I have so many mixed emotions associated with this song. Very fortunate we have this on the books, arguably the two greatest performers of our time on wax and in a video dancing together, but sad it won’t happen again. This was a tough time for Michael and I’m so happy Janet was there and stepped up to the bat for him.

It takes a lot to beat "State of Shock" (Jacksons and Jagger) as a worthless duet - this one does just that. "Scream" could have been so much more, I found the video to be slightly interesting and the song to be dull and pointless.

I was surprised to finally get a duet from them and it turn out to be more of an angry rock-ish song.

A duet done right is great, one that doesn't hit the mark, IMO, is just a disappointment. I feel the same way regarding Through the Storm - Elton/Aretha When You Believe - Whitney/Mariah It Isn't, It Wasn't, It Aint Never Gonna Be - Whitney/Aretha The rule of thumb regarding duets should be is that if you are known by only your first name, the duet should be IN-FREAKING-CREDIBLE.

Prefer the video over the song itself but still liked it.

There's enough there that makes for a decent Michael/Janet song. The guitar helps out a lot.
Considering the talent level, this should have been great. So it can't help but disappoint.

Memorable music video with two pop music icons. May had been one of the first music videos I watched on MTV (back when it was worth something) when my family got cable in 1995. The song itself is good but not truly great as both Michael and Janet have made better songs. But it's good to hear this once in a while.

I like this but I agree that there's something about it which is off and keeps it from being truly great.
Is it the vocal buried in the mix? The weak hook of the chorus that can barely be heard? Idk, I have to think on it more.
But I do appreciate that it exists.
Though Janet's Black Cat is superior, so it's not the genre choice

Love the bridge. I wanted more of it. I like the bridge, too, but to me it feels like it's from a different song. I think that's what keeps me from loving the song. I want that bridge fleshed out into a new song, and then a different bridge for "Scream" ha.
