do like include "Save A Prayer", "A View To A Kill" and "Ordinary World". I also liked "Skin Trade", although that song spent only a single week on AT40 (at #39) and didn't chart at all on R&R.

Great song and video as well. This prompted me to definately get that Duran Duran poster up in my room in 1984. My dad made me take it down. >:( They were one of the world's greatest rock bands for crying out!

I loved this song, as well as the 1983-1984 pop music era.
I wish today's pop music would have more acts like Duran Duran hitting the top of the charts.

During the summer of 1985, The Reflex was #1 on WKSE Buffalo's Top 10 at 10 for over 70 days.

37 years ago today, Duran Duran's "The Reflex" moved up to No. 1 and started a 2-week run at the top on the Hot 100 Singles chart, 6 weeks after reaching No.1 on the British chart. "The Reflex" became the third Top Ten (5th overall) from Duran Duran's third album, "Seven And The Ragged Tiger," following "Union Of The Snake" (#3) and "New Moon On Monday" (#10). "The Reflex" was remixed by Nile Rodgers before its release as a single.

For some strange reason I got this song confused with another 80s pop hit "The Politics of Dancing" by Reflex due to the word "REFLEX". As for the song itself, it's okay but I do prefer other hits from Duran Duran like "Hungry Like the Wolf", "Say a Prayer", "View To a Kill", etc.

Great memories about this song. I really liked Duran Duran and its look, especially Simon's.
