Great rock song heard in the original 1978 "Halloween" film and again (twice) in the 2007 remake.

I gotta have more cowbell, baby! Hit #12 on the Hot 100 in 1976, and #15 in R&R.

My college roommate told me that the Blue Oyster Cult album with this song it is the only recording he owned at the time. Anyhow, I like it.

It's so different & dramatic. I think more popular songs need to be this heavy & dark, yet accessible. The 70's were the best time for that opportunity, hands down. Without songs like this & without bands like Procol Harem (in addition to BEC, obviously), bands like Muse couldn't exist.
I enjoy music as theatre from time to time.

Cool song. Way overplayed but I still like it. Prefer "Burning for You," though.

Seasons don't fear the reaper Nor do the wind, the sun or the rain...
I love it , a couple of years ago me and some friends developed a little addiction to this. I guess I'll have to listen to some of their stuff again. They definitely are the champions of the Heavy-Metal-Umlaut.

I got my first taste of this song during the third season of Nip/Tuck in 2005 and loved it.

Don't Fear The Reaper is a great song with a real dark subject matter. I enjoy the psychedelic modal melodies coupled with the rock guitar structure. I am seeing a bit of a comeback for psychedelic melodies of late with artists such as The Besnard Lakes and Caribou.

They spell their name with an umlaut over the O... Such stylization was later also used by other groups, e.g., Motley Crue.

I actually really like it! Much better than "Burnin' For You" IMO.

One of my favorite songs of all time. It reminds me of everything about being young and innocent. It had a cameo in Halloween as Laurie and Annie smoke a joint in the car. one of the best classic rock songs.

Rob Zombie used this song brilliantly in his Halloween remake.

One of the most memorable classic rock tracks IMO. I should listen to it more often.

Overplayed on classic rock radio, but I like it.

Incredibly haunting track, probably my favorite song for Halloween and one of my favorite tracks in general. Although yes, this song has been overplayed to hell and back on classic rock radio.
