My uncle bought the 25th anniversary DVD concert and showed it to me today. It was from 2004 and in Amsterdam. These guys really rocked it out! Although this song is not on there, it is one of my favorites. It reminds me of my Pee Wee football banquet where afterwords we had a "dance". I remember dancing with my girlfriend to this after winning the Coaches Choice award for best all around player!! AHHHHHHH the good ole days.
It's amazing what sticks out in your mind when you hear certain songs. This is a great memory for me even 20 years later. Also just about the last award I won for anything :'(.

Great song. One of the best radio hits of 1986.

I love this song too. I wish radio stations would give "Rosanna", "Africa" and "Hold the Line" a break and play this one every once in a while.

I remember during the Winter of 1986, this song got ALOT of play on the radio.. I loved it the first few times that I heard it but it got played out... but now I would definitely love to hear this one again.. I still have an autographed album that TOTO signed for their 1988 album that I won on "Hitline USA".. My Question: "Was Rosanna About Rosanna Arquette"? Apparently not, but one of the members of the band was friendly with her at the time that the song was a hit..

Definitely one of my favorite Toto hits, ranks up there with "99" and "I Won't Hold You Back".

"I'll Be Over You" is one of my favorite songs. I wish radio would play it more often. It gets an occasional play on AC radio, but that's it.
Toto is actually doing a little mini-tour in the U.S. right now for the first time in a really long time. They released a new CD earlier this year called "Falling In Between."
I'm a huge Toto fan (see my avatar). Last month, I saw them in St. Charles, MO and it was an amazing show. They play about a 2 1/2 minute version of "I'll Be Over You" in their acoustic set.

This is also one of my favorite Toto songs. I still hear it on AC radio fairly often. Peaked at #11 on Billboard but spent 2 weeks atop it's AC chart.

You should get the DVD. The version of I Won't Hold You Back is amazing! These guys can still kick a little a**. They were supposed to come to my hometown last year and backed out about a month before the show because they were working on the new album. The new album is pretty good. The first song is as hard as they have ever done.

Here's what I wrote on one of my chart notebooks in 1986:
We are born to live and then to die, We have to do alone, Each in his own way, I guess that's why we should love those people who deserve like there's no tomorrow, Because when you get right down to it, there isn't
I continued....
Some people live their dreams Some people close their eyes Some people's destiny passes bye There are no guarantees There are no alibis That's how our love must be Don't ask why
The first is from the movie VISION QUEST & the second the beginning of this song. I took a part of song about a relationship ending and turned into inspiration about achieving your goals, whatever they may be. Sometimes, we must sacrifice relationships for personal success. Then again, what is success without a strong relationship behind you.
This song gives us many things to ponder...

one of the best ballads of the 80's. I still get chills every time I hear it. It's one of those nearly lost classics, especially for those of us who grew up in the 80's. Since I dont feel like starting ANOTHER thread tonight(yes , im bored and have some insomnia going on) here is a kick azz live version of Toto's Hold the Line..... www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJGripBLSbY&feature=related

There was a song in the late 90s called "Snow On The Sahara" that sounded similar to this. I liked this better though.

One of my favourite '80s records. Steve Lukather and Michael McDonald's voices sound heavenly together, principally in the last chorus and outro. "I'll Be Over You" is the kind of song that goes well on a Sunday afternoon with a cuppa coffee, under a vanilla sky with a gentle breeze on my face.
